I'm 83 years old and I can still recite both stories. What a wonderful memory

Brings back fond memories of finding this 45rpm single among my Mother's record collection way back in my youthful days & cracking up laughing every time I played it!!

Thankyou for sharing this. My parents used many of these phrases & manglements & I have continued to use them. At last I know where they come from. Just last week I told how I taught my 4 year old daughter " "I wish I was a fairy Queen" when she went to school. 😄❤🐜

This dates back many decades when I was still a youngster - we as kids (and even my parents) loved to listen to Max telling these stories in his own unique, humorous way, leaving us in stitches with laughter. This was still good clean humour - what a pity that some of today's so-called "comedians" cannot produce something that even children can listen to...

Comedy is too cynical and knowing these days. There's no room for innocence.

Thank you for this very full and accurate biography. There is an extraordinary entry in Wikipedia by some woman who claims to have been his sister-in-law, married to his "brother" David. Max never had a brother!

By the way, I don't know why my comments appear as Anna Rosen, my name is Josephine Bacon, I am a relative by marriage of the late Max.
