@@redman67902011 was without a DOUBT and will be the most beloved title here in the city of Dallas because it was our first and anticipated chip at the helm of the great Dirk Nowitzki. If the Mavs get the title this year it will be no doubt GREAT but none after 2011 will compare.

It’s insane. I’ve always liked him as a player but as a person between the time he got out of Cle and when he got to the Mavs, I honestly hated him. But to see this maturity, the true spiritual and human development, is so inspirational. Now he sounds like a real role model, a real leader, and someone we can all learn a lot from.

@mariopippin3008 No. Last year, when Luka made that comment, He and his mom were in a legal battle over the rights to his name. This was particularly contentious because his mom had basically raised him, but his dad had recently got back into the picture and I've heard speculation that the lawsuit had a lot to do with his mom and dad fighting with each other through him. So when he said he didn't like playing basketball at that moment he was talking more about what basketball brings in his world.

See, Kidd again said he's "just watching"... People used that same quote against him when things were bad, but he's consistent with it when things are good! Like he said, "it's a players league, not a coaches league"... He gives credit to the players always... but when he first said "I'm just watching" last season, he was just saying that he can't make the plays for them because he's just a coach, and being a player who was a great "QB" for his team, he knows it's a "players league"! I hope next season the Kidd hate will cease.

People gotta stop saying Batman and Robin or 1st and 2nd best player… Kyrie and Luka are equally good, they just had different skill sets. Just like Kobe and Shaq both scored nearly 30 points but other than that they had their own unique way to help the team… same with Kyrie and Luka! One doesn’t shine truly without the other. They need each other and they need the entire team. Basketball is team sport not individual sport.

Ppl keep saying Kyrie is a 1B but I think Luka and him pick their moments. Kyrie seems to prefer late game situations because he knows he’s quick and crafty and Luka prefers game management. I think they complement each other in terms of styles. Mike can’t guard nobody so when he’s the matchup that’s a bucket lol they’re just a terrible matchup for the wolves lol.

Find me the Mavs and put together a roster around Luka Who has been one of the best players in the league for years now with Kyrie by his side who is one of the best ballhandlers I’ve ever seen and a fantastic scorer also when they picked lively they picked a real winner can’t wait to see with his kids career goals and Gafford and Washington the missing pieces that they needed I can’t see them being stopped there is good team is I’ve ever seen and with Kyrie and Luka Leading the way they should bring home a championship I’ve been a Mavs fan every since Tim Duncan retired Who played for San Antonio and he will always be one of my favorites but I have been a Mavs fan every sense so I have seen their ups and downs I saw how Dirk and kid and Jason terry let them to the championship now I’m to see if Luka And Kyrie can you relieve them to another championship let’s go Mavs

1B These NBA superlatives are all built by media and fans who have never played basketball on even a high school level. "Batman and Robin" and "1 and 1B" is just talk show yakety yak that people have latched on to. This is not how guys are viewed inside the locker room.

Not sure what’s going on with media accolades these days, but Kyrie and Luka haven’t even won the Western Conference Finals yet, but they are already being considered for the title of greatest backcourt in NBA history? Seriously?

hot takes and narratives. Just like Ant the next face/Jordan. Been happening for ions unfortunately. Just more intense and repetitive talking heads modern times. and it can turn some fans off about certain individuals who are LAUDED prematurely when its not the players fault lol but 100

@@PRODIGY-AND-HAVOC Both of those things are possible (Luka & Ky being the best backcourt & Ant being the 'next Jordan'), but the media sure gets carried away. We won't know if any of that is true until years from now, if these guys win chips (or even stay healthy enough to stay in the league).

Not a stretch to say they're 2 of the most talented offensive guards to ever play. No one would or could ever dispute that. So Stan Van Gundy said they're the most talented "offensive" duo historically because they're paired together now. I'm a Celtics fan but a hoops fan, and believe Stan's statement to be true. He chose his words very carefully and was both accurate and eloquent on this and many other perspectives during the telecast. These guys are simply phenomenal.
