@@mr.radovic702 If NATO soldiers were actually sent there, it would be a massacre and mainly on the side of NATO soldiers. They have no combat experience, they are sugar dolls from the training ground. it can happen during the training of Ukrainian conscripts in NATO countries. The vast majority of them, after returning to the front, realized that the training was of no use to them, because the training was completely out of touch with reality. In the same way, the fighting tactics adopted from NATO broke the neck of the Ukrainians during the "offensive" in the summer of 2023. Therefore, the UA returned to its way of fighting.

@@ciril123456789 i uhhhhhhhhhh, wasn't talking about combat proficiency. I was SPECIFICALLY saying that what is shown is a 'Potemkin exercise' which does not do anything to enhance and train the soldier, rather it is there to be used as a show of force and look good for the propaganda reels. To counter you, we have no idea how it would have played out. Also, WP troops had poorer training and similarly no combat experience of note.

One inaccuracy: the Red Army operation was not an invasion of Polish territory, because this territory was taken by Poland from the Soviet Belarus and Soviet Ukraine, These lands are populated by ethnic Ukrainians and Belarusians - they experienced discriminatory, segregationist policies of the Polish state - it literally made them second-class citizens. It's almost the same as Nazi racial policy.Jaruzelski was among the interned Polish soldiers - that is true.

@@danielfijalkowski95 What follows from this? That these territories had not previously been taken away from the Soviet republics by Poland? Why, when the foreign policy situation changed, the USSR had to ignore the needs of the workers of Belarus and Ukraine and not take advantage of the fall of the hostile Polish anti-communist regime. Name at least one reason why the USSR had to put the interests of the Polish propertied classes above its own interests, or, more broadly, the interests of the international proletariat. It would have been nice if the USSR could have single-handedly won the fight against the Third Reich in 1939 and defended Polish independence as a proletarian state, but there were no funds for this, besides -the In mid-1939, the military-political situation did not guarantee against the unification of efforts of Nazi Germany and anti-communist states: the USA, Great Britain, France, etc. , with the aim of establishing capitalist near-fascist dictatorships on the territory of the USSR, following the example of those that they established in 1918-22. The Second World War was inevitable, an attack on the USSR was inevitable, and the question was: would Germany attack with the support of England/France, or to break up the Entente so as not to share with it the resources and territories that German capital wanted to seize in the East.

The Warsaw Pact, a guarantee of peace in Europe. That's what they said and that's how it was. In those days it was hard to imagine a force that would want to confront the forces of the Warsaw Pact. I remember that time, you only heard about the war from documentary programs. Today, war lurks everywhere. An American politician once said "A state that takes the security of its citizens seriously should have an army so huge, with weapons so terrible, that no potential enemy will even think about attacking it." The forces of the Warsaw Pact fulfilled this perfectly.

Hungary in the Socialist era the soldiers called the army "operett army" because it was more theatrical than a real army in their opinion. However they were kicked ass in many levels but he always told the descendants they were not all professional soldiers. My father was an MP and he still have stroies where they almost got shot. An escaped soldier who took many ammo from an armory and started to cross in the woods. The man was hit by a truck from a mine on a road when he accidentally stepped from a bush to the line of the truck. So an accident stopped the whole drama. My pa and his comerades almost reached an area with few ammo to stop him and they were scared to death because the man were loaded with a lots of gear while they got only the ordinary 1 magazine for their AMD65. At the time when they arrived only there was the corpse of the escaped soldier and police around and the truck driver who was in shock because he killed a man. By the way that could be a chatastrophe if the guy would start to shoot all the ammo which he stole from the armory.

After that, politics considered armament completely unnecessary. 99% were crushed in the 90s and 2000s. (e.g. MiG29s that did not have 300 flight hours were sentenced to death...)

Short take off was necessary in case of nuclear attack. It reduced the time of complete evacuation of all airplanes. So by the time the incoming ballistic missiles hit the airfields all jets were scrambled and on their way to intercept enemy aircraft. This whole training exercise was westward attack after nuclear strike. Basically during cold war everyone expected war only after the nukes were dropped.
