I actually did invade Liechtenstein accidentally… i had to set up an antenna at Festung St. Luzisteig and simply drove down the hill with the Puch on the wrong side. I only figured it out in Balzers, when the people started looking and laughing at me

A dude from Swiss once told me, you are peaceful only when you are capable of violence and choose not to. If you are not capable of violence, you're just harmless. That's probably why Swiss had their all out defense program and mandatory military service.

​@@moogiibat5845Well, those two terrain are the worst nightmare for a conventionnal military. Both Sun Tzu and Mao said that warfare is easier for the one who control those terrains. Urban warfare is also the worst of the worst but is not determined by natural environnement, unlike mountains and forests.

​​@@angamaitesangahyando685then you'd have to surround Switzerland on all sides. We're small, but not that small. You'd need millions of men for that. And we can mobilise A LOT of men. We're 60% self sufficient. The rest may be able to be filled by victory gardens. Happened many times before in history.

in a fight between say the usa and the swiss id argue the swiss would hold out for years the americans lack the mountain experience, the swiss have been digging trenches since ww1 , every man has served and has a rifle at home, national pride is not a nice tto have ttzing but a must.... they might not be " experienced " but their doctrines and trainings are like any other armies with the big advantage they have being that they will allways only fight in their own teritory , their own countries , their mountains US forces are everywhere but have mastered no terain truely @@SnkHetz

Never forget that every armies in Europe used to have Swiss mercenaries regiment to reinforce their army and this for centuries! Swiss soldiers had a tremendous reputation of fierce fighters all across europe. Last remaining sign of that is the swiss guard of the Vatican in Rome

the hipfiring at 1:28 is, really most badass i've ever seen in media. People on the internet pretend hipfiring is a unrealistic movie trope, but if you are actually firing 7.5X55 swiss or any .30 cal cartridge at full-auto, you legitimately need to flex just to stop it jumping out of your hand

Neutrality doesn't mean you are a pacific. It means that you will not get involved in other people business, but also, that no one will ever help you if you get attacked. Thus, neutral countries like Switzerland must be armed to the teeth to survive.

Imagine a country with most adults having an army issued rifle and ammos in their homes, all having military training. Being mobilized, they can build a serious and quick response troop. Hell, they still had explosives under some bridges until the late 90s, bunkers disguised as houses. No one can mess with switzerland, the whole country is a fortress. Massive respect from your french neighbours

When told a German army would be twice as big as their own army in the event of invasion, a Swiss general said we will simply use 2 shots to kill the enemy instead of 1.

@@heyhoe168 It was very useful for the Germans to have a neutral Switzerland. They could do deals there that weren't possible in wartime Germany. Plus they could syphon off money a nd valuables there that would have ended up in the Allies hands.

@@jonhart7630 No, they traded externally mostly via fascist Spain. Switzerland, however was an arms supplier for Germany. Which sounds evil, but alternatively they would become occupied arms producer, just as Czechoslovakia.

I'm sure they have plans but they're probably very Guerilla, as attacking in Switzerland is hard for anybody, especially if you have no logistical support from anywhere in the world safe from enemy fire. Switzerland would have virtually or literally nothing safe from enemy fire. Unless they have some extra insane facilities in the mountains...

I have one of those wild helmets of theirs, as well as a STG57 Bayonet made by Wenger and a full rucksack set with breadbag. Swiss equipment is a worthy investment and will serve you and your kids for many decades.

@@tavish4699 In what way specificly? The reason ukraine turned into a trench warfare was because tanks were basicly outknocked by javelins ect. Tanks are for 60% of swiss terrain from the get go useless. Hence Infantery and therefore trenches or tunnels will come around. What made the trenches almost obsolete in WW2 was the fast pace take out tanks and everything slows down.

The idea is actually that the red blends in with brown and green. Your eye gets tricked in the distance and it looks more greyish. Sounds weitd I know but it works.

I remember this film being shown during my Recruit School in Chur in summer of 1979. Many of the weaponry is now even forbidden by international rules, such as flamethrowers and anti personnel mines.

Flamethrowers are not illegal actually. Flame weaponry is only illegal in specific context, specificlsly if there is potential for civilian casualties from said incendary weapons, even collatoral. Flamethrowers are barley used because they are obsolete not because they are illegal.

Belle sélection d'images. J'ai fait mon service en 2013, c'était pas aussi nerveux que ça. À l'époque ça faisait six mois qu'on s'interrogeait mollement pour savoir si les Syriens avaient utilisé des gaz de combat... bon. Et le pire c'est qu'en 2022 on était était encore la première armée d'Europe en terme de dynamique de mobilisation. Espérons que les temps qui courent mettent un bon coup de pied au cul à ce continent de mollusques, c'est pourtant exhaltant quand on est aussi jeune de savoir qu'on porte sur ses épaules la sécurité de tout un pays!

Ein sehr alter Film, dieser Film musste noch vor meiner RS 1976 gemacht worden sein. Den Helm gab es damals nicht mehr (nur ältere Wehrmänner hatten ihn noch). Das Sturmgewehr 57 kurz darauf ersetzt und den Hunter kann man im Museum betrachten :-)

@@danijelarsic8095 I'd say it is. Warfare in general (and modern one in particular) is not about individual systems, but about logistics and being able to withstand attrition. A wealthy nation can afford a lot more preperation, stockpiles and industry, therefore has a lot more fat to hold up in bad times.

Tanks/Planes get the glory, Infantry do the Fighting/Dying. Give infantry the tools they need to deal with any situation and you have a strong obstacle in the way of any invading army.

But really cold once wet .. I liked the camouflage pattern better than what they issued us in 91 .. but new gear was superior to the old stuff in most areas! ( Swiss militia man from 86-2005)
