There’s a lot of little things I noticed about Russell Wilson 1) he takes the game clock down to one second every single time and really takes every second to read the defense 2) he has that tangible thing that Patrick Mahomes has where he can scramble outside of the pocket and find the open man 3) he’s got great touch where he could throw the different types of passes 4) there’s great communication between the team and the lineman 5) he talks about love and the journey trying to win a Super Bowl It looks like we have a real NFL quarterback and a formidable team.

The glaze is crazy... Sorry. He only completed 19 passes. Two of his longer throws were under thrown and if not for incredible concentration from Pickens would have either been an interception or incomplete. He took several sacks and missed open QB runs and also missed some receivers in the midfield instead looking to dump it off. Was it all bad no, no where close, his touch is most evident (when accurate). However to say it was an A performance when he was being booed after the end of the 1st quarter is wild. He didn't play perfect, he played poorly in the 1st and played decent the rest of the game. First few drives . Russ grade D plus. Rest of the game ( after maybe shaking off the rust and jitters the long pass to Pickens probably helped) B+/A-. He without doubt got better and better and found a rythym and groove . I think some of the play calling also was good for him to do so. Only small takeaway ( in my opinion ) he was still a little inaccurate and throwing pretty low a few times . A couple of beautiful catches it good coverage . But also some drops early . for not playing in 10 months It was an incredible to see him literally do all that with little to really critique . .. keep spreading the ball around and please get Darnell Washington more involved . We still have Roman Wilson to see what he’s about and also Conor Heyward who can always make a play out of nowhere . This team with Najee running like this. The league is on notice . Also , McCormick should get his due as well. Beanie Bishop is special and Elliott seems like he was meant to be a Steeler. He has parts of his game that reminds me of some of our greats before. Won’t name drop comparisons just yet. The talent and depth of this team is scary. LFG!!!

Only thing I don’t think the Steelers will do if they do pick Russ as the season long qb1 is ever bring in fields for end zone run packages. If they were gonna do that they would have tried it against the jets when they were up huge, but Mike tomlin flat out told reporters that the thought of putting Justin in at any point in that game never even crossed his mind. He was 100% Russ
@Shhh...theMoon2 күн бұрын
You and many others were underestimating Russ's talent , He may not be able to run like Fields, but he showed he doesn't have to. A much more balanced offensive attack translates into more points on the board. You are talking about a former Super Bowl winner and someone who threw for 26 TDs last year. Why the doubt ?
@captainmidnight352216 сағат бұрын
We need to consider the fact that as good as everyone thinks the Jets defense is, their secondary was gutted by injury. They were down to playing 3rd stringers, practice squad guys, and a one-legged Sauce Gardner. Those passes by Russ were partly George Pickens being George Pickens. Russ got better as the game went on. I don't want to take anything away from that. But I would like to see the Russell Wilson version of the offense against a better secondary before I jump on that band wagon. The truth is, Wilson's experience shows when he is getting through his reads and by his superior command of the Steelers play-action sets. But Justin Fields is the more accurate passer and the numbers bear that out. Russell throws with better touch in the red-zone but Fields can score with his legs in the red-zone that makes the defense look silly. Justin really needs to learn to throw with touch from Russell. If he learns nothing else, he must learn that.
