Nailed it again. Google Earth and Navionics should be a fishermans best tools, i use them alot, just a fun fisherman. Thanks for talking about this, its not talked about enough in my opionion, too much focus from other industry folks on the latest and greatest of everything. Bryan New's boat at the classic is a screaming example of latest and greatest, 6 units on his boat. Yes I realize thats his niche and he has had national level success, not trying to throw shade on the man. I guarntee he spends hours off the water on google earth. Thanks for keeping the focus of your channel on how a fisherman can become great without spending tens of thousands of dollars. Keep up the great work, enjoy your vids.

Thanks for the good advice on this stuff Matt! I know for sure it helps me out, I kayak fish and hand paddle so checking stuff out before I go is a big deal and stops me from having to paddle everywhere trying to figure it out... good luck with everything and I am rooting for you 👍🎣

Love how you breakdown the presentation of the topic. Being a shore guy, maps are only good for accessibilty or where to park. Lol. As for underwater stuctures, I usu. just try to remember them when water was low. I couldn't read those maps or trust them. If it's a new lake, the lures to carry are more important for me and a lot of factors account for this decision making like water clarity, types of structures, types of fish, etc.

I hear ya Matt about choosing to live here up north. I like showing up at the boatlaunch of one of my favorite local fisheries that I chose because I wanted to target either smallies with light lines or largies with 65-lb. braid froggin on a random dayoff during the week and there are maybe 1-2 other bassboat trailers in the parking lot.

Randy was down on there a couple weeks ago. The water temp then was 41 degrees, I just goggled it and it's supposed to be 71 degrees. My guess is they're spawning now. It hard to believe the temp shot up 30 degrees in two weeks. Check it out ! Good Luck ! ✌️

Hey Matt, great content as always. We just need to persuade y’all (you all 😊) to move to Texas. Close to best lakes in the country and NO STATE INCOME TAX. You could save a ton. BTW: You’ve done some videos on cost of professional fishing but I don’t think you have explained how the IRS hits tournament winnings. It’s pretty steep I think, isn’t it?
@MattStefanFishing2 жыл бұрын
I would love to move to Texas! As for taxes its a tough industry for taxes especially if you have a bad year because the expenses can drastically outweigh the earnings and then the IRS really questions the write-offs.

Great advice on using the resources of the latest technology. When I started fishing tournaments it was paper maps, flashers and road atlas to get there. Sometimes anglers would hire a plane and do a fly over of the lake. Have you ever considered leaving your truck/boat in the south closer to your destinations on the schedule and flying back and forth?

largemouth will be in the slack/slow moving backwaters and smallmouth will be in eddies in current. If you want my juice spots I recommend buying these lake breakdowns i have done for spring fishing on pool 7,8,9. Each has 40 waypoints and I can tell you I have won a lot of money of these waypoints. I also just finished the summer breakdowns for each pool and then should be posted soon as well. Pool 7 - fishthemoment.com/spring-lake-breakdowns-matt/mississippi-river-pool-7-wisconsin-spring Pool 8 - fishthemoment.com/spring-lake-breakdowns-matt/mississippi-river-pool-8-wisconsin-spring Pool 9 - fishthemoment.com/spring-lake-breakdowns-matt/mississippi-river-pool-9-iowa-spring

Lately it seems I've spent more time on Google Earth or watching videos about fishing than I have on the water. With gas at 4 bucks a gallon it may stay that way. Hasn't managed to slow down everyone else though- I've never seen so many ppl out trying to fish at one time in my life. It's unreal- sort of made me glad I wasn't trying to go myself- I'm waiting at least until Monday- when everyone goes back to work. It's the first really warm weekend we've had and all the guys who stop for winter are officially back- and they brought their friends. We need more water- quick.

Hello Matt. Do you know of any app or software that would allow you to splice or overlay a Navionics (or similar contour style map), with a Google Earth Pro image? Preferably on a Mac, but a PC would work too.

I've been watching MLF, & bassmaster classic since mid week, my friend Kyle Welcher came in 2nd he was so close to winning, I figured you might know him since you & him have some of the same sponsors. The way you go about getting waypoints is definitely time well spent, sounds like you do a very thorough job, I don't know of anyone else making lake map brake downs with waypoints in the USA, the only advertisement is you tube from all 3 of your channels & FTM website, I'm going to checkout & see which ones will benefit me, but if a lot ppl got the same ones that fish the same body of water as I do will it benefit me? Since your going to Harris chain of lakes how would you brake that down being so flat & full of grass 🤔
@MattStefanFishing2 жыл бұрын
ive known of kyle from when he fish the flw tour well before he fished the bassmasters. he was a young 18 year old at that point. Hes a very good fisherman. there very fw people buying the lake breakdwons where you would have to worry about them being on the same waypoints. Harris chain really is not flat compared to other florida lakes. I love that places. you can fish offshore or shallow pretty much any way you want.
