I got the 2019 Fat Boy 107, soon to be upgraded to stage 1 and later to stage 2. The Fat Boy is a tribute to the atom bombs which finished WW2 in the Pacific. My late dad fought in that war and was a prisoner of war taken to Japan to work in the mines. He saw the mushroom cloud of the bomb that destroyed Nagasaki. My Fat Boy is also a tribute to my dad.

I was never a fan of Fat Boys, and not very many stock bikes catch my eye. But this one has made me a fan. This is the coolest looking stock bike I've seen, and I usually go for older, more retro style bikes, spokes, not mags. But this one is perfect, and the futuristic, almost Art Deco coolness of it has my interest. And well, you know how we California boys are. Gotta have some style!

Matt: In MY humble opinion, your videos are never too long. I think you should not be concerned about the time of the video. Just keep doing what you do by just taking whatever time is necessary to get all of your thoughts out. Everything you say is very informative as far as I am concerned. Great comparison video. I traded my 2015 Fat Boy for a new M8 107 Ultra Limited. If I had the money I would get the new Fat Boy as a second bike. Love the new fatboy, and softail line. These bikes keep the style but bring the platform up to and exceeding what is out there! The difference I noticed between the twin cam and the Milwaukee 8 (I road a 05 Road King Twin Cam 88) and now a 107 M8 in a road glide ultra, is that about the time the King ran out of steam, the M8 explodes, ! I'm a 300 pounder, and it will tear me off the seat, and lift my helmet if you rip it open at speed ! The M8 is so smooth I kind of missed the TC loping idle, until I recently enabled eitms and got a big grin the first time it came on, because the M8 rock and rolled like the old TC! Thanks for the great vids, Matt.

I own several really fast sport bikes, but bought a 96ci Heritage Softail Classic that was love at first sight. I can honestly say that the Heritage can be ridden like you stole it, even on twisty roads. Bought the bike with just over 15k miles on her and have had zero problems. The best part is all of the hidden and expensive upgrades (Screaming Eagle, etc) that the NON-Harley Dealer had no idea about, so the bike appraised for Alot More than I gave for her within 2 hours of the original owners trade-in. Very Happy with the purchase. P.S. just subscribed, been meaning to for awhile.

Have mine for 5 weeks now. Put on 1200kms (750mls) (rains too often). Still breaking in. 1000mls maintenance scheduled in one week. Got to make some miles. Great looking bike, actually best looking bike I ever owned. Totally different from my last bikes, Yam MT-01, Ducati Streetfighter, Yam MT-10. Just love it. First test ride at the dealer felt I really had to force it into corners, with my bike only very short turns cause reason to pay attention to my speed before corners. Guess it has something to do with the tire degradation. Not that I am speeding in any way. It is a bike to have relax rides on scenic routes. Like always great video guys. Also hoping to see you guys doing some rides on different routes on your own bikes.

Hi guys. Thanks again for another great comparison video (including more recent ones - now 2023). You're the A-team at Laidlaw HD, no question. Wanted to as you both how you would distinguish the two bikes in terms of ease of maneuverability around town, navigating traffic, taking corners, etc. Not asking about comparison to other models, just between the pre-2018 Fat Boy and the 'new' M8 Fat Boy. (For context, I'm 5'6" / 29" inseam and about 135 lbs). Thanks !
@MattLaidlaw Жыл бұрын
The 2018 and newer version of the Fatboy requires a bit more “input” to initiate turns etc. once your muscle memory sets in nothing is a challenge in terms of maneuvering the motorcycle. You aren’t going to use it for tight left to right turn transitions though.

Hi Matt, thanks for your informative comments. How does the 240 back tyre affect performance. I’ve always been hesitant to recommend it because of my ride experience with the breakout. It’s a fun bike to ride but you definitely have to compromise here in the Uk! Our roads are insane! We have a lot of twisty roads, very narrow. Can I confidently sell the new Fatboy in the Uk. We don’t have you’re easy roads! Appreciate your comments.

It’s what you’d expect. It takes a little more time and effort to negotiate the turns. It can do it but won’t be as fun and practical as a narrow tire bike. It’s more of a Fat, drag bike that makes a statement.
