To me, the keys to the game are Irving (because of how he's struggled there), Lively (who seems COMPLETELY unfazed by the pressure), and at least one of the three athletic guys (Exum/Jones/Green) stepping up. You know Luka is going to get 30 and you'll get 10-15 from PJ. You have several bench players (now including Hardaway) capable of getting you 10-15 (or 3 guys getting you 5-8), which means if you get what you SHOULD from Irving, Lively, and one of the 6'6 defenders, there's very little Boston can do to score enough to win. That defense isn't getting any softer, even in Boston. It's all up to the offense from those guys (or Luka FINALLY having a huge night and going for 40-50).

Correct. But there are SIGNS that it really is one despite the lead. Boston not getting above 107? Unable to keep Luka below 27 points (while Brown had 10 and Tatum 15 in the last game). Kyrie going off 2 games in a row. The role players dominating despite none of them having a big game (except Hardaway in garbage time). You see Dallas capable of outperforming Boston in many areas, even though they couldn't put it all together in the first 3 games. So now that they have, they just need to play the same way with the same intensity 3 times. If you saw them play the Clippers, OKC, and Minnesota, you'd know they're capable of it, it's just a question if they will do it again.

Game 5 is a must-win for the Celtics imo. It's not just that they lost Game 4; it's the decisive fashion in which they lost. The Mavs have firmly snatched back momentum, and may have even found a way to turn the series completely on its head. The Celtics better have had a long film session about Game 4 and what they need to do to respond. The question is, will they? I'm picking the Mavs to extend the series once more until I'm proven wrong.

as a boston resident I was already a little nervous before the game 4 blowout. every game had stretches where it looked like the mavs could win and even though the ECF was a sweep, every game there felt losable too. i wish we had that player that just had that move they could rely on to almost always get you that 1 bucket when you need it...but i feel like we don't so opponents can just go on huge runs against us without an answer. i just have a bad feeling this is going to 6 or 7 but i hope im wrong. to be the first 3-0 to get reverse swept would put JB/JT's legacy in such a deep hole that it would be almost impossible to recover...fans would NEVER be able to overlook that black stain on their resume even if they eventually won a couple rings. i hope the celtics consider that and play like it's a game 7 tonight and end it.

I said Mavs would win 2 games this series. Expected them to play with a sense of urgency in game 3 and perhaps win that one... they came out strong... but, Celtics came out on top due to being well balanced and consistent at both ends. Celtics just weren't focused in game 4. They were bound to have a bit of a dip after securing game 3. Mavs really dropping the hammer and blowing the out by midway through the 3rd qtr sent a message though. I'm glad Mavs didn't capitulate... but, I never really thought they stood a chance against the Celtics. I couldn't be further from a Celtics fan... but, Celtics are just too good at both ends for the Mavs. Mavs need either Washington or Hardaway to contribute at least 20+ more consistently to win a series. They just don't have that in them yet. Both are great athletes, and talents scorers... but, just not night-in... night-out.

But the fact that Lively is this impactful on offense on tnat short roll and maybe that 3. Even more on defense, this guy has length, height, IQ on offense and defense. And hes still a rookie. A promising future for the mavs fs. But the possession you showed just minutes earlier proves that he really isnt looking to score, cause you even said yourself that in this situation (down 18) you want Tatum (as the best Celtics player) to create a shot, but him just nonchalantly setting a screen for White to burp up an early 3 shows that he has been disengaged and too passive in these finals 🤷‍♂️

@@jamaswoody6452 You sound like a tard....stop using "Bro". Boston hasn't scored above 107 against Dallas in the Finals. That's not a bad shooting night, it's a pattern. The Mavs did have the lower scores....because they have 9 guys in their rotation and 8 of them have never been to a finals (Boston has 5 who've been to multiple CF and a Final). They played scared on offense until they got back to Dallas. Now they're playing decently on offense so if it continues, Boston can't score enough to beat them. Dallas just proved they can put up over 120 on Boston and not a SINGLE player had a big night. They just all contributed. That's the difference you're not seeing when you assume they didn't score because they just didn't feel like it. Yeah, Tatum wants to average 20ppg in the Finals (and Brown 21ppg). I'm sure that's what they've always dreamed of.

8:20 Maybe the ref isn't supposed to say you're not allowed to shoot a floater from the three point line, but Luka's happy feet don't look to me "like a floater", they look like a travel... I let this advance a little further, and I see Coach Nick picked up on that, for once.

It's worth noting that the Heat were down 3-0 against the Celtics and forced a game 7 just last year. It's also happened once in the finals back in 1951 with the Knicks, if Mavs pull off a win on Monday, it's going to put a lot of pressure on the Celtics in game 6, and that pressure will grow in a game 7 if that happens, by then I'd give the advantage to the Mavs. Game 5 is a must win for the Celtics, and each new game piles on the pressure for them. Likewise, elimination games are always must wins, but the Mavs are expected to lose. I do think Porzingis is the biggest factor in this series, he is by far the best big on the floor, but if he is injured, even if he plays, it might not matter.

These are the worst responses ever. What serious athletes would throw a game? Never mind that you're accusing them of doing something unethical and illegal, you are calling them dumb. Any game can result in injury for a player and in a series that could be the difference between winning and losing. Just accept they got beat. And support them anyway. Go Mavs! 💙💙

I love to see the underdog win but the Celtics are closing. The Mavs hasn’t shown they can handle the heat of playing in Boston. Slowing down Kyrie takes away half their strength plus the Celtics are more efficient offensively

While I don't think any Celtics player would ever throw a game, PLENTY in that organization would opt for conservative play over competitive risk-taking if it meant likely being crowned champions in Boston rather than Dallas. There's no conspiracy at play here- but both franchises, as well as the league at large, had a lot of $$$ to gain by not having this end in a straight sweep. Again, not saying that's (why) the blowout happened- but you're delusional if you think it wasn't a major factor.

@mattschurenko3032 you're straight up braindead if you think the Celtics are getting outrebounded by 20 while at the same time the mavs go +11 in FTAs. Rebounding = effort, and that's a great way to throw a game..just don't go for boards and the other team gets an extra 10-12 possessions. Scripted as hell, even Luka not playing D in the first few games and all of a sudden figuring out is SUS.

@@garebaregoof4226 There`s levels to it, just like to complaining. Luka has very weak fundamentals, travels on lot of his stepbacks, switches or slides his pivot, shuffles to start a blowby. Other will have a couple per game while Luka spams them with the dozens.

I disagree with your explanation on why that wasn't a foul on Luka. Shoulders were way ahead of the feet when contact was initiated by Luka. Doesn't really matter as Luka did travel twice before that contact
@arguseyed9982
@arguseyed9982 9 күн бұрын
Its ok if that is a foul, but then why the Tatum vs Kyrie is an offensive foul? And you can take the other example when Luka did it vs Horford - Horford was slightly moving away when contact occurs, still called a foul on him. And yes, that too was a travel.
@Colin995
@Colin995 9 күн бұрын
@@arguseyed9982 I meant to type wasn't not was. Should have been an offensive foul. The Tatum Kyrie one should have been a defensive foul as Kyrie wrapped his arms around Tatum a couple of times. I don't remember the Horford foul
