Thank you for making this video! I have been looking into getting the Mavic Air SPECIFICALLY because of it's travel-friendly and 4K nature, and that charger is going to be a frustrating problem. Honestly, it wouldn't even bother me if they sold a USB charging solution separately, so long as you don't have to carry around that massive charging brick. I'm working on a layout where I can carry all of my personal stuff as well as my equipment in a personal item bag (some airlines are now charging for carry on bags, plus I love traveling light). This is something I hope they come out with a solution for.

so after playing with this thing, the major problem is the mavic controller battery life. It does not last long at all. Maybe an hour or less and there is no back up battery for it. Seems almost pointless to have a ton of drone batteries. Do you guys have any solution to this?
@Achisachis736 жыл бұрын
I see how you do not understand power and batteries in general. Drones use a huge amount of power out of the batteries. We now take it for granted how small batteries are and do not realize the technology that was put in there to make it happen. Batteries hold so much power that when charging, you either use USB and take forever to charge or, use the "brick" as you call it and charge faster. You cannot have it both ways, it works in many situations, Physics is the same everywhere. Look at a manual transmission of a car, you get lots of torque in first gear but, no speed. There is always a trade-off and batteries... you either take your time trickle charging with a USB port or, use the provided power supply. What you do not get to do is, charge the battery with a tiny USB cable and do it in ten minutes on the road. Imagine how long it would take to charge them with USB?!!! And where do you think you would plug the USB cable to? your phone? LOL Take it easy man

I lost sight of my Mavic Air in 2018, I hit home return. I'm hoping it will return soon it's been 4 years now..

you dont have to carry that powerbank around for space problems thats why the bag included holds it all now thats handy plus there is a smaller charger for it usb i have one so this rant is useless

You can buy portable drone chargers. Maybe you couldn't back then though.

This is a real issue & to solve the problem of car charging without buying the DJI car charger I brought a $10 car charging inverter with AC output to charge magic air via it's default charger

I just ordered a Mavic Air and the problem I am struggling with is to find a solution to charge it from a power bank somehow. I did not even receive the Drone yet but I realise that this is a major problem.

Please correct me if I'm wrong (and I would love to be wrong here), but I think it only includes the Battery to Power Bank Adapter (store.dji.com/product/mavic-air-battery-to-power-bank-adapter) which only pulls juice from the Mavic Air battery to charge a phone or something similar and can not be used to actually charge the Mavic Air battery. Does it come with something else? Thanks for watching!

If the power bank has a 5V USB output then you can pug the into standard USB mains charger. Admittedly a plug top adapter itself is not provided but any small plugtop charger with a 5V USB output should fit the bill. I cannot see any difference plugging into a powerbank or plugtop.

Its only one way, you cannot charge the mavic air battery, only use it to charge other usb devices.
@gavsmith19806 жыл бұрын
Barry Coomber Okay my brain melted there.... what? You can use the power bank adaptor to charge USB powered devices using power from a mavic air battery. This guy wants to charge mavic air batteries via USB, which can't be done.
@barrycoomber53126 жыл бұрын
gavsmith1980 ok i stand corrected. I had the spark and you could charge via the USB port on the drone itself. I assumed you could do this on the mavic air but bad assumption. Guess I will need extra batteries.

dji make it so hard to charge that mavic air controller...

very true. i'm googling this right now as I have just experienced it. Have you figured out a solution yet? There's no point buying a ton of drone batteries which I did when controls dont even last that long.

Would be amazing if you could just plug in a usb
@johnnydepp41146 жыл бұрын
you could, but it would take forever to charge as usb cant supply enough current to charge fast
