This was particularly contentious because his mom had basically raised him, but his dad had recently got back into the picture and I've heard speculation that the lawsuit had a lot to do with his mom and dad fighting with each other through him. So when he said he didn't like playing basketball at that moment he was talking more about what basketball brings in his world.

See, Kidd again said he's "just watching"... People used that same quote against him when things were bad, but he's consistent with it when things are good! Like he said, "it's a players league, not a coaches league"... He gives credit to the players always... but when he first said "I'm just watching" last season, he was just saying that he can't make the plays for them because he's just a coach, and being a player who was a great "QB" for his team, he knows it's a "players league"! I hope next season the Kidd hate will cease.
