Thank you for all these videos. As a kid there were so many things I wanted to learn and nobody ever had the patience or knowledge to show me what I wanted. One of the things I wanted to learn is how to repair my own musical instrument. Thanks to your videos I've been able to learn from nothing to now doing a full restore of my old saxophone. I am very grateful for people like you, thank you for all your efforts.

Excellent demonstration of an excellent method. Thanks for all the effort you put into these videos. For my personal horns, I will also apply a very thin amount of synthetic grease on the mating surfaces of the tubes and posts with a tiny paint brush making sure it doesn't get into the tubes so that it doesn't get drawn in. This requires the keywork to be removed to re-lube, so I have never done this to a client's horn unless we talk about it first. I use Super-Lube products across the board since they have quality high and low viscosity oils and synthetic grease. Their grease is not very sticky, but it is good enough most of the time. I go for MusicMedic's Ultra grease when I need something super tacky.

Some people recommend putting a grease instead of heavy oil or even slide/cork grease (bettersax). How about silicone grease? Would you recommend that?

Never heard of that or tried it! I'm pretty satisfied with my method, given that I can see horns that come back after years of hard use and the oil is still mostly present and mostly clean. I do think that anything much heavier than what I'm using here on hinge rods is likely to start to feel sluggish if key fit is close to decent. I do use grease on pivots. I'm sure there are other methods and materials that would do the job just fine though.

@@StohrerMusic I heard the greasing method is used by one of the techs at yanagisawa. If i recall correctly i believe i saw it in a bettersax video one time
