Great summary Matt! I think the hidden bonus feature of this video is the tablet. If anyone isn't editing on a tablet, they need to do it sooner than later. For anyone unaware, you can assign presets to the buttons on the pen and the tablet itself which is a huge game changer for editing faster. Yes, it takes a wee bit of time getting used to a pen, but once you start using 1 hand on the tablet and another with the pen, you'll be saving editing time which means more time to get in the field!

Thanks for the kind words! You’re absolutely right-editing on a tablet is a total game changer. It might take a little time to get comfortable with, but once you do, the efficiency boost is worth it. Appreciate you sharing your insight!

I have been using both Lightroom and photoshop for a while and this is the first time I have seen this explained the way you did. Thank you. Now off to play with it.

I usually use LR or PS Camera Raw filter. I found this refreshing and a different approach. Thank you. BTW, in your elk photo. Is there another animal in the bottom right in the bushes? It almost looks like a bear? I may need to clean my glasses. lol. Thanks for this, Matt.

How different is this to color grading section in Lightroom classic ?
@MattShannonPhoto5 ай бұрын
Key Differences: Tone Curve - is primarily focused on adjusting brightness and contrast, though it can introduce color shifts when adjusting individual color channels. Color Grading - is focused on applying and blending color tints to different tonal ranges (shadows, midtones, highlights) for stylistic purposes. In summary, while the Tone Curve is a more technical tool for fine-tuning exposure and contrast, Color Grading is a creative tool for adding mood and atmosphere to your images through color. probably the same difference Vibrance is compared to Saturation lol. Not a whole lot but they both have their purpose. I hope this helps!

Why not use Command J to duplicate the layer. Seems easier.

I agree it is easier. Thanks for mentioning that and thanks for watching.

I appreciate how you explain the techniques. Do you think you could leave out the background music? It was very distracting.

Another great video, Matt! When would you use this technique vs. using the soft light/color dodge one in kzbin.info/www/bejne/fKexZ3iZj8l4esU?

No offense here, I have been taking wildlife and bird photos for about 2.5 years now. And I have never used a photo editor to alter any of my photos. I feel it is a form of a unethical behaviour. This is my current way of thinking. Who knows what I may do down the road.
