Not quite the perfect organism - Alien Trilogy (PlayStation)

The game is re imagining of Aliens and is divided into three episodes with each episode ending with a fight against the queen. The first episode in Aliens with you fighting against warrior aliens and facehuggers and some humans that from Weyland-Yutani that want the aliens. After that the planets is going to blow because the atmosphere processor is damaged and you enter the area that is based on Alien 3. Here you fight the young and adult dog aliens (the adult one can be sen at 17:30). IIRC the storm troopers from the end of Alien 3 (seen at 16:36) show up here too. The third episode is inside the derelict (called the boneship in game) and has you fighting everything from the previous two episodes. I may be misremembering things it has been a LONG time since I played it. Good game for its time period though.

Fun fact: They actually did have guns in the first Alien, they had laser pistols. They decided not to use them because of the acid blood. 🤓

I haven’t seen it in the comments, so the « Stormtroopers » are « Weyland-Yutani commandos », according to the 2015 book Alien: The Archives. They wear white, heavily padded armour and appear at the very end of Alien 3, escorting « Bishop ». And BTW, the « chad facehugger » was a thing! It was called « Queen Facehugger » and was the level 1 boss for the SEGA arcade game « Alien 3: the Gun ». Most probably inspired by a weird Kenner toy.

Omg so much nostalgia to this. My dad died when i was really young but he had a ps1 and this game was amongst his stuff and it scared the hell out of me as a child. Never played it properly i didnt know how. Might be worth revisting this. Shame i dont have his copy anymore.

Back in the day, my first impression of this game was that it was basically photo-realistic + the best thing ever + the scariest videogame experience imaginable. I was utterly terrified by it. And it's so funny to look at it now. It does hold up in my opinion, the first few levels especially are still pretty fun to play but yeah, it's quite funny to reminisce on how amazed I was by those graphics back then.

"Lemme know in the comments what the fuck Alien Trilogy really is" Apparently Fox's video game division was interested in making "Trilogy" games based on their action movie properties back in the day. 1996 saw both Alien Trilogy and Die Hard Trilogy for the PlayStation. As for AT's weird plot, I remember it being pretty common back in the 90s to make licensed movie games where the plot was essentially "iconic protagonist runs through iconic locations blasting iconic monsters/villains" with little else to do with the original film. That's why there were so many Jurassic Park games where Dr. Alan Grant is running around shooting dinosaurs when he never even had a gun in the movie.

I had a Jaguar, too. I begged my grandma to get me one when it came out. I wanted it solely for AVP. I had to sell mine a few years back. Not the best system ever, to say the least, but I have fond memories and I miss it.

Yeah, it's Alien Trilogy in that it is a standalone shooter with references that cross the three movies, but it itself isn't a recreation of the three movies. You see the same environments and aliens. Back in the day this was a great atmospheric and creepy game for the PS1 that my friends and I loved during late night parties.

It was pretty cool to see an Alien-themed Doom clone back in the day especially considering Doom was almost an Aliens game. It wasn't amazing but it worked for the time. Anyway they just have levels inspired by Alien 3 and Alien later in the game. You are playing as Ripley (the PC version has voice samples despite being a shittier version overall) except in this universe she's a marine. Like you said, it's a best-of hits collection of sorts. It's weird, but I kind of like it for what it is.

I've always mixed this one up with the AVP game on the Jaguar in my memories. My brother had both systems and I have always had flashes of "The scary Alien game" in my mind. Never did know exactly which game it was until now, so thanks for that! I remember this game being quite fun, difficult, and scary. I've always wanted a good Aliens game where you get to be a marine and push through a derelict structure. In all these years nothing has quite captured the same feeling. I think the AVP PC games did a good job, but nothing more modern.

While the game definitely weer off in very odd directions, I always loved the soundtrack, ambience of the Aliens-part and the bassy weapons effects. Together with the PS1's render distance, it made for a really atmospheric and spooky setting. Edit: Also, I think the gamma/brightness is off. I don't remember the game being that damn dark. And I think he missed the Pulse Rifle.

I remember buying an after market memory card and could not erase what was inside of it. I tried turning the playstation with the lid up but nothing appeared. This game lets you copy and delete save files from the memory card and finally managed to delete what was (i pressume) probably some hacks for the console lol.

the Alien 3 games on Snes & MegaDrive are both good in their own ways - different from each other but either is fun. also Alien Infestation on DS (think it's called something like that) is ok - sort of a metroidvania thing.

I remember this game, if i remember was the story re-written funny? like guys in the game that shoot at you are infected by aliens? even tho that doesn't how the xenomorphs work. Alien: resurrection on the ps1, abit of a guilty pleasure for me, but abit boring and hard at the same time. oh Alien: Resurrection doesn't work 100% fully on the ps3, I know as I tried it. The game plays on the ps3, but certain doors won't work/open, making the game incompletable on the ps3, it fully works on the ps2 tho

It really bothers me that it's only now that I've noticed that every time someone wants to talk about Aliens and not Alien, they always emphasise the "in" part of Aliens (see 10:35). Even though that's not the part you want to emphasise! Don't worry Matt, this isn't aimed at you specifically. Everyone does it, even me. Anyway, I remember the 2010 AvP game being decent. Nothing to shout about, but decent. The Marine campaign in particular I remember being a better Colonial Marines game than the actual Colonial Marines game we got.
