Mausritter is absolutely amazing and has given me some of the most enjoyable RPG moments I've had in a while.

Cute mice dying on adventure and being replaced by more cute mice sounds like quite an unexpected combination of things I love.

Awesome to see you cover Mausritter! Into the Odd has a huge number of descendants, including Cairn, Liminal Horror (cosmic horror), Runecairn (Norse fantasy Soulslike), and We Deal in Lead (weird west inspired by The Dark Tower).

I ran a game in Mausritter for my friends a few months ago and it a big hit. I ran it in Owlbear Rodeo and it was much faster than the more complex games like D&D. We go through 3.5 encounters in the same time it would normally take to finish one.

The adventure format is cool. Thanks for the review, I’ve been thinking about buying this game.

The hexcrawl tools are superb. I made an excellent, deep 'wood' using the tables and played through a lot of it with my son. We had a great time. Just played through the "song of the Frogacle" after many months away from the game. It was smooth, simple and fun. My son really loved the short adventure which had some really clever mechanics in there. He even asked me when the next Mausritter session is. This game is stellar.

TABLETALK: "Nate, why are you so tall?" Ok that's a joke, please don't actually ask Nate that 😁 I'll try to think of some more interesting questions! But great video Nate, thanks again. I really can't get excited about the idea of playing as anthropomorphic animals, even though there are a bunch of cool RPGs with this premise - it just doesn't appeal to me. But good to see a little of how the game works - it does look like a very good system (and I loved the shoutout I saw to Brambly Hedge as one of their inspirations). I can definitely see kids enjoying it with a bit of guidance.

Mausritter sounds fun. I'll hafta suggest it to our D&D group. Table Talk Questions: What was your challenging commissioned map and why? What was your most gratifying map you've ever made (commissioned or personal), and why? And of course: What's your favorite cereal (or scotch as you prefer *grin*) ? Sorry I missed the map stream and this post - a few personal things came up for me recently, I'll fill you in on the next patreon stream ;)

Table talk questions: 1. How can WOTC salvage psionics from their attempt in 5e with the mystic, without just slapping spell casting as their main feature? 2. In what ways should WOTC help supplement the lesser two of the three pillars during gameplay (that is, the exploration and role playing aspect of the game that usually is unsupported) 3. Instead of reusing older edition settings and rewriting lore for those settings, should WOTC focus more on creating newer settings and exploring different niche rulesets or niche themes for the world? 4. Does the attitudes towards rules and classes from 5e impact the games future in a negative way, such as the assumption that marital characters cannot perform superhuman feats due to it not being “realistic” while hand waving spell casters capabilities? 5. Does WOTC writing in adventures heavily affect the communities perception of gameplay, causing belief in the community certain features such as flight or large creatures being more overpowered than they are for homebrew campaigns?

1) They don't need to. 2) I reject the premise of the question. You imply combat is the most important aspect of the game. What does the RP in RPG stand for again? 3) I agree. WotC needs to produce shorter modules (like I6 Ravenloft size) as well as new epic campaigns and unused locations. 4) Changing the focus from well trained, growing story-arch warriors, on a dangerous epic journey, with no map to guide you, and an assigned graph paper, pencil, and eraser wielding cartographer, needed and having them required to right a major wrong (true old school, 70s & 80s))... to (today) super heroes, preforming feats beyond Superman has taken away from the game, not added to it. All these many new Classes, Sub-Classes, Races, Feats, Ability supplement books, etc has turned D&D into a game of Craps, just dice rolling. D&D (to me) was better as 5e was originally introduced. I've played pretty much everything from 1976 on and 5e was 2 inches short of perfect at first. 5) WotC and Homebrewing are opposite sides of the same coin. Homebrewing is just a house-rule version of 5e or whatever game system is being used by the group. People nerf up and down for Homebrewing. WotC is only a guide for it at best. Interesting questions.

Do you think you could maybe make a guide for making a Mausritter compatible map? I really struggle with sizing and I am always unsure how much to put inside a hex that the size is realistic but still manageable for the mice

I was wondering if you could do a product review of Dungeons and Dragons The Adventure Begins. This is a cooperative board game of dungeons and dragons. It was how i got into the game and i think it would be cool if you gave your thoughts on it. Ps. thank you for all your tutorial videos they helped so much. Your character creation guide video brought my time on creating a character down from "Ugg I give up" to "hey that only took me three hours.

Only 1 day later at viewing, on the official web-site, and at $55.00, it's already SOLD OUT. And in having played D&D in the mid 70s and 80s, I'm not getting an "old school" vibe at all with this. Old school is story/goal oriented, by HEAVY exploration, with a fear of the unknown around every turn in your searching, and done in a basement, hidden away from your parents. This seems more of the same-old new-school play, and a family-friendly or kid-friendly vibe, with heavy combat, geared towards the player(s) mechanics, but to each their own I guess.
@WASD20 Жыл бұрын
I think the old school vibes come through in certain elements of the style of play: no set story, but more driven by player choice and exploration (think Keep on the Borderlands), deadly (yes I think fear if the unknown is definitely present here), no concept of “balance” but rather rewarding clever thinking and careful planning, emphasis on loot as a way to advance your character, hirelings, hideouts and strongholds, and more. Certainly the mouse thing is a deviation, and there are certainly others, but the elements of the game I listed above are all pretty widely regarded as old school. Things that mainstream RPGs left behind long ago.

@WASD20 Sorry, I don't see a connection to TSR mods like KotB, etc., but no disrespect, as I said, to each their own.
