Mattupetty Dam , Boating, Munnar

Mattupetty dam in Kerala's Idukki district serves as more than a water storage facility, meeting the dual goals of generating electricity and conserving water. Mattupetty lake was born as a result of the dam. The lake is perennial and so, is a watering hole for different bird species of the region and wild animals like elephants. The tranquillity of the area surrounding the dam has to be experienced. The Mattupetty dam's most alluring feature is the calm waters. A boating trip along the lake is one option for visitors to fully take in the beauty of the region.
Mattupetty is also known as ‘cattle village’ owing to the well-known Indo-Swiss farm project or Livestock Project. The destination is highly recommended for trekkers. The sight of cattle grazing at leisure along the hillside is symbolic of the serenity of the place. The Idukki District Tourism Promotion Council regularly organises boat rides with paddle boats, motorboats and rowboats to choose from.
