Même sans le choeur, des tourbillons de vie et d'amour. Bravo

A commanding and exciting performance. Bravo Mikko Franck and the Orchestre de Paris!

Absolutely top notch conducting and playing. Ravel was a TRUE genius. The orchestration is utterly virtuosic and sumptuous, exotic, evocative. This performance nailed Daphne and Chloe like I've never heard before. Stunning.

BRAVO!! Wonderful music, beautifully played! Ravel’s orchestration is so clear and lively. I hope there is a complete ‘Ma mère l’Oye’ on YT. Again, thank you for this!

So no choir in the full version, interesting.
@GuillaumeB73 жыл бұрын
There is normally a choir in the full version as well. They probably just could not get one for this performance. Ravel does specify in his score that the notes that the choir is singing can be played by additional instruments instead though.

@@GuillaumeB7 He was rather upset, though, when he found out one of the debuts of the ballet (I believe it was in London?) did not include the choir.

Lovely. But if you're going to play the complete score, DO the complete score- ie with the chorus.

Good grief, how out of tune is everything in the first three minutes or so? Especially the bespectacled oboe player? Yes, it got better as things progressed, albeit with several more intonation car crashes, but the start is simply unforgivable from a highly regarded professional orchestra. And yet these commenters are raving about how great the playing was. Unbelievable!
