People are talking about Carlos not respecting team orders but they don't talk about how Charles got ahead of him in the first place. Charles was only ahead of Carlos because of a team order (which Carlos respected and let him pass) and because Ferrari screwed Carlos' pitstop which made him lose 4-5 seconds. Do they expect Carlos to just stay behind Charles, wait till his tyres are ready and then fight? What is this, a race or a joke? The whole "there was an agreement" as an argument for Carlos definitely still having done something wrong is very strange, if you think about it. It's been confirmed both drivers got fed different messages as Tommy said - Carlos got the "don't put pressure on Charles" and Charles got told "he's been told not to overtake," followed by the correction "but it is very close. He has been told not to put pressure." The point is, what WAS the agreement? It would make sense if it was "follow team orders" - but since we know they were given miscommunicated orders surely that would mean Carlos should be left off the hook? If the agreement was to let Charles win, or to help Charles' driver championship then this might make sense, but it's highly unlikely as the team has always said it's constructors' first and they were going to finish in P3-4 either way. We cannot use Charles' reaction and words of "there was an agreement" to justify saying Carlos definitely has done something wrong when there was a miscommunication from the pitwall to both drivers in the first place.
@camra554Ай бұрын
If the agreement pre race was any kind of “Charles finishes ahead of you no matter what” then I don’t blame him for disobeying at all. That’s a stupid team order when Carlos was faster all weekend. For the only championship either of them are still in the order doesn’t matter. If Charles wants p2 than he needs to be faster and get the higher position himself 🤷♂️ why should Carlos care about that and lose what could be he last podium for something that doesn’t benefit him? Especially when the only reason he’s behind him in the first place is due to Ferrari messing up his pit stop. Also if the agreement was to follow team orders than you’re right the pitwall messed that up but then why can Charles not keep calm until they go back and do the briefing? Why does he have these public blowups before he knows all the information, Carlos can do it why can’t he?
@ElectricPrincess100Ай бұрын
You explain it perfectly. The whole "there was an agreement" ok what was it? If it was "Charles finishes ahead" then that's a bullshit agreement when no one but Charles gives a fuck about P2 in the Drivers Standings now, it has about as much relevance as P12. If Charles has a monetary bonus in his contract as some have suggested then that's Charles' job to achieve that not Carlos'. Also I don't see why Ferrari themselves would care about Charles getting P2 in the championship, they know it means nothing and they want the Constructors cause it's still within their grasp and they maximised the result regardless, they likely weren't going to catch the Mercs and if they did it would have only happened by following Carlos' proposed pit strategy and not the one the team used. If it was merely "follow team orders" then as you said the miscommunication means it's Ferrari's fault not Carlos' although the team order is still stupid why should Carlos on warmer tires stay behind. If they'd just pitted Carlos one of the many times he asked beforehand that would have freed up Charles meaning they wouldn't have lost time making the risky swap and meant they wouldn't have come out on track together when Charles eventually pitted.

@@DerickChen I have to disagree with you there. I think the point the original commenter was making was that Matt and Tommy said that George managed the first sets of tyres (aka the mediums) well and that was what won him the race, when in fact he managed all sets including both sets of hards. Even the last set of tyres he was on (aka the second set of hards) when Lewis was making up time to him, it was clear that even though Lewis was on a flyer he would never have beaten George last weekend unless he forced George to make a mistake. George wasn’t punishing his tyres as he wanted there to be tyres left to use if he needed them, plus he said himself in interviews he didn’t want to risk making any silly mistakes and costing himself the race. Lewis was flying but chewed through his set of hards and with about 5 laps to go stopped making up time (infact he started losing some of the time he made up) and sliding around on the track as his tyres were shot due to him trying to chase George down. It was a great drive by Lewis but I agree that to put all of the reason for George winning on his management of his first handful of laps on the mediums is doing George and his strategy a bit of a disservice. It was, all around, a great weekend for Merc. (And please before anyone responds with, “if Lewis had qualified higher he’d have beaten George in the race”, just don’t. Qualifying is an important part of the racing weekend, hence why it happens and why drivers get so annoyed on a Saturday when it’s buggered up either by themselves making mistakes or by the team releasing them at the wrong time or interrupted by any colour flag for whatever reason. Hamilton made mistakes on both of his flying laps in Q3 and admitted so in his post quali interviews that he only had himself to blame for his poor performance/end result.)

Matt please, your reasoning on Leclerc is ridiculous. Carlos qualified ahead, was faster, Leclerc cooked his tyres in the first sting by being overly aggressive, so even if you want to argue some predetermined team orders, they would have been in Carlos' favor since he qualified ahead. Secondly, Leclerc should not have even been ahead of him after that second stop since they were not ready for Carlos when he had to pit and he lost seconds there. Take that into account and he is easily ahead of Leclerc. This was honestly a disgraceful radio from Leclerc, and it incited an insane response from so many "Ferarri fans". There were some big Ferrari accounts on twitter attacking Carlos, calling him a fraud, a fake Ferrari driver etc. Disgraceful. Idea to improve the format, maybe give a rating out of 5 for quali (or sprint if there is one) and out of 5 for the race, then combine the scores to give overall. Better reflects if someone had a good Saturday but not Sunday (and vice verse)

For Hamilton to finish 5 secs behind Russel shows when he’s got the car he’s got more then what it takes, it was his fault in Q3 but Q1 and Q2 he was topping the timing sheets, I think he’s lot a bit of confidence on pushing the car over one lap, defo be interesting to see what happens next year. Russel is and has always been massively underrated by the fans! Remember that time he sat in for Hamilton in 2020 and would and should have won that race if it wasn’t for Mercedes phucking his pit stop up and then the puncture, and that’s with a car that wasn’t fitted for him!

a 5 is fair. He lost 1 place on a track he hasn't driven . Colapinto wrecks his car for the 4th time and gets a 5.
