deadmau5 truly is the "gatekeeper" of electronic music as Richie Hawtin said, 'cause his music is just the perfect inbetween for EDM kids and Underground lovers. He is not commercial but he takes a simple or mainstream idea and produces it within a 6-10 min progression with no Pop star vocals with a beautiful sense of melody and underground mixing that makes him such a genius and rarity in the industry given his popularity these days.

Durrant miller True that, what some underground people don't like is that he created a big name for himself, I can play them Everything Before, Cyclic Redundancy, Some Kind of Blue, Orca, We Fail, among others wich they enjoy until you say it's deadmau5, but underground people don't like being showed music, they preffer to discover it themselves, so I quietly play my music, and if my underground friends like it they'll ask.

When this album came out, I was disappointed because it wasn't what I had expected, having gotten into house music through Daft Punk and Deadmau5 only a couple years before. I hadn't become familiar with underground or darker house yet and I was expecting everything to be a little more close to pop. Now that I have listened and enjoyed this album for about 5 years, I can say there was no true disappointment here, only growth and change. But that's the way it always goes. We become invested in an artist and learn everything about all of their most popular work, and even dig into some of their oldest stuff. Then when we hear they are putting out their first album since you started following them, we set all these strange expectations. I love that Joel breaks them all with every release. I loved while 1
@EAbc-bt6em3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the album was different at the first time. But after a couple weeks it actually was quite interesting. I only knew the basic tracks before(like Aural psynapse, strobe, some chords,...) I think "let go" was one of the most popular tracks of that album. I also remember when it came out.
@Ferrichrome3 жыл бұрын
I think this album has gotten better over time. at first, this was my least favorite mau5 album, I felt like this one was more of a collection of random tracks. compared to his earlier works which all had a similar style to them, this one spans many different moods which is nice. also all the songs on this album are bangers. i definitely think it's worth a spot in anyone's collection!

I don't understand how people could find this boring. The melody is truly unique and each time it repeats it's always done in a different way. This means that deadmau5 truly explores his sounds and doesn't simply make a tune and leave it at that, which is what a lot of EDM artists are doing today.

95' I was walking the stage after 8rh grade graduation. What's not thought about is the the stress I was under brought on by my Dads uncontrolled alcohol abuse followed by trauma of the most wicked ways. Wow. That just roll out of my head 30 years later. , escape emotions that are unfamiliar uncomfortable and uncontrolled. Using makes all the rapid unprovoked, frightening memories , and thd wirlwind of fight or flight feelings, misunderstanding reactions. When I'm on a unplanned psychological break, the absencent stressed state of mind is tucked away and unable to drag down the powerful uncontrolled nature that methamphetamines hooks buried into conscious thought the evil twin, the unassuming subconscious psychological effects. Also, I serve as a therapist without unwanted suggestions, or negative perception. Just my collaboration of personalities directed to unlock any uninhibited safeguard to protect what makes us conscious beings suseptable to anything in which feels damaging or dangerous. See what happens 😩

The synth repetitiveness and progression of the song REALLY reminds me of some classic 90s trance, while also having those 80s retro synth bells thrown into the hook for good measure. I dig it, which doesn't happen often for me for a lot of modern electronic music artists. I heard it on NPR of all places too O_O I hope more of this sort of style comes out of you in the future and please refrain from moderating the GBS forums.

Man, you hit the nail on the head, C.J. NPR was my thing back in high school. My mom and I would be coming home from parent-teacher conference night and have the radio on KCRW and they would be playing a wide mix of different music but whenever trance came on it made me feel like I was at a rave or something and sounded so cool. I really wish trance was more mainstream and that we had an actual radio station for just trance music among the mainstream stations (just like you have for rap music and R&B with stations like Power 106 and Real 92.3 here in California). You have music stations for trance music, but they aren't on the radio. They are online or you have to access them through your mobile phones with satellite music station apps which are fine, but it's not quite the same as having a brick and mortar radio station studio onsite that broadcast to listeners and is just for trance music because then that would prove it has mainstream in the radio business which I don' think it does yet, sadly, otherwise you would hear it everywhere (stores like Ralph's and Vons would jam it from their speakers while you shop) as opposed to just at nightclubs. So in that sense, I think trance still only has fringe appeal among the masses.

Either headphones or a system that actually catches the underlying bass structure, which is so beautiful mixed with the chimes.

I was never a huge fan of Deadmau5 for the longest time despite being very interested in many types of electronic music. I guess I just never heard the right song to get hooked. However after a long, interesting audiophile journey I have come around full circle to his music. It's amazing what you learn to appreciate when you have proper context, and especially proper gear. This song is beautiful, and the bass hit on my EQ'd Audeze LCD-X is so deep and impactful. It amplifies the motion and emotion of the music. Every piece of my audio system is coming together in perfect harmony on this music. Every element is being used to its full capacity. What a satisfying lesson to learn!
