Last joke was about it being mandatory in Finland to study Swedish for years, but still most of us never use it in our daily lives and in Sweden we speak english.

Finnish public roads are pretty good. Semi-public roads are maintained and controlled in a committee consisting of the residents of the road. It all depends on their laziness, knowledge and funds. Finnish president does use bus, subway, train and rollerblades. Taxi when he is busy. We have no personal planes or even car with a driver unless it's a seremonial event. Finnish president does not have security or servants. Flag joke was about flags.

the Public road part depends on the municipality.. you go from let's say for example Kuusamo to Salla and you can immediately tell from the road condition where Kuusamo's jurisdiction ends and Sallas begins.. road quality depends pretty much on how much money the small local government has to spend on them.

funny thing, back in 2008, I went to evening school to learn german, because I was going to Germany in 2009 for four months, and once I got there, I spoke english mainly.

I once tried to find out what's the furthest direction you can be from a sauna in Finland. I couldn't find but i suspect anything further than 40 kilometers is impossible.
