Thank you for the instruction. You are quite a fast speaker so I have to slow down the playback speed to learn to play those embellishments clean. I love this tune.

Glad it was helpful! And yeah, I should probably try and speak a bit slower....

Seriously, Matt, your content and instruction is top quality. You’ve helped me get through a lot on the pipes. Thank you!

Hello Matt, I got this tune some months ago, and it's the only one I can play relatively quickly with good grace notes ! I like birls :)

Great Video Matt! I didn't think I could play this tune but after watching, downloading and really practicing, I've got it! I wouldn't be here though if it wasn't for the one-on-one lessons that you gave me. I will be emailing again for more lessons! THANK YOU again!

Hey Matt. Love your work. Can you do a short bottom hand exercise and analysis for us cursed left-handed pipers who were forced to learn to play right-handed? Tachums and birls are killers for me. I play stuck-ems and boils. Thanks and appreciated.

Nice one Matt, just when I thought I had it, now I have to go back and re-learn my embellishments! Any chance of including The Dark Island in your list?
@MattWillisBagpiper4 жыл бұрын
Dark Island, what a great tune! That one isn't in the public domain, so not likely, unless I can get permission from the music publisher...

@@MattWillisBagpiper Do you know Calon Lan (Pure Heart)? Its a great tune for the pipes. Im half Welsh so it stirs my celtic heart. I have an arrangement for it if you need it.
@lesliethomson24414 жыл бұрын
@@MattWillisBagpiper If I remember well the tune is actually from TV series Wiki: "Mcinnes's Farewell to South Uist" composed by Iain Maclachlan of Benbecula about 1958. The instrumental was later known as 'Dark Island' after the BBC 1962 TV series of the same name starring Robert Hardy. I pray that "Outlander" doesn't belive that "Skye Boat Song" is their copyright LOL

Hello Matt, I would like to get your advise on how to clean/sanitize a goat hide bagpipe. The one I have is a traditional Libyan bagpipe and it’s very different from the Scottish ones except the bag part. I’m having problem cleaning the bag. Can you help?
@MattWillisBagpiper4 жыл бұрын
With a goat skin bag, the only thing I think you can do is re-season it. Seasoning has anti-microbial properties, and I fear anything else could damage the bag.
@noraelmaghura4 жыл бұрын
Thank you Matt. I just watched your seasoning video and it’s very informative. I have one question. Can I clean the out side with suede cleaning products or should I just clean it as any hide product. Baking soda and water?
@MattWillisBagpiper4 жыл бұрын
I've never felt the need to clean the outside of a bag... I'd avoid water if possible. That can leach the oils out of the skin and shorten the life of the bag.

Thank you so much. I appreciate your help.

I like the pointed rhythm in bar 2. Most versions have those notes as two 8ths. Prefer this one.
@MattWillisBagpiper4 жыл бұрын
This is how the College of Piping had the rhythm back in the day, so I chose to keep it. It's more challenging, but I think it's more interesting. Cheers!

No really, Matt, how did you manage to make me memorize 5 tunes along with all embellishments in 2 months provided I had zero musical experience? Guess one of the answers is that along with technique tutorials I’ve followed your whisky endorsements.
@MattWillisBagpiper3 жыл бұрын
Ha! Glad you’ve also been enjoyed the whisky. Happy to hear these videos are helping you with your progress!

I had to put the video in 0.5 speed to keep up and learn. You are way too fast for me. It made the notes managable and very Funny Audio. Maybe you can begin with 45 or 50 beats for the people that play it the first time. But overall perfect video. A great help to me
