I think it's a money thing. Who knows what's true when Matty is talking but I remember him saying that Just A Dash was very expensive to make. Which makes me believe it might have been on his dime. It would be hard to monetize that series also due to the content. The swearing, talk about cooking and eating cum. Also the diarrhea. That being said, I'd be up for a kickstarter campaign. Or just hope he sells enough swag to produce another season. Because I would love me some more Just A Dash.

Matty had a thing for Michelle, but she was in love with Camera B. They eloped to the woods where they live in seclusion and fix broken things. She couldn't bear to be with a piece of shit who has hornets in his house.

@@chefnig JAD started in Oct 2019 and the last episode aired in March 2020, so they were all filmed before the core COVID stuff. Home Style Cookery aired Jun-Dec 2020 which was in the middle of the first wave of COVID. I think it was filmed in his barn with a very small 'bubble' crew. The Cookin' Something series started Apr 2021, which is more core COVID and even into the second wave. He did many of these in the south (Nashville/Louisiana?). This series is still running - I think he learned he can do a decent show at heavily controlled remote locations and with reduced crews.

The Mormon's in Utah have been making the hash brown dish for a century or more. Except in this state its simply referred to as "funeral potatoes" because the relief society(ladies) of the ward prepare a meal for the grieving and this is usually served along other dishes. Its not 100% a one-to-one comparison but its pretty damn close.
