The Details and Terrace Story sound like great books, I will add them to my list. I'm currently reading Dead Astronauts by Jeff Vandermeer and it's a surreal style book with alternate stories in alternate dimensions. It doesn't seem sci-fi because it's told in folklore way, which is quite beautiful.

The Details! i read it in swedish so i can’t speak about the english translation but it was a quick and enjoyable read. always interesting to see which swedish books make it internationally. very much a book in line with the current trends i suppose but that’s not bad if you do it well enough

I’ll have to pick up a couple of these, especially the Deborah Levy book. I’m currently reading “1Q84” by Murakami. It’s a commitment. 😂but extremely engrossing and brilliantly written. I’m 400 pages in. Wild stuff.

Loooved tonight's vibe mauve So I'm really curious about Terrace story, on how can she describe this manipulation of space, make you feel it. But now it seems I also have to read Temporary, so thank you for enlarging my already endless tbr list 😬😅 (honestly I love adding books to it hahaha and most of the time, I look from the bottom when I have to pick one) Ps I find really funny the 'a novel' remark on those books, that just by the cover, couldn't be anything but a novel😂

Totally! Whenever I see "a novel" on the cover I feel like it's the marketers saying: we can't afford to lose potential readers, who can't be trusted to figure this out for themselves!!!!

Ooh terrace story and temporary sound like such good reads!! Definitely picking those up. I’m currently reading Piranesi by Susanna Clarke and absolutely loving it. Have you read it?

I have a thing for novels about dreary jobs, so Temporary is appealing. Mezzanine by Nicholson Baker, for instance, is a favourite of mine. At the moment I'm reading Invisible by Paul Auster. I found it in a charity shop for 50p and it's unexpectedly powerful. Also picked up Esther Yi's Y/N and a couple of Ben Lerner books last weekend which I'm keen to get around to soon. P.S. I read First Love by Gwendoline Riley recently. Not sure if you've read that yet. Not as good as My Phantoms imo but still excellent. She's magic.

Haven't read First Love yet but it's on my list!! She IS magic. I've heard of The Mezzanine and it's been on my to-buy list -- maybe from a rec from you? 😅 Someone else here recommended Long Live the Post Horn! to me. I haven't read it yet but sounds like it might be up your alley 💜
