I love how the woman has to defend her anti gay marriage stance with "that's just how I was brought up". Like "sorry guys, I'm required to be a biggot by my upbringing, it's not my fault!"

I agree. I have met several religious people who are very much against gay marriage, or gay people in general, but they don't use their religion as the main reason behind it. Or if they do it's a much more well formed opinion with reasons why it's not ok or immoral. It is just a lazy knee jerk response to say "well that's the way I was raised sooo..." it's vital to have your own opinion, and it's fine to just say the bare minimum like that woman did, but if you would like to represent yourself and others who think like you you really should have more of an argument prepared. She just seems like someone I would ignore because she obviously doesn't care enough on the subject.

Because that is the only information they have. They are not likely to go out there and talk to people with a clean slate of mind. Their identity of being part of their "family values" becomes a crutch for them when faced with something they don't understand. it's how they process the unknown if you will. Some part of me feels sorry, the other part is usually shaking it's head in disgust.

Xcalco Varze Did you know that there was a lost translation in the bible? At first everyone thought that it said "A man should not sleep beside a man" but what it's actually supposed to say is that "A man should not sleep beside a boy" which means it was talking about pedophiles and not homosexuals. So, I guess your "God" is cool with gay marriage. Btw I'm lesbian.

I didn't like the "Why should straight people care?" question. I'm straight and I CARE! I care DEARLY that we move towards a more just society that allows all people equal rights to something as important as their public and legal face of their love. I CARE that my friends have the same opportunities and right as I have. I CARE that we acknowledge equality and progress towards a moral and ethical society. I CARE.

Christ is king funny how you don’t include the verses containing scientific inaccuracies like the earth being flat, 6000 years old, a person coming from dust, must i go on? oh yeah, also the misogyny, and condoning of rape, slavery, and genocide? by your logic you’re just as much of a christian as she is. you can’t just cherry-pick what’s convenient and what’s not. maybe you should look at yourself before you start judging others.

Christ is king Eww, born again Christians. You do know that the word of god has been lost in translation, right? The current English version (the one you like) allows pedophilia and forbids homosexual activities ,while others denounce pedophilia and allow gay marriage. Most people just cherrypick the words that benefits them ,like topics on gay marriage and submission (kinky), and ignore the ones that do not benefit them ,like mixed fabrics or pork or anal (kinky) or that being a hypocrite is a very serious offense.

Haithem Nasri Like I implied before what other people do to have fun is none of my business if it doesn't affect me, if they are irresponsible and get AIDS that's their own problem not mine. But if you have kids it is your responsibility as a parent to teach them how they can have sex responsibly and not do anything that might give them a disease or get them in legal trouble. As far as your second point is concerned, I don't know whether having two men raise a child without a mother would be a good thing but at least it beats having no parents so I would say let gay couples adopt. There are too many orphans out there to worry about the gender of the people raising them.

My parents don't believe in same-sex marriage. Its funny how people bring up statistics about gay marriages never lasting more than 20 years and shit and I'm just over here wondering Was gay marriage even LEGAL 20 years ago? And if it was how accepting were people of it? How can someone stay in a relationship when people are constantly in their face about who they're with? Its so unfair when people compare the durability of gay and straight marriage when gay marriage hasn't had the same firm ground as straight marriage. Straight marriage has always been accepted so of course there will be less divorces, yet 50% of marriages for straight couples end like that anyways. It would be like gathering data from 1960 to 1980 on how long interracial marriages lasted. The statistics wouldn't be very good compared to white marriages would they? Obviously not. Its like comparing a chef with years of experience and acceptance to a beginning chef. The beginner would receive so much judgement from others that the chef might just quit. Or maybe judges of that begginer chef won't even consider them because of the way they cook because its different than the way they're used to. Of course the beginner chef is gonna cook differently than the experienced one, they're different. But in the end the chefs are just chefs. So why do people think that a study on gay marriages from 1980 to 2000 would have results that are acceptable to straight marriages? Think about it this way In legitimate scientific studies there are variables, controls, and constants that must be regulated. Gay and straight marriage is the independent variable. Divorce rates are the dependant variable. The control is a straight and gay couple that aren't married. The constants are fair treatment of the marriages, acceptance of the marriages in all states, and equal laws of said marriages. But wait. In all the studies you see being spewed out on the internet you see NONE of those constants being conducted. Therefore all of those satistics people show are complete bullshit. So the next time you try waving numbers in my face just remember that I know you're wrong. I'm 15 years old and I have better logic than most of you idiots out there. I'm actually kinda proud that I was able to come up with something like this huehuehue.

Traveling Salesman same sex partnership of any kind is a total abomination in the sight of a Holy Righteous God, who created marriage only specifically for "One Man and One Woman" and, not man with man, neither for women with women. Jesus Christ paid the price in full on the cross of Calvary for our redemption and Salvation. Therefore, we have the opportunity to received a covenant relationship with a holy God in Heaven above, who created the Heavens, the universe, the earth, and all living things in it. John 3:16-19 spells out Salvation clearly to all of us. You have a choice to make to follow Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior or, to follow the devil's plan of total destruction of your being (body, mind, heart, soul and spirit). Romans Chapter 1 tells us about the lust of the flesh and the wickedness of man with man and women with women, burning in their deep lustful desire for one another of the same sex is an abomination to a Holy God.

@Phillip Hickman so for being gay, for liking the same gender, for being as I am born as instead of living a lie lying about being straight I get sent to hell and burn for all eternity? Sure. Hmm. So you said I am a slave to sin and that I'll suffer for it. "Slave to sin". Slave is where you have no consent no nothing and are forced to do these things so what. I'll go to hell for being forced to do these things even though I never meant to but being gay isn't a sin. And no god should be so cruel to make someone suffer forever just for being gay. If I was god I'd never keep sending people to hell, I'd talk to them and help them and forgive them and show them why it was wrong to do this or that or to kill and guide them through and if someone committed suicide I'd feel sorry for them and help them and I'd never send them straight to hell to suffer. I'd send them back to earth and relive their life and make it happier for them and let them remember they met god (me) and when they thank me I'll just say there's no need, I'd just be helping them and if someone was so in their ways of loving murder etc then I'd send them to hell till they learn and if not then forever. I'd never send tons of innocent people to hell. You're sinning a lot. Not loving thy neighbour, judging and being hateful. *tsk tsk tsk*

I am a Christian and I support same sex marriage. I believe that if there is love two people regardless of gender, race or sexuality, then god looks down and smiles. I am very thankful that I go to such an accepting church, my church is very accepting of gay marriage and gay people in general, (we have an openly gay man in leadership [in other words he's on the church's payroll]) while I cannot speak for the whole congregation I can say most of them seem to be ok with gay marriage. Just the other day, a man got up during celebrations and concerns and announced that he just got engaged to his boyfriend and almost everyone in the congregation applauded. My mother who is the music director at our church (which means she is second up the chain of command, second only to the pastors) is going to hold an engagement party for another homosexual couple that goes to our church. What I am trying to say with this incredibly long post is: to all you gay people out there, you have friends in the faith, God bless.

People against gay marriage need to realize that not everyone is in the same denomination or even religious at all. No, you don't have to accept it because you are entitled to your views, but you need to tolerate it, because it is unconstitutional for religion to be used as a basis for creating laws and restrictions. This would be like if Jewish people wanted everyone to eat kosher food because they eat it, when that can't happen because not everyone is Jewish, so those of us that aren't do not need to follow Jewish traditions. People just need to mind their own business and stop worrying about something that does not affect them personally. Look at the states that have had same-sex marriage legalized since 2003-2004. They are still productive states and people still have their individual morals, values, etc.

God is a being that gives no love. God doesn’t give love, Christians do. When people say that they owe everything to God, it pisses me off because they did that, not God. The concept of hell is so that people are scared into believing in God, and heaven is implied to be a paradise. If god created man, why hasn’t he physically manifested himself in an age where everything gets recorded, rather than an era where a book gets translated through many languages, and a king must approve of its teachings? (Its called a King James version for a reason. If god has the power to rid people of sin, why doesn’t he just make everyone holy? Free will doesn’t exist since apparently he knows everything. (Knows if you’re going to hell or heaven) He DID create hell...why doesn’t he destroy it?

“Scripture says” you’re trusting a 2000 year old book dude. If you saw science books in the 1700s you would be appalled by how wrong they are. Hell, we treated colored people like animals. As for the sin part, why would God make us suffer eternally for something our hearts are predetermined to go? That’s almost like putting a dog in a cage for 2 days for barking. Your god is a jealous god. He is scared because he can’t impose on free will. Men wrote the bible anyway. How could God speak to man if he can’t physically manifest himself? “Its sound its not him” SOUND IS MATTER YOU ARE DUMB AND BRAINWASHED.
@zayajazz817
@zayajazz817 6 жыл бұрын
I said that science books were wrong in the 1700’s. Of course they will be wrong over time. That’s why they get updated. The bible hasn’t been updated for thousands of years. Only mistranslations and kings’ approvals. The reasons why God being jealous is important is because 1. THOU SHALL NOT COVET THY NEIGHBOR - How can’t he follow his own rules? and 2. He can’t even use his “unlimited power and knowledge” to solve the problem of Satan and his sin. Do I know the solution? Hell no. Should God know the solution? You tell me. Him being jealous is like me being pestered by someone about a math problem, and I easily can solve it for them, but I “want you to learn through critical thinking” instead of just telling him how to do it and teach him instead of not being involved.

Actually, that response is more biblical than you realize, and more than people would willingly admit, and therefore, almost perfect. Remember these? "Vengeance is mine, sayeth the Lord: I alone will judge." "To the Father alone belongs the judgment." "Love one another." And of course, from the secular world, we recognize "unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness." And of course, we recognize "security in their houses and persons, papers and effects." And what possession (effect) is more precious than the treasure of one's heart? And does the Bible warn against coveting our neighbor's goods? And "he who hates his brother commits murder in his heart," the Bible says. And "he who destroys a man's reputation has sought the man's life; it is murder: it is a sin." It is so ironic, the way people used to say "Homosexuals are licentious, with so many relations. They would settle down with one if they were normal." But the minute they want to get married, these same people say "No, that wouldn't be normal." Remember the moral from a certain Aesop's fable? "Any excuse will serve a tyrant." So it will take a while for them to admit it, but you speak truth, wise truth.

Phillip Hickman well, all of humanity is created equally. so what if someone is only attracted to someone of the same sex? and for the people who refuse to do specific business for homosexuals, that’s on them. in business, the customer is first, and if you don’t want to do what they want that’s a sale that you’re losing. and our founding fathers that you quote were castrating gays solely for who they love were also racists who owned slaves. hope you don’t abide by those condemnations as well. america is a place where you DO have the freedom to be yourself, including love. so it HAS existed, but in the hands of people who deny the rights of homosexuals, it vanishes. and about the judge part? a judge giving a person a guilty sentence just because they are gay is unjustified and despicable, and against that persons freedom.

The phrase gay marriage is an oxymoron in itself. Marriage is the coming together of two individuals to become one flesh under God. In reality, in the strict correct sense of the word , there is no such thing as "gay marriage" because God would never unite two people of the same gender, that would be violating his own principles. There is such a thing as a civil union, or "civil marriage" but that's not the meaning of marriage in the first place. When people say gay marriage it's like someone saying a "wet sun" or a "waterless sea" .

by this logic then straight people must have horrible relationships with their mothers. I mean attraction is obviously based on how close you were to your parents. So therefore the only way to explain that you like women is that your mother hated you and your relationship with her was awful. obviously. -_- Additionally attraction isn't a choice. do you choose to be attracted to a certain hair colour, personality type, body type, boobs, ass, abs? no. so why is that not applied to gender? because some random book that claims the world is six thousand years old says so? Imagine if people were as against others being attracted to asses as they are about gender. "Sir MIx-a-lot is a disgusting person. Big Butts? no that is just unnatural. see in Heat magazine it says boobs are the natural thing to be attracted to. If my son tells me he likes big butts I'm going to throw him out of the house and he can never come back." - This is what homophobic people sound like. Ridiculous isn't it?

@@hakiemshakir-muhammad6447 Your comment is flawed in some many levels, 1st you can act according to your sexuality, but even if you don't it will still be there, the definition of homosexuality is "People who like their same gender" not "people who romantically or sexually interact with the same gender" even if you don't kiss or f*ck someone of your same gender you'd still feel inherently attracted to do so, and furthermore thinking that is even a good option to "restrain your tendencies" is bigotry, you don't decide your sexuality and thinking someone should be excluded from social and civil possibilities and rights for something they don't choose to feel is a violation to human rights that should be above any cultural or religious belief in any decent nation, you can have your own opinion, but an opinion can be good or bad and yours goes against a basic aspect of human rights by unscientific, scant and scarce proofs and mindset, thus falling in bigotry.

Okay geez everybody remember two important facts here, (edit: applying mainly to Americans, because I'm American and I don't know the laws in all the other countries): 1. Marriage is not religious. Atheists get married. Religion does not dictate a person's right to get married, it's a legal issue. 2. SEPARATION OF CHURCH FROM STATE. It's amazing how people forget that that's one of the key things that made our country so unique and successful when it first started, along with freedom and equality. While everyone has the right to practice whatever religion they choose, no one has the right to impose their religion on another or to apply it to government, because that would then affect others' rights to practice their religion (or lack thereof). It is unpatriotic to say that gays shouldn't have rights because the bible says it's wrong to be gay, and it is stupid to say that marriage is defined as a sacred union between a man and a women, because neither is true. The reason America got along so well in the beginning wasn't even so much about everyone voting or being able to raise your social class, it was because no matter your differences, whether you were Catholic or Protestant, you could get along and share a common goal. It was the first time a whole country decided that it was more productive to accept that some people are different and there's no changing them than to fight about who is right. The founding principle of America and freedom in general is that a person should be able to do what makes them happy so long as it isn't harmful to others. If you do not believe in gay marriage, then don't marry someone who's the same gender as you. But that does not apply to others, because this is America. Gays being married does not harm anyone, and it makes them happy. Right to pursue happiness, anyone? Long live America and the separation of church from state!!!!

@NDCHEG2012
@NDCHEG2012 10 жыл бұрын
Cognovit This is not a mere difference of opinion, and it is laughable if you think that it is. It is one group believing that another group should have fewer human rights than another. Denying gay people legal marriage rights or believing that gay people should not have legal marriage rights means that you believe that gay people should be second-class citizens. It means that you believe that gay people don't deserve the same human rights that you have, which means that you, in some way, believe that gay people don't deserve to be treated as well as other people. It is from there that 555catnap accused Sean Harvey of believing that gay people are in some way "subhuman." It's not necessarily a conscious belief on the part of those who are opposed to same-sex marriage, but it is a belief that is in the foundation of the arguments against gay marriage. If the underlying assumption was that gay people were not subhuman, then this would not even be a discussion. Same-sex marriage would be legal because gay people would be treated in the same way as everyone else, and afforded the same rights. It is bigotry to deny a group of people their rights for no good reason. It is bigotry to oppose gay marriage.

555catnap I think you might be condemning polygamy kind of unfairly. i mean you seem to be generalising every instance of polygamy into one bad situation but equally it can be just as bad in a monogamous relationship. I think personally polygamy is fine and marriage in a polygamist relationship shouldnt be completely out of the question. Threesome relationships are actually more common than people think and i believe that if a threesome relationship is loving and equal then there shouldnt be a problem with them expressing their love.

555catnap When it comes to looking at indoctrination its hard to really define it as it can be said that society indoctrinates everyone into thinking a certain way. Who's to say that if polygamy was the norm you would be saying that children are most well raised with three or more parental figures. Indoctrination is a bit of an iffy subject when it comes to things like these. I do agree that some, if not most, polygamist relationships have got the aspect of dominance and subservience but i think that is also very present in 1:1 relationships and a 1:1:1 relationship can be just as equal as 1:1 relationships. Just like with monogamous marriage it's all to do with the people who are doing it. I get that it could be classified as discriminatory against women but equally i think that just like monogamous marriage times have changed and i believe that many polygamous relationships are just as equal in gender as monogamous ones.

Non à l'homophobie they existing but in a really small number. And what studies are you talking about? Can you show me a few? What they are proving? What is the study? And it is different since not a man and a woman but a man and a man or a woman and a woman raising a child. It could be hard for a boy if he can't find an adult man to talk about "manly" stuff when he hits puberty (masturbating, spontain boners, cleaning the penis, shaving, how to act around girls as a guy etc etc) and the same goes for a girl who is raised by two men ( what to do when the boobs are hurting when they start to grow?, menstruation, cramps, hormonal changes, how to act around guys, how to avoid douchebags, waxing, etc etc) boys with single mums have the same problems actually. It is important to have an adult from the same sex who are close enough to talk about these really embarassing and intimate topics. But of course living with two loving man or two loving woman could be still really wonderful and happy, all I'm saying is that there are issues that has to be handled somehow sorry for my english

Dozens and dozens of studies, that seems to be a "really small number" to you ? You can talk about "manly" stuff with your mother and "girly" stuff with your father, and pretty much anyone that is not your parent. Besides, what is a "manly" or "girly" thing to you ? What is exclusive to either gender, that the other can never know, save from body differences, periods, and so on ? Your claim that "It is important to have an adult from the same sex who are close enough to talk about these really embarassing and intimate topics." makes the parent of the opposite gender virtually useless then and therefore has nothing to do with homosexual parents since then two mothers raising a daughter is OK. What matters is how you interact and love your relative. Where are YOUR studies proving that it's important to have a parent of the same gender ? I don't remember learning any "manly" stuff with my father only.

I'm reposting this (with minor modifications) from a comment below, but it bears repeating: A slippery slope argument is not compelling in this case, and is nothing more than a tired scare tactic meant to sway people who haven't properly thought things through. Apparently you are one of those people. Sorry if that's harsh, but it's the truth. Why, in your mind, does the legalization of gay marriage lead to those other things? People who have incestuous desires are predominately straight, and it is not more likely for gay people to desire incest than straight people. Same-sex marriage does not lead to those things any more than opposite-sex marriage does, and it's a logical fallacy to claim that it does. Stop trying to change the subject. Homosexuality is not even remotely similar to incest. The fact that you conflate the two in your mind is ridiculous.

Just because you don't support gay marriage, doesn't make you a bad person. Immediately shunning someone just because they're against it makes you as shallow and stupid as racist people (ie hating someone solely for their race). Holy false dichotomy, Batman! Not supporting gay marriage means that you are opposed to equal rights for everyone. That is unacceptable, especially in the US and other countries that proclaim to have liberty for their people. In that light, "immediately shunning" someone who is opposed to gay marriage is more than reasonable. It is ridiculous to claim that shunning someone for their opinion on gay marriage is the same as shunning someone for their race. You don't choose your race, you don't choose to be gay, but you do choose to be against gay marriage and, therefore, equality. It doesn't make you a bad person, necessarily. You could just be ignorant and/or illogical. But it certainly doesn't make you a good person.
@Kirochi80
@Kirochi80 10 жыл бұрын
NDCHEG2012 Umm no, opposing gay marriage comprises less than one fraction of a person (a good comparison is like one water molecule to an entire gallon of water). No, you don't judge someone by that, you judge someone by the content of their character. The person who opposes gay marriage can be a kind person or a really great person or both. So like I said, I don't judge someone by their beliefs, but how much money they make, and how useful and successful they are as people. I know plenty of people, both famous and in-person, that don't like gay people but are useful and successful. Like one of my favorite boxers Manny Pacquiao is a great boxer and person but opposes gay marriage. I don't judge him for that, I appreciate him for his success and greatness. Also, I work in the UAE and my Arab colleagues don't like gay people, but they're down-to-earth, intelligent people, make over $300,000 a year, and drive nice cars. I don't judge them for their prejudice, I appreciate their greatness and success. That prejudice doesn't make them terrorists or rapists. Everyone is prejudiced to an extent, even you. It's a natural human trait so quit moaning about it (unless if they actually jeopardize people's lives). Learn to look past people's prejudices and learn to appreciate their greatness and success. So if you had the choice of being a rich man who lives in a million dollar house and drives a Lamborghini but opposes gay marriage or a hobo living in the streets of Harlem who supports gay marriage? Please don't tell me you chose the latter. Peace.

Jesus wants us to love all people as we love ourselves true..we aren't to judge or discriminate against anyone! But as Christians the issue is society trying to force the church to accept that lifestyle that's deliberately contradictory to the ideals of the christian church. People fail to recognize that they're bashing our way of life as well, but they don't want to recognize that and that's the conflict. If you're a good person and you're gay, great, I'll judge you because of your character not because you're gay you do you I don't care BUT if you ASK me how i feel about that way of living I'll tell you but the issue is when Christians DO we're bashed, judged and labeled names, but catch this JUST as you claim we do you. The problem is society trying to FORCE us to say "That is okay and God accepts that sin". What people misconceive is that God DOES love and accept EVERYONE BUT he does NOT condone and support the SIN! And THAT is what society needs to understand and fails to admit. Trying to push the notion that God supports homosexuality(not the people but that WAY OF LIFE) is the false mentality that we as Christians WON'T admit because it's contradictory and deceitful to the Christian Church that as Americans, people are supposed to "respect" as people want us to respect peoples choice to be gay. Following me? Now sure there ARE Christians out there unfortunately who approach this issue wrong WITH bullying and with hatred but they fail to realize my first line above, and it's crucial to understand that not ALL Christians are like that and NO Christians SHOULD be LIKE that ;)
@LilOlTyTy
@LilOlTyTy 10 жыл бұрын
Okay I really don't want to argue i understand what you're saying BUT what you fail to admit is that nowadays in America, its getting to that point where if you label homosexuality AS wrong you are labeled as wrong or hateful and that's the deceitful nature that people need to wake up and grasp. Now obviously if you aren't christian you wouldn't hold those same morals and try to grasp that but for Christians we ARE indeed pressured to join the popular opinion that America is heading for, which is supporting the homosexual lifestyle. Is that not trying to force us? You can't deny that If you're a celeb interviewed on CNN and give your views on this issue and you challenge the gay agenda you're attacked.. ... .. is that fair or respectful towards our religious freedom? Not really. As far as the last paragraph goes, on a religious note which you probably won't appreciate unless you're religious, is that just because churches are doing it..doesn't make it right. That's as simple as that. And as far as marrying gays IN the church...why must you have to even bring that IN the church, you know what I mean? Why would try to impose something that God specifically labels as wrong IN his house. What's the point of that? You know? If you want to engage in an institution that was created for man and a woman originally for the same sex, why would you even WANT to do that IN the house of God KNOWING that it's deliberately against what he stands for. :) Again I do understand your view though ;)
@LilOlTyTy
@LilOlTyTy 10 жыл бұрын
And another very important point, especially for us Christians is okay, you said "they"..MAN has decided that that is okay to do that in the church and MAN has redefined marriage on a secular level :) Man thinks we can do whatever we want to do, and THAT'S what tears us more and more away from God and that's the problem always has been. Now like i said before obviously if you aren't religious at all you wouldn't honestly believe that, I respect that though I hope you eventually find Christ.

Again I understand your point. But I guess there is no common agreement being that we have different views religiously and I'd rather not go on forever cause we could do you lol . Can we say agree do disagree? Honestly the point I'm trying to push strongly is just that just as gays don't want so us to judge them and persecute them for accepting their lifestyle which we shouldn't, cause it is their business and choice, also for NOT CONDONING that lifestyle (which what I'm trying to explain is that American society is strongly and aggressively trying to force people to do like for example, in every aspect of popular culture right now) people shouldn't be blasted or persecuted either. Bottom line, I understand their are flaws in numerous branches of the religion because man is corrupted period. Again, I do understand and respect your opinion ;) You understand my main point as well? :) God Bless

TyTy B. I can't believe it you just contradicted yourself you say your a Christian and Jesus told us to love one another but you want allow a person to seal their love of one another in the most ultimate way because you feel uncomfortable. First I hate when people always wanna throw religion in to keep them from something that is a civil rights personally I think it should be legalized because marrying who you love is a right no one should be denied. Also the way people argue about gay Marriage is the same argument about interracial marriage people believing it's a sin because they feel God intended the races to stay separate. First of all unless god himself came down & said homosexuality is a sin then we don't know what he's thinking because regardless of what the Bible or whatever religious book you says a person wrote that not god himself & if you really are a true Christian be one & love his follow child because if he wanted us all to be "normal" he would've taken away are free will a long time again. Don't what God is yours but mine wouldn't sent someone to hell just because they were in love with someone. We all want love, peace, respect & understanding . So when the day comes when a you or anybody doesn't have sin then you can judge until then shut up because none of know we go after we die. I feel as long as your a good decent person way can't be in heaven if God made all of us in his image then gay people are apart of him too. He don't put nobody on this earth that don't belong here. NO FREEDOM TILL WE'RE ALL EQUAL. Live your lives fully and love fiercely and forgive easily.

stretch90 Polygamy couldn't be legalized because of the legal clusterfuck it would cause. What happens when one spouse dies, or when one wants a divorce..who gets what, and when you bring kids into the problem it is even more fucked...are the biological parents the guardians or are all the parents the guardians. these issues are just the tip of the iceberg. regular marriage is already complicated enough. Gay marriage is no different than "traditional marriage" and so it can be implemented with ease.

stretch90 it is not the same principle. One is allowing some one to marry the person they love without a gender restrictions. The other is giving the people the right to marry multiple people. There would first need to be studies on how polygamy affects children development. Then they would need to figure out a way to manage it legally with all of the problems I mentioned earlier. If it all checks out then sure, but I doubt it will be necessary because how many really want multiple spouses.

No one's asking you to help out with a gay pride parade, or donate money to a marriage equality charity, or anything like that. For all those who are pro gay marriage, I have a sincere question for you. Since the overwhelming opinion in this video seems to be that if two people love each other than why shouldn't they get married, then would you also support a mother and daughter, father and son, brother and brother, or sister and sister marriage? If not, please describe why not.

Also, I believe separation of the Church and State is important. I understand we are nation of diverse cultures and religions. So while I'm anti-gay, I am also pro-rights which means I won't advocate for gays, I think embracing any sin is wrong, but I won't hate you nor will I try to make your life any harder than it already is. All citizens should have the same rights, but do not take the Church's ability to enforce it's doctrine within it's walls. Separation of church and state goes both ways.

Incestuous relationships involve an inherent imbalance of power that is caused by the family relationship. That is exceedingly obvious in the mother/daughter and father/son scenarios that you brought up. That imbalance of power means that the two people in the relationship are not approaching it with equal ability to consent to said relationship. That taints the relationship from the get-go, making it one in which one of the people is taking advantage of the other. That imbalance of power does not disappear in sibling relationships, either. The two people still have an imbalance of power due to different standing in the family. To put a long story short, incest involves coercion, grooming, and other factors that make consent impossible for at least one of the people involved. We only need to look at the people who have been in incestuous relationships, both of the heterosexual and homosexual variety, to see that it has profoundly negative effects on those people. There is a reason that those who oppose same-sex marriage don't bring up the slippery slope argument involving incest in court, and it is because the two are completely different from one another. Gay relationships don't have the negative emotional effects that incestuous relationships do. Source: www.psychiatrictimes.com/sexual-offenses/ramifications-incest As for your separation of church and state comment, the situation you've proposed is a red herring. Of course separation of church and state goes both ways, and we are not saying that churches should be forced to hold gay marriages by the government because we recognize that. When we advocate for legalization of gay marriage, we understand that churches can (and probably will) continue to not allow gay marriages within their walls. That is their right, no matter how much I disagree with it. But it is my right to be able to legally marry another person of the same sex, as guaranteed by the language of the 14th Amendment's Equal Protection Clause, among other things. And if churches do choose to marry gay couples, as some already have, then they may do so as well. Finally, I'd like to ask you why you think that homosexuality is wrong. Honestly, it just does not make sense to me that someone could look at my relationship with another man, one that is as full of love and happiness as any heterosexual relationship, and say that what we have is wrong.

salfordguy69 Do you know what the Bible says? I find it ironic that you seem to want to debate matters of the Bible, but you don't seem to know anything about it or the messages it contains. If you had read the Bible, you'd have ran into a section where God forbids all types of marriage and sexual relations such as between father and daughter, mother and son, siblings, first cousins, aunts and uncles with their nieces and nephews, grandparents and their grandchildren, same sex, mankind and animals, and with anyone who is already married. Though all those are forbidden, same sex is the only which is described as an abomination. Thing is, Christians, real Christians that have actually read the Bible and practice what they preach, know there is only one unforgivable sin, that is NOT homosexuality. We know that all sins are forgivable, but if you do not acknowledge your sins and ask forgiveness for them, then you are not forgiven of them. It's a pretty simple system. Repent for what you did wrong, but this requires a certain amount of honesty with yourself. As for the birth statement, no child is born with sexuality. Men are naturally attracted to women, but when a man lays with another man, it can be for a number of reasons, but none of which are genetic. I know people like to say people are born gay because then that would mean God made them that way, but if God calls homosexuality an abomination, he surely does not make people in such a way. There are most definitely factors outside of genetics which influence homosexuality.

What if two people who love each other want to marry, but they are related to one another, can they use the same argument the gay people use? What if three people who love each other want to marry, can they use the same argument the gay people use, can they marry? What if a pedophile who loves under age children are consenting and love one another, can they use the same argument the gay people use, can they marry? What if a rapist who loves his or her rape victims are consenting and in the name of love want to marry each other, can they use the same argument the gay people use, can they marry? Gay people are confusing being denied civil rights with behavior. If pedophiles, polygamist, adulterers, rapists and people who commit incest say that their civil rights are being denied many gay people might find their argument silly. Just as silly as others find their argument for marriage. Marriage is offered to all people. Nobody is being denied marriage. However marriage must be regulated to one man and one woman to prevent perverted people from doing wicked things.

Yes they can. As long as they are both adults. Adam and Eve's children married each other. If they didn't, we wouldn't be here.
@kimkerchner1241
@kimkerchner1241 9 жыл бұрын
Pretty InPink PP, in the beginning Adam and Eve's children did marry each other and that is how God intended it, in order to get civilization started. But then, after there were enough people to populate the earth, it was not necessary for siblings to marry siblings. There were enough people to populate the earth so it was not necessary any longer. Incest, homosexual behavior, adultery, polygamy, or whatever the sexual perversion is are considered sinful in God's eyes. People can try to justify any of these behaviors by saying that they were born this way, or if two consenting adults are in love they should be able to marry, or if this does not hurt anyone, they should be allowed to marry, or whatever excuse they want to bring up, it is still wicked behavior in the eye's of God because God only ordains marriage between one man and one woman. At a certain point in everyone's life we all come to a cross road with our sinful behavior, regardless if we are born this way or not. At the cross road we all make a decision to either continue to live as we choose or repent of the sin and come to the foot of the cross. God allows us to live and do as we choose, however, we are all accountable for the things we do in this life to a powerful and holy God. He will judge us all one day, and all who die in their sinful behavior will be required to pay for their sins. God is a God of justice and He will not turn a blind eye to any sin we commit. But God does not want to punish anyone and that is why He made a provision for our sins in His only Son Jesus Christ. How have you responded to what Jesus Christ did for you? It is between you and God. If you are wise, you will repent and trust Jesus Christ to save you and receive His free gift of eternal life.

Kim Kerchner You know what would be fucked up? If gay people deprived themselves from living their lives the way they felt they were born to then croak and find out their wasn't a God all along. A whole life lived in misery and wasted because of some bull shit book. If I was gay, I would live my life and fuck what everybody thought and your fucking bull shit book. I'd rather take my chance of going to Hell than take my chance living according to some dumb ass book that is full of murder, hate, condones slavery, contradicts itself fiercely, and just outright disgusting. Take your Bible and shove it up your ass!!! And you shouldn't be here on KZbin. That might also be a sin in your book. Be careful, girl. I think there's a passage in your book that reads, Matt 3:23: "Thy Shall not be on KZbin. It's an abomination to Thy Lord." So, get off of KZbin and repent, girl, before it's too late!!
@kimkerchner1241
@kimkerchner1241 9 жыл бұрын
Pretty InPink PP, let me start by saying that your assumption that I am a girl is an example of why you think you know something and you actually do not know anything. Secondly, people who use profanity to express themselves exposes a lower IQ than the average person. So you assume I am a girl, and use profanity to express yourself. These two thing right off the bad show your ignorance and arrogance toward others. Thirdly, when you insult God and the His Holy Word, you heap God's wrath and punishment on yourselves when you ultimately stand before Him on judgment day. Your punishment will be increased due to your blatant disobedience towards Godly behavior. Fourth, you have no real understanding of the severity of hell, because if you did, you would not say such stupid, ignorant things. Hell is real and it is not a place where you want to spend eternity. Lastly, read John 7:7 in the bible. It says: The world can't hate you, but it does hate me because I accuse it of doing evil. The people of the world wanted Jesus dead because Jesus exposed the sin in the lives of the people and the people did not want their sin exposed. When the light came into the world it exposed the darkness. The darkness in you life is now being exposed by the light and the light is Jesus Christ.

I don't see how the word culture is relevant. Cultures change all the time as I'm sure you know. I don't want to sound like a smart ass but marriage is based on Christian and Catholic values, in ever history book and any religion that has a bible the word "marriage" only ever comes up in a Christian and Catholic bibles and yes there has been ceremonies in the past prior to the Christian and Catholic religion but that's what they were ceremonies not marriage, and even then those ceremonies were between a man and a woman. Don't get me wrong I think gays and lesbian should be allowed to be together, I just don't think the word marriage is the right term for it.

I can only assume by 'crazy' you mean express their own opinions. Why isn't it 'marriage'? Its not as if marriage has had any consisant definition over time. Likewise same sex marriages have taken place in most cultures over most of recorded history. American Law derives from English Law: and English Law only outlawed same sex marriages in 1753. So Legal changes in the last few years are only re-establishing the status quo that has existed for millennia.

I deserve to marry the person I love just as much as a straight person, and my partner and I are motivated to marry for the same reasons as any straight couple. We love each other, and want to join our lives together as much as we can. We deserve the right to do so through a legal marriage. We also want to start a family, and will probably be adopting kids in the future. You say that "it takes a man and a woman to raise a family," but that is simply untrue. A myriad of studies have all proved that children of gay parents fare just as well as children of straight parents in all areas.
