@@KingsRCI absolutely agree gds hardened spur and pinion. Or gds spur and extra hard Robinson racing Pinion are also great combo. Also check your mesh sometimes it’s best to loose the motor pins and set mesh yourself bro. But it’s hard to beat WFO gears if you can get them. Best of luck

It's not your ESC or your motor it's the quality of the gears. In 560 amps go through my xlx2 and I've actually never broken a b&m gear. I did however strip out my stocks gears with the stock xmaxx system

I was just having the same problems with my xmaxx its fairly new got it for my birthday in March I also just installed a max6 esc and I didn’t matter what gearing combination I ran they all stripped I found my Cush drive needed a rebuild and I did the o ring mod to get rid off the up and down movement and also put a piece of foil tape around both of the bearings I’m now running 25t gds pinion and factory 46t spur with no issue so far I even been self righting it so I say check to Cush drive👍

Everyone always complains about the xmaxx gears, i have the cheapest spur/pinion i could get off amazon in my truck right now just to see if i could destroy them. Today was my second time out running two sets of batteries through both times and the gears are still fine. If you don’t set your mesh correctly,the motor moves or something gets in the it’s gonna destroy the gears. I’m using a max 6 esc and the stock xmaxx motor with punch on 9 and I’ve never lost a gear. I have the little metal spacers that go between the motor bolts and the chassis to give it a better spot to tighten against.
@lanyburnett796611 ай бұрын
That’s obviously a mesh issue. How are you mounting the motor, and setting mesh? You definitely need to upgrade to the M2C motor mount and chassis brace. I run all that, with Vitavon Mod 1.5 gears, and everything is bulletproof. Anytime you change gears, you need to upgrade the mounting and meshing method as well.

Which one should I go for between X-maxx vs Losi 2.0 DBXLE? My requirement is should be fun and speedy and durable
@KingsRC2 жыл бұрын
I dont own a losi dbxle.. The xmaxx would be more durable as long as u take care of your throttle control on landing to avoid breaking gears.. if you want speed and scale looking i would say the losi...the reason i love the xmaxx is fun factor is 10/10 and its light for its size.. hope this helps anyway dude! Stay tuned!

The smaller spur gear can’t overcome the huge truck and tires as fast. So what’s happening, the gears are trying so hard to get it moving they destroy their self. Larger spur gear gives the gear more power over the truck and the big tires.
@KingsRC3 жыл бұрын
Thats true bro, i put on an 18t and 50spur steel gears and it last longer, only thing is less tourque but at least it last,, Thanks for watching bro, hope your subbed to the channel 👍😊
@Stellar_Novaa Жыл бұрын
It’s actually more torque but less wheel speed which is why you notice on that gearing it wheelies super easy and snappy but the mid air correction and rotation isn’t as responsive when it comes to flips and big corrections. It takes the initial torque to initiate rotation but you need wheel speed to balloon tires and help the truck complete its rotation. Anyways sucks about the gears man, I have a max6 on punch 4 in mine with a Tekno 20t and stock 46 spur and haven’t had a single issue yet. I have beat on it and been doing a lot of asphalt wheelies and drifting and throttle snaps on jump landings for slap wheelie’s and I haven’t stripped a thing. I almost wonder if you have a bent motor shaft or spur drive shaft. Iv seen these where even the slightest bend will shred gears no matter what you try. Also someone stated above check your cush drive. Idk how long you have had the truck and they don’t need rebuilding a lot but check it anyways just to make sure. It also could be a combo of those. Just sounds like something is out of alignment in one or more spots. Hopefully you get it figured out man! Always a bummer when gears strip. Also gears are so expensive for the Xmaxx. You’ll get it figured out tho!

Your problem is with using the wrong pitch. Two gear manufacturers don't have the same cut even if advertised. I tend to pair gear together from brand. Also traxxas has hardened gears now. Lastly if you continue to have problems your allinement is off or a shaft is bent

Too much heat and friction in the gears and they get soft, then when you add the torque it just rips the metal apart.

@@KingsRC yea if you land on throttle you’ll break gears, doesn’t have anything to do with punch. That completely solves your issues here lol
@KingsRC3 жыл бұрын
@@V8chump yeah your right man its throttle on landing, but i notice if you had punch high and landing on throtle the chances of breaking is higher due to more tourque on that thottle, where as less punch wont solve the issue but 'some' landing on throttle may 'just' survive with throttle less tourque, hope this makes sense anyways 😅 thanks for the input and commenting man, please stay tuned 😊
@V8chump3 жыл бұрын
@@KingsRC hell yea I’ll stay tuned! But yea I think it’s just about the wheel speed when landing (off throttle) so punch 5 let’s you hit much higher RPM before you land which is what does it, I always try to baby tap by brakes RIGHT before I hit the ground if I high high wheel speed, even if It’s gonna mess up my landing. That said I don’t have an xmaxx, I have the e revo 2.0 which has about the same gears as the xmaxx with much less power going through them, probably why I haven’t stripped all my gears yet! 🤣 I just burned my Vxl-6 esc and when I went to the max6 (default punch 3) it feels really laggy when it comes to air control so I feel like traxxas escs are always set to 100% punch since there’s no punch setting to change and everything felt immediate on the stock esc. gonna give punch 5 a try later and let ya know how it compares to stock punch, that should tell us if it’s the punch or the gears givin you problems 😁

I hope you found the right gearrs for this. All the gears shown strip easy, I use belt drives, gas pinion gears s and wfo spurs. The belt drive never. Break as long as you put 2 set screws on all hold downs. Wfo has been hit r miss, saga racing seems to work well. Stock and tracing are brittle. FYI anyone having this issue. After 1 years of stunting in my yard, I overpower to get fast run ups and constantly use full break using Xlx2 100kv geared high. I’m harder than anyone with full still start. Belt is the way to go honestly. Ive never worn one out or replaced them. You do have to go through it every 5 runs make sure everything tight. I’ll be doing a 10 year of failing till I got it right. lol I know your pain brother!
