In this video, Lee has blue eyes. So they made him wear those contact lenses in the film just to look more scary, more unnatural, or what? I don't see why he could not play a Sindarin elf with his own eye color.

miki riki the unnatural light blue color of those contact lenses was a characteristic of elf family. Orlando has to wear them aswell. Lee's eyes are dark green actually.
