There’s a lot of little things I noticed about Russell Wilson 1) he takes the game clock down to one second every single time and really takes every second to read the defense 2) he has that tangible thing that Patrick Mahomes has where he can scramble outside of the pocket and find the open man 3) he’s got great touch where he could throw the different types of passes 4) there’s great communication between the team and the lineman 5) he talks about love and the journey trying to win a Super Bowl It looks like we have a real NFL quarterback and a formidable team.

True. These guys are both essentially rentals this year. Russ, especially if he takes us deep in the playoffs, is going to want a big contract next year. Fields, as a free agent, is going to want to start somewhere. We sign one and let the other walk. It's all we can do.

Yes, Wilson is a good QB, but far from perfect. But, let's be clear... Russ does not make Steelers SB bound. He gives Pittsburgh a good chance to be competitive within your division (who knows win it, possible this year). But he has only achieved SB when Seahawks were #1 seed. He has never won an away playoff game. He isn't going to take his team into KC and win.

The glaze is crazy... Sorry. He only completed 19 passes. Two of his longer throws were under thrown and if not for incredible concentration from Pickens would have either been an interception or incomplete. He took several sacks and missed open QB runs and also missed some receivers in the midfield instead looking to dump it off. Was it all bad no, no where close, his touch is most evident (when accurate). However to say it was an A performance when he was being booed after the end of the 1st quarter is wild. He didn't play perfect, he played poorly in the 1st and played decent the rest of the game. I'm excited for Wilson, but by no means is he this savior and honestly I'm not sure this game was better than Fields last game.

They have enough receivers, but the key is to get #80 Washington involved. If Pickens is into the game he can do it all, Austin is a speed guy, Freiermuth is a solid middle of the field man, Warren and Harris both can come out of the backfield, but Washington is that key. If he can get opened in space he becomes a real mismatch and I don't see many DBs wanting to tackle him. ( look at what the Ravens do with their TEs )

First few drives . Russ grade D plus. Rest of the game ( after maybe shaking off the rust and jitters the long pass to Pickens probably helped) B+/A-. He without doubt got better and better and found a rythym and groove . I think some of the play calling also was good for him to do so. Only small takeaway ( in my opinion ) he was still a little inaccurate and throwing pretty low a few times . A couple of beautiful catches it good coverage . But also some drops early . for not playing in 10 months It was an incredible to see him literally do all that with little to really critique . .. keep spreading the ball around and please get Darnell Washington more involved . We still have Roman Wilson to see what he’s about and also Conor Heyward who can always make a play out of nowhere . This team with Najee running like this. The league is on notice . Also , McCormick should get his due as well. Beanie Bishop is special and Elliott seems like he was meant to be a Steeler. He has parts of his game that reminds me of some of our greats before. Won’t name drop comparisons just yet. The talent and depth of this team is scary. LFG!!!

Russell is only going to get sharper as the rust wears off (this was his first game in a long time, plus recovering from an injury), and he gets more familiar with the team & offense.

interesting fact, Beanie definitely knew what was coming. infact both plays where he made his interceptions they practiced during the week... and he made interceptions on both in practice as well. crazy right.

Russ gets an A+ in the 2nd half which in Steeler football is all that counts. Anyone that grades him for the 1st half does not understand Tomlin. If Arthur can figure out how to combine Wilson and Fields the league will be in trouble.

Good analysis on Beanie Bishops picks, it shows his football IQ in getting into position to create the turnover. Tomlin made a gutsy choice with QB switch, the crowd even booed early on. In the end Tomlin showed why he is him. Wilson gets a B+, hope he continues to surprise.

Bishop was a playmaker at WVU too. I was surprised he didn't get drafted, I guess the bio-metrics don't show everything.

That was good but let’s get a hold of ourselves. Do this against a good team and we’ll talk. Still - good stuff all around. No reason not to be intrigued by what we saw from Wilson in particular.

Hats off to Tomlin for taking the chance. Obviously he sees Russ in practice, but he would've taken major heat for a loss. Kudos Mike Tomlin.

Wilson was on his game. You can see he was taking what the D would given him. But, if he gets consistent pressure, he will not be able to convert for 1st downs very often. If that O line can hold up, he could start the rest of the season. Road games with stout opponents will be the acid test for him.

Only thing I don’t think the Steelers will do if they do pick Russ as the season long qb1 is ever bring in fields for end zone run packages. If they were gonna do that they would have tried it against the jets when they were up huge, but Mike tomlin flat out told reporters that the thought of putting Justin in at any point in that game never even crossed his mind. He was 100% Russ

You and many others were underestimating Russ's talent , He may not be able to run like Fields, but he showed he doesn't have to. A much more balanced offensive attack translates into more points on the board. You are talking about a former Super Bowl winner and someone who threw for 26 TDs last year. Why the doubt ?

We need to consider the fact that as good as everyone thinks the Jets defense is, their secondary was gutted by injury. They were down to playing 3rd stringers, practice squad guys, and a one-legged Sauce Gardner. Those passes by Russ were partly George Pickens being George Pickens. Russ got better as the game went on. I don't want to take anything away from that. But I would like to see the Russell Wilson version of the offense against a better secondary before I jump on that band wagon. The truth is, Wilson's experience shows when he is getting through his reads and by his superior command of the Steelers play-action sets. But Justin Fields is the more accurate passer and the numbers bear that out. Russell throws with better touch in the red-zone but Fields can score with his legs in the red-zone that makes the defense look silly. Justin really needs to learn to throw with touch from Russell. If he learns nothing else, he must learn that.

The o line didn’t have to many penalties so Wilson was not in third and long. It seemed like Fields got the team moving down field then a penalty. Changing the play calls

This Steelers team is built similar to the Seahawks team that Russ was on.. good defense, runGame, efficient QB-play... folks keep forgetting that Russ was never a TomBrady-50TD a season type of QB he "cooks" when he needs too (he is a game manager on steroids, this what makes him special)... TBH, if Russ can play how he played his last season in Denver (26TDs-8INTs), combine that with an already good defense... thats basically "Seattle Russ" #letRussCook
