The cheikh who produced this video said something that struck me. He said: "mashallah we can see that Islam can live and and prosper even in a place like this." Also, he keeps mentioning the material conditions of the country often comparing it to the West. I believe the perspective should be reversed. We should say "mashallah " and "subhanAllah" Islam can prosper even in a spiritually dead and corrupted to the core civilization like the west which is fundamentally anti religious and where the number one object of life is dunya and material possessions. These Mauritanians are blessed by Allah swt as their not as corrupted and polluted by the empire of the materialist civilization and get to live in an environment that is more conducive to the practice of Islam and where the barren landscape lets humans stay close to Allah. wa Allah a3lam.

السلام عليكم I do not aim this at the one who produced this video , nor do I claim I am blameless but you have a powerful point. I had this same thought speaking with brothers born Muslims in Muslim majority lands whom later migrated to Western lands, ( I was born in the west and live in the west , I reverted to Islam a few years ago ). There is a tremendous love for the west and a belief that it is better and will be better. Many of us don't realize this nor admitted, nor see the fault and contradiction in this thinking. May Allah protect us.

@@markward3981 Salam aleykoum Mark. I just read your comment. I believe you understand my comment was not an attack on Westerners. All humans should be shown compassion even those living in the rich countries of the West. There is a spiritual need here that could never be filled by money, fame or material comfort is really what I was getting at. Conversely, in what we call the Global South, most people live difficult lives materially, socially and politically but many of them are too often oblivious to the blessings that they have that come in the form of a closer connection to nature and traditional ways of living. It's perhaps what we can describe as a paradox or irony... And Allah knows best.

Nope, but they do teach sciences from tasawwuf. Not the sufism we see thats denounced in the Muslim world today. They simply teach what Islam says about the characteristics of the nafs etc.

definitely, you are from India,Pakistan, bangladesh. No body ask this question outside Indian subcontinent. Deobondis, Berelvis -all Indian origin. Even in the west -they are immigrants from India,Pakistan, Bangladesh. Very few locals. Also deobondis, berelvis are hanafis, but North African Arab Muslims are either Maleki or Shafei majhab. No offence Sir, I respect all Muslims. Just clarifying issues you raised.
