Hey Matt , I’ve done kamikazes training and am a licensed applicator , If you can get your hands on kamikaze egoist and their specific wool pad and/or angel wax enigma all in one/redemption (to finish), I’m sure you would be blown away and convert over. - One drop of egoist is all that is needed or a 2x2 section and it will finish down like you have never seen . Also their wool pad instils a lot less heat into the panel compared to Microfiber -whilst having similar if not better cut. This means that your end product has much more clarity if done correctly. It’s night and day. With hard paints like Porsche and Ferrari I can one step with Egoist and a wool pad.

I’m a enthusiast and obsessed with keeping my BMW435i emasculate. Hope I can do with what detailing resources I have available or plan on purchasing from your shop. But, will most likely be done with my TORQ Orbital and products previously purchased and a gallon of Bead Maker that UPS will ship/deliver next week.

Ron, you might try on a car bra to keep your BMW emasculate. just a thought.

For people wondering about smaller pad being more aggressive, Larry Kosilla did a video a couple of months ago where he was polishing interior trim on a car center console, and talking about how often he had to blow out the pad. He showed some calculations as to why the 1” pad is much more aggressive than a normal 5” or 6” pad.

Smaller pad more agressive seems verry intuitive to me, lets say a 25mm disk , with a 8 mm throw moves the smaller aera more agressively than a 125mm pad that also moves 8mm , comppare it to sandik , a small piece moving it side to side will do more damagr than a whole sheet moving side to side

That lift and the nano are the tools that are on my list now. They really would help with the lower areas we all hate to work on. I also need a more powerful polisher, but I’m 22.... and poor. Hahah. Thanks for the motivation!

Excellent job. Love the attention to detail and sharing everything with us. Just an idea and something I really find helps is to use noise cancelling headphones (such as Bose QC35s) whole polishing. 1) it’s nice to have music while labouring away, but 2) and most important is the reduction in noise which I find really reduces fatigue. If recording I’m sure you could wear them and just record with either the headphone mike (which will pipe your voice through so can hear yourself) or your normal one would work, just weird not hearing yourself. I suggest just because I find it really nice and a massive reduction in fatigue as noise is a massive contributor to fatigue.

Hey, love your videos man. Can’t help but notice how meticulous you are with your work. I see that you like to blow the pads clean every so often. I was wondering if you are possibly picking up any unwanted debris when you rest the claw tool on the lift and then use it to spread the material on the pad. I’m assuming you’re cleaning the ramp platform after you drive the vehicle on it? Thoughts?

I'm not a big fan of Snap-On tool boxes. There is so much slop in the drawers, the lock mechanism is odd to me, and they don't offer a great organization system. Their tools are great, but I prefer a matte tool rather than polished. I'm likely going to be doing Moduline or Sonic cabinets here.

What does blowing the pad out do/how often do you do it?
@stevensparks19
@stevensparks19 6 жыл бұрын
tgradwell1 it blows the mixture of spent compound/polish and paint residue out of the pad. Ideally done after every section you work. There’s a lot of ways to keep your foam pads clean while you work. You can use a pad brush, work a towel across the surface of the pad, and some companies (Optimum Polymer Technology and Lake Country) make pad washers you can use. I’ve never personally used a pad washer but it seems like the way that would keep your pad the cleanest while you work. Compressed air is very quick, and works very well. It’s pretty much necessary in my opinion if you like to use fiber pads. I generally just wipe the face of my pads with a towel because my air compressor is unbelievably cheap and loud.

Wonder what the tool life is vs a elect motor D/A do you have to add tool oil before each use of the tool? I would assume long service life being air is cooling the tool with little heat.
