Amazing for level ground how fast a 4x2 can lose traction on that type of earth. Can happen to anyone but you have to read the terrain you’re driving on. You do some amazing recovery work with that Jeep. Takes skill.

When it rains and that clay gets that mud topcoat, it's like a greased garage floor. Traction is very low with ideal equipment, and near zero without it.

I never get used to the weather whiplash going on here. Call one: It's rainy and about 50 degrees. The road is a muddy swamp. Call two: It's sunny and about 90. It's as dry as the Gobi Desert.

@@gben7084 those videos take longer to film/edit and they don't stock pile that footage. They do so many recoveries that they can release a recovery video from 4 weeks ago but currently be working on the banana. I believe they put out a video breaking it down a few weeks back

Without locking differentials you'll still get stuck. The only difference is that you'll get stuck in a worse spot and it'll be harder to get you out.

In my opinion, the difference is the editing. Casey's videos arent edited and narrated as well. They are also too long. Matt's recovery with be edited down to 5 minutes for a basic recovery and Casey's will be 30 minutes

You'd think after dozens of videos and rescues, it would get boring, but they have a great collection of 'characters', running storylines and the action keeps on coming which is all knitted together with editing.

Hello Matt, Something I had never thought of before came to me today. Lizzie on the crew at these jobs helps put at ease young women who need help but fear a bunch of strange men. She calms those fears its probably reassuring on levels they themselves may not even beware of! If you hired her with that purpose in mind its a shrewd move and wise!

Great perspective. Other services such as Uber offer women drivers for women, etc because sadly a predator could easily take advantage of a woman stranded in the middle of nowhere and we can’t assume that the customer would know who this crew is and that they are safe.

I remember going through a puddle very similar to that one years ago while we were camping it ended up throwing mud into my alternator so the battery ended up dying I had to hike 12 miles through the woods to get to Cell service I ended up having to paid a tow truck two hundred dollars to bring me out a battery

@@ddd228 the thing is there were two trucks my buddy decided to leave Saturday morning so before he left we made sure my truck would start needless to say it didn’t so we jumped it started it and it was fine untill the next morning when it didn’t start again but this time it was just one vehicle and this was over 10 years ago battery packs were a lot bigger and not quite as cheap and easy to carry as they are now

I think she was also focusing for the exit, since the front wheels were on the ridges but the back wheels slipped into the ruts. When you reach the end of the ruts the vehicle shifts, sometimes abruptly, and she was getting ready to catch that.

Each job is different. Matt gave an overview some time ago -- a very popular question. When he stops to help a secondary customer, they get a good discount as they don't have to pay for travel. I'm sure with the KZbin/merch income that they are able to be a little more generous -- you know that they are!

It is amazing how little help a stuck vehicle needs sometimes - absolutely immobile, but it seems like about 10 pounds of tension on the rope and out it comes.

So, if you have a recovery rope...and a couple of humans...you can unstick yourself..... Best effort I participated in was towing a converted truck (bus body on rear) and the 20x 17 year olds (that had been passengers until the driver failed his double declutch to first gear) were on 2 tow ropes out front pulling the truck up an icy gravel mountain road to a glacier.... until we got to the hut..... made the tourists' day...

Yep, because sometimes it's not really "stuck" in the literal sense; it just has less traction than it needs to start moving. Give it a little help to get moving, and it will move. I've driven in clay mud; it's like grease. If it's not deep, and it often isn't, you don't sink and get "stuck," but you have nearly zero traction unless you have very suitable tires.

You're not heinously stuck until you have to crawl out your window because the mud has the lower half of your doors pinned and your front bumper is firmly planted against a granite wall under the mud... Such as that only time my 2000 Silverado (aka, 'Tiny') has ever been stuck. BTW, Yankee Lake in Ohio near Pennsylvania is a lot of fun! Look then up if you like to play in mud.

The mud itself is heinous; when it gets a top coat like that, it's like trying to drive on greased cement-the smooth kind, like you find in a garage. Traction is near zero unless your tires are really good, and even then, Rudy illustrated how slippery it is when he slid across it and turned the vehicle 180. But was he really heinously stuck? Nah. I imagined a much worse stuck when he said that, and then saw his stuck and realized that he is a city guy with no basis for comparison. :)

I think what I love the most, and maybe what others do too, is how fun and laid back it all is. No showboating, just good people enjoying their jobs and putting smiles on faces along the way
