People who disagree with the pen for Norris do not understand the rules. By the RULES it is a correct pen for Norris. The problem is not Max, not the stewards... The problem is the current rules on this. But I guess people just gonna hate regardless🙄
@TheHidalgo99Сағат бұрын
Okay so, then surely you can explain to me what it means to "force another car off the track". When would that apply, what does a driver need to do to be penalized for it?
@foldionepapyrus3441Сағат бұрын
Norris might also get a penalty by the rules, but Max clearly instigates that going off track and is also ignoring the rules to get there - he has to actually be able to to make the corner for his move to count as legal - as he isn't being pushed off he has entirely free choice of car position, which he did not do. Now had he slowed enough for the corner to actually be able to take it and still been ahead it would be a great last of the late braker move.. But in this case Norris would already be turned in and clearly winning. Never has a penalty been applied for the driver taking evasive action - and that is what Norris had to do here. So while by the rules the penalty may be correct for him as well, as he is a passenger to bad behaviour of Max who most certainly should have received a penalty of his own in this case... Penalise them both (technically the most correct), Penalise only Max (the way it has always been historically if penality is issued), or penalise neither but issue a driving standards warning are the only choices the stewards should have had by the rules and precedents set.
@NikoMoraKamuСағат бұрын
IMO if you keep pushing to end up in this kind of situations to get advantage of the rules you are part of the problem too, i think that both drivers should be penalizaded , including the first corner incident to be coherent with the rules drivers know that they can do this tricks in tracks with big asphalt parts on the outside of the corners and take advantage of that pushing outisde the drivers and the fia sometimes penalise and other not , thats the big problem , the rules are not applied always the same
@ChiIIi...56 минут бұрын
@@foldionepapyrus3441 You can't penalise a driver for being 'bad'. Max was never able to make that corner with the speed he was going and he did get a warning for track limits. However he was infront at the apex so it was his corner. Lando knew that rule very well which is why he said that he should just have given back the position. Max didn't gain an advantage by going off track but Lando did by overtaking outside of track limits which is why he got a penalty and Max didn't.
@EverSoPossiblyPat56 минут бұрын
@@TheHidalgo99the problem is Max is considered ahead, so it’s his corner. There is no “forcing another driver off” he technically owns the corner by the rules.

That Ferrari low-point/no point stint from Canada to Silverstone will probably be infamous now. What the season could be like right now if Charles, Carlos and Ferrari had a few dozen more points. Just had a look back, imo Charles would’ve at least been 5th at Canada and Austria with either a 5th or 6th at Silverstone. That’s 30 or 28 points easily. Assuming he’d got 5th ahead of Carlos at Silverstone, That’d put Charles on 305 points (eight points ahead of Lando and 49 points behind Max). Which would’ve made the championship possible if Charles and Max kept finishing 1-3 till Abu Dhabi.

So, with regards to Max vs Lando, I did read an interesting article this morning, and I'm still trying to work out whether I agree with it or not... Basically, it claimed the decision to penalise Norris was correct on the basis that Norris was the attacking driver, but then proceeded to argue that Norris shouldn't have been considered the attacking driver, as he was apparently ahead of Max before the apex, but Max then braked significantly later in order to be ahead at the apex, which they believe should have made him the attacking driver...

Regarding the Norris penalty: 「Appendix L Chapter IV - Code of driving conduct on circuits Article 2 c) Drivers must use the track at all times and may not leave the track without a justifiable reason. For the avoidance of doubt, the white lines defining the track edges are considered to be part of the track but the kerbs are not. If the FIA has approved the white line being painted on the kerb itself, it is still considered to be part of the track. Should a car leave the track for any reason, *the driver may rejoin. However, this may only be done* when it is safe to do so and *without gaining any lasting advantage.* A driver will be judged to have left the track if no part of the car remains in contact with the track. A driver may be reported to the Stewards should they perform any act which results in debris being brought onto the track.」 Max went off “with justifiable reason” (he couldn't slow down and turn the car in time), he did NOT push Lando wide or crowd him off the track on approach, Norris elected to go off with him and gain a lasting advantage. The worst they could give Verstappen was track limits, which he knew would be no worse than a warning at that point. And he anticipated correctly Norris would rather overtake off track than hold back and try for a switch back or wait to play the reverse uno card (had Verstappen gained a lasting advantage for leaving the track) Verstappen played Norris like a fiddle there.

I just thought of something. They should let the teams run nonhybrid V10 or V8, but they are allowed to add 50 kg worth of electric motors and batteries however they want. They could help with the turbo, be at each wheel, or whatever, but it all has to weigh less than a very small amount. It could give teams an edge, but it’s not game changing unless they get super lightweight components. So I guess they’d be barely hybrid, or micro hybrid V10 with electric assistance. It would encourage teams to develop low weight, high power, low heat or extremely heat tolerant electric components, but they have a cost cap. That’s how supercars and hypercars are now anyways. Awesome engine with various means of using electricity to add performance. That’s how you get lightweight cars.

Lap 1 turn 1 has more leniency, we know that, it has been like that forever and for EVERYONE, so what happens there is almost never penalized, Max or not Max. In turn 12, Max WAS ahead at the apex, it's a fact, isn't that what matters the most? Because of that, Max didn't push anyone out, but Lando DID pass Max outside of the track (and the fact that Max was also outside the track doesn't matter at all). Why are McLaren and Lando's fans angry about it? They actually did apply the rules correctly, it just so happens that this one time you would have liked if they didn't. Not to mention that it's pretty obvious that, at least for now, Norris is NO champion material.

@foldionepapyrus3441Сағат бұрын
The rules do state you actually have to be able to make the corner - something Max couldn't possible have done coming in at that speed - you don't get to ignore the track in wheel to wheel to win, the only way you get to go off the track in that situation is if you are the one pushed there. That is a slam dunk penalty against him right there. If he managed to get there and then actually make the corner and stay on the track the move is legal, but had Max actually slowed enough to make that corner Norris would have been so far ahead and already most of the way through the corner. You can't just completely ignoring the corner and your brakes until you have forced the other driver off the track, sailing off it yourself entirely by choice is against the rules.
@_-TCСағат бұрын
@@foldionepapyrus3441 Yeah but the beginning of your comment immediately invalidates the entire life story that follows. If Max was not going to be able to make the corner, then Lando making an overtaking move NEVER was going to make it as well. They both overshot the corner, yet Lando took it upon himself to overtake and not give the position back. If he had to actively steer out because there's a Verstappen torpedo, guess who would've gotten the penalty..? Right! Norris at this point just isn't smart enough and hoping the world will protect him against the evil other drivers. That's just not how it works.
