CHICAGO STYLE HOT DOGS
INGREDIENTS
Vienna Beef Hot Dogs
Yellow mustard
Green relish
Beefsteak tomatoes
Yellow onion
NY deli pickle
Celery salt
Sport peppers (dark green in color if you can find them!)
Poppy seed buns
COOKING METHOD
1. Prep your toppings - finely dice the onion and slice the tomato into half moons
2. Boil hot dogs in salted water
3. Steam hot dog buns (pro tip - put a metal colander on top of the pot you're boiling the dogs to make a little steamer basket)
4. Top with all toppings and finish with celery salt
FRENCH FRIES
INGREDIENTS
Yukon gold potatoes
Salt
COOKING METHOD
1. Slice the potatoes into fry wedges or rounds
2. Add potatoes to a pot of boiling, salted water
3. Once they are cooked all the way through, remove them from water and put on a sheet tray
4. Put the fries in the freezer while you prepare the oil
5. Fill a pot with oil - only halfway up the pot!! Get the oil to about 300 degrees F
6. Add fries from freezer into oil, and fry until golden brown
7. Remove from oil and season immediately with salt

That episode was hilarious, touching, eye-opening, etc. This episode of The Beef was amazing and yes, everyone needs to be able to get down with a dog. I've always thought of them as the thing you wolf down waiting for the other food to be cooked at a BBQ, but so often, if there's good kraut, onions, mustard, etc, it's the best thing at the BBQ

Matty's right when it comes to dogs being a peace offering. When I was 15 I got detained by Truant Officers at school, they kicked me off campus, but didn't have any contact info for my parents. (They are VERY private people). I came home with a bag of mixed style hot dogs, elote, Chicago, dangers...etc and just left them on the kitchen counter. Dad came home from work and smelled them, asked, "where'd these come from and why are you home at 2:30?" Took one bite of his danger dog and literally never said another word to me that day. He knew...but the power of a hot dog kept me from getting my ass whooped. Also just wanted to add that 'The Bear" has many of the same vibes that BBCs 'Whites' had. The real feeling of working in a kitchen and having fucking nonsense thrown at you from every turn. LOVE IT! Working my rewatch of the series now. 10/10 'The Bear' best new drama of 2022.

I've been enjoying Chicago hot dogs since the summer of 1964. Back then, the Vienna hot dogs had the cancerous red dye that made them a beautiful bright red. If the dogs didn't shorten your lifespan, the fries cooked in animal fat blocked your arteries. Hell, you're such a wimp, you can't handle a neon green relish. Not a chicago dog without it. 6-7 ingredients: Mustard, diced onion, sweet relish, dill pickle spear, thin Tomato slices, celery salt and sometimes plain cucumber slices. Sport peppers optional. The poppy seed buns have to be from Rosens bakery and must be steamed(even alot of places in chicago do not steam the buns and are never the top rated places. Cheers.
