It seems that everyone here is really stretching things to try to paint this scene as part of a war between left and right. But it's clear that Hallmark went out of their way to pick character traits that were apolitical, presumably so as not to alienate half their potential viewers. Being scared of germs is not political. Being obsessively concerned about health is not political. Thinking the Earth is flat is not political. If they were genuinely trying to make this a political thing, they would have picked a completely different set of characteristics: a particular view on taxes, or guns, or drugs, or something like that. But it seems that no matter how far a company goes to make something apolitical, people are always going to try to read something into it that isn't there.

OK it’s hard to tell but I think in the end this was supposed to be Matt. However, even though the costume department got it dang near perfect, The writing department fell short and here’s why. every time the writers had to do research into Matt‘s character they kept red pilling themselves by accident. So because Hallmark kept losing all the writers they had to tell the 27th writer to just make s*t up! That’s my theory atleast.

I have always been a fan of the Hallmark channel but mostly because they used to support traditional values, however they have unfortunately gone seriously woke. I continue to be hopeful that they will turn this back around. As for the likeness to Matt, I caught the physical likeness the moment I saw this movie several weeks ago so that is spot on. As for the personality, a total miss. They created their extremely woke opinion of Matt with this character. I hated the way they made this person seem so awful that no woman on the planet would ever want anything to do with him. A very sad day for Traditional Hallmark fans. Lets hope GAC don't go that way. This whole thing doesn't make Fake-Matt look bad but this Noelle character is just awful. Her acting smug, superior and judgemental is exactly why she needed to be set up with a Fake-Matt in the first place, and even though there is no one better volunteering to date her, she's still basically looking over his shoulder hoping Prince Charming will arrive (even though 35 years in, he hasn't). Maybe try engaging with Fake-Matt instead of standing there like a pompous queen, uncomfortable like you are being poorly entertained. Fake-Matt isn't there to be your entertainment for the evening, he's looking to be himself so he can find the right person for him. Maybe instead of being offended, clutching your pearls, have a fun conversation about why the world is or is not round - that would make for an excellent date! You're the problem, Noelle. Fake-Matt is handsome, confident, a nice guy, and just a bit quirky. He's WAY too good for you anyway, I hope he finds someone as unique as he is who gets his ideosyncratic look on life. hallmark has become garbage. i agree. they actually used to make high-quality, family friendly films like "Saint Maybe", "The Magic of Ordinary Days", "Silent Night" starring great actors like Angela Lansbury, Sissy Spacek, Laura Dern, and others. Most of the movies are about woman has job and is either, single, workaholic, recently single, lost her holiday spirit, has holiday sprit, no children(about 90% of the time), really happy go lucky, usually a mixed of several of the above. She goes back to her home town and finds the true meaning of happiness and a man. As always with these stories guy grows on girl until the start of the third act where there is a misunderstanding of some sort where the woman breaks it off after being overly dramatic to have the misunderstanding resolved in about 20 minutes after family and/or friend intervention then happy ending with everyone together where there may or not be a time skip to show her now happy life. Many of these movies also take part around Christmas.

Honestly, I know people who really miss the wholesome-cheesy holiday Hallmark movies. Their acting wasn't even generally _bad,_ the story was just kind of predictable and cheesy. Then they started to do things like same-sex love stories.
