For those who don't actually know -- Howdy Doody was a popular children's television show that ran from 1947 to 1962. One of its most iconic elements was the Peanut Gallery. What was the Peanut Gallery? The Peanut Gallery was a group of live children who were part of the show's audience. They sat in a special section of the studio and interacted with the hosts and characters. The term "Peanut Gallery" was borrowed from vaudeville, where it referred to the cheapest seats in the theater, often occupied by rowdy audience .

Peanut Gallery predates howdy doody - refers to the cheap seats, where the lowest "class/culture" would be and would heckle vaudeville performers by throwing some of the peanuts they were snacking on. I've also heard it explained in a racial way as segregated theaters would only allow blacks be in the balcony at the back of the hall.

Hey Matt, In Michigan (my home state) at Silver Lake Sand Dunes, the Heavy Wrecker there used Smooth (take off / 2nd hand used) Aircraft Tires for decades ( since 70’s ) obviously that setup was strictly setup for dunes. But farmers also use those tires on JDeere equipment for extreme load rating air pressure capacity for road use due to high temperature asphalt that smokes a typical tire. You may not need them, but keep those aircraft tires in the back of your mind as you may have a use for them in a future project. Keep on with the great content, love the crew and stay humble. Cheers, Dennis and Leslie

The difference is, the suitcase welder is flux core. It's run electrode negative which puts 2/3 of the heat into the job, unlike solid wire which is run electrode positive which puts 2/3 of the heat into melting the wire. Solid wire is great for sheet metal to medium gauge but requires more skill, and you push the weld pool. Flux core is great for heavier jobs and field use and especially on dirty jobs (like paint and grease) and you drag, so also great for welding downwards.

@Chris_the_Muso
@Chris_the_Muso Ай бұрын
@@ShadowClan1965 Yeah, I believe it's the Karnage Welder someone gave them. Internal battery gives 15 minutes of weld time, but that would depend on what you are welding. If you want something with the same welding characteristics but running off mains power, almost any small MIG welder set up to run gasless fluxcore should do the job. If you have limited power input (eg 110V) then fluxcore will get you welding on thicker materials than solid wire.

That's funny. Growing up, one of the old man's marine buddies was the general manager of Firestone's Salinas, CA plant. I used to use Parnelli Jones Firesones on my '69 SS396 Camaro. When I needed a set, the old man would call his friend, he'd head out onto the factory floor, grab a new set in the size I wanted, mark them as blemishes and send them to the Firestone store near where we lived marked as hold for me. When I showed up, everybody would come over and want to know how I knew Bob Jones. They'd also remark how there wasn't a blemish on those tires. I also got the employee discount, so the new set was less than half price. I still had to pay for them, but it was much less painful, plus I made a whole new batch of friends at the local Firestone store. Then the Japanese (Bridgestone) bought out Firestone and closed down the Salinas plant. That was a sad day...

And that's why stick welding is better. If you're carrying 3/32" 7018 and 1/8" 6010 you don't need a flappy wheel. The 6010's aggressive burn will clean all the paint off and give a good root pass. And no need to change settings because they burn at the same amperage with the two different sizes.
@stuglenn1112
@stuglenn1112 3 ай бұрын
That wasn't true MIG with a shielding gas, that was a Flux Core wire he was using. You can tell by the absence of a gas bottle and the lite brown/tannish color of the slag left behind. There are flux core wires that are pretty much the functional equivalent of 6010 or 6011. For burning through truly knarly garbage the stick is a bit better but some of the flux core wire is pretty good at it also. He certainly got the job done here. As for laying down metal it's not even close the wire feed is far superior. As these small portable suit case wire feed welders become less expensive, stick welding will probably go the way of the dodo.
@jpolish420

@@stuglenn1112 then you don't really understand industrial welding that much do you? I've been a millwright for over 25 years and I came up in a steel mill. Wire feed is welding for dummies. MATT! Hope you get this. Here, in New Mexico, the wife and I went up up on Mt. Taylor (just outside Grants). The mountain got a TON TON TON of rain this summer, and it showed. The road up was just fine, but once the small gravel ran out, it was on to the dusty dirt surface of the road/trail to the upper elevations. To cut it short, everything was dry, but the rain had left serious "ruts" and "washouts". Was having fun going up that I didn't realize what I was getting into. Finally, the wife and I decided "ENOUGH!", as the road was just not passable any further ahead. This was a narrow rut filled trail. From this point (10,000ft), I needed to do a 180 to escape the jaws of getting stuck up there. (trust me, nobody would have found us for several days, I am sure!) "WHAT WOULD MATT DO?", is exactly how I approached it. Got out and assessed the situation and create a game plan. I put my 07 Sequoia in reverse and used the side of the mountain to back up the rear and turned hard "driver". Locked into 4L .... I spun the tires in reverse. WHAT A BUNCH OF NOISE!! LOL It helped that the toe ball/hitch acted as a buffer to the mountain side wall, too! Sure enough the front of the Sequoia wheeled to the right, as I was able to achieve the 180 status required. (am making this sound too easy... it wasn't) lol Once we started on the downgrade we saw what seemed to be easy going up, but a big trial heading down. I asked "what idiot would have come up here in the first place?". I didn't have to look in the mirror to answer that! lol We evaded the rest of the deep ruts to get to level forest floor. WOW.... what a trip. Kept my cool, like I say.... asking myself; "what would Matt do?". It worked. So just wanted to say what influence you had on a 72 yr old/cancer trying to have some fun. The trip up was a blast. Cyndi (wife) and I laughed about it several times today. I know we will get more laughs out of it going forward, as well. Just wanted to share. Oh, and the purpose of the trip (from Albuquerque) was to see the Aspens in full color, and it was that. Fantastic time!! Paul From New Mexico!

You should bolt some Milwaukee Packout mounts in the back of the rigs, then figure out what you want inside the Packouts.. that way you can just move the boxes from rig to rig, plus have them locked in place, so encase of a roll over, you don't have tools flying all over the place.

You know how whiskey barrels are used again and again by another distiller or wine maker? Is there some sort of trade network for worn 4x4 tires? New for mud or whatever and then when they're well-worn they go to the sand trails.

Oak barrels should only be used once for aging whiskey. Then they are turned into chunks or pellet fuel for smokers.

8:30 apparently: The verb squizzle is an imitative or expressive formation that was first used in the 1850s. The earliest known example of squizzle in writing is from 1856 by "J. Phoenix". Also Squizzle is also the name of a watermelon pomegranate beer by Lupulin Brewing. The beer is described as a bright, fruity blend with a tartness balanced by sweet and juicy undertones.

Rudy!!! Oh Hi...! It was a ton of fun to see Rudy here again, fixin' stuff and gettin' it done with Matt like old times. (Rudy must need a few spare parts!) 😉LOL Now get back to work, Rudy! You have a really cool Mini Cooper to finish, and we all wanna know where you're gonna eat, and sleep, and "etc" in it during the ride! Have a good one. Your On-X Mini build has been a blast to watch. Great to see you workin' with your Dad- and "Kudos" to you, Matt! You're a fine teacher!

They put a camera on her before, it's almost nauseating to watch, extremely shakey and all over the place. You can't really watch video of a dog running around. Only when they are going real slow, or stopped.
