I associate this song with Christmas. I see homeless people and children on the sidewalk and I start thinking about this song and start singing it soon after.

I first heard this song at the time photos of the orphans in Romania were being shown; when the tyrant Caucesco ( can't spell his name) was in power. The photos of those children haunted me. And it is still happening all over this crazy World; the innocents always suffer.I thought the words of this song reflected their suffering.

I heard this for the first time yesterday. By coincidence I had also head a few days before that the school I attended, Fort Augustus Abbey School in Inverness-hire, Scotland was finally to be included in the investigations into sexual and physical abuse carried out in the institutions of the UK over several decades. We were the children who could never forget..we still cannot.
