In 1993's Sam and Max Hit the Road and the sadly canceled 2004 sequel, Sam and Max: Freelance Police, Max was voiced by Nick Jameson. In the TV series, he was voiced by Robert Tinkler - my personal fave and the one I take inspiration from for *my* Max voice. In 2006's first Telltale episode, Culture Shock, the first episode of Save the World, to be precise, he's voiced by Andrew Chaikin - who would later voice Tycho from Penny Arcade in Poker Night at the Inventory, with William Kasten. Speaking of, in the rest of Save the World, the rest of the Telltale trilogy in general, and Poker Night at the Inventory, that's who he's voiced by - William Kasten. And in Poker Night 2 and This Time It's Virtual, he is voiced by Dave Boat - it is unknown if he will return for any future Sam and Max projects. David Nowlin - he'll get his - was supposed to be Max's voice for the Telltale games, but Telltale Games decided that having a separate actor play Max was a better idea. But he DID voice Max for a Gametap ad, so that counts, technically. And since I'm here, I might as well do Sam, too In Hit the Road, Bill Farmer did Sam's voice - you may recognize Bill as the guy who now does Goofy for Disney. Sam even calls back to this in Poker Night 2, saying he had to undergo voice training since his voice was too "goofy." Heh. In the TV show, he's voiced by Harvey Atkin, who sadly passed in 2017 - he's the only voice out of the duo to pass, so far. Harvey also did work as King Koopa, in the Mario cartoons, back in the 80s/90s. And in the Telltale Games, Poker Night 2, and This Time It's Virtual, he's voiced by David Nowlin - also TBA if he's coming back. Sam's voice changed 2 times in the (barely) 6 Max has had - Nowlin was supposed to be Max's voice for the Telltale games, but Telltale Games decided that having a separate actor play Max was a better idea. I can hear Max calling me a "Neeeeeeerd!" and I'm proud of it, dammit!

This show was so far ahead of everything, that even now they still haven't caught up! Only the fast-paced witty lines seem to be used in adult cartoon comedy, but even that is only the tip of the iceberg for this show! THis came out in the 90's, that's 30 years and still ahead of the curve! You want to know something even more amazing? Steve Purcell, the owner of sam and max kept the rights after teltale games closed; this means he can (if he wanted) have people make more games, series or merchandise for sam and max in the future! There are even two figures of sam and max being made (although they've been under the pre-order label for 3 years with no word, so best to keep an eye on it; rather and rush into hope) with a lot of expression, articulation and accessories! What i'm trying to say is, this show is still years ahead of us 30 years later; that's an impressive feat!

Yes. Sam and Max wasn't particularly meant for kids, the cartoon was supposed to be for kids. Although given some of the weird slighty sureal writing in the show, being not to far from the original material, I'm not exactly sure how it resonated with younger audiences.

I think we should just leave Sam and Max the way it is. Now in days, kid shows have changed drastically due to people becoming more sensitive and PC. You can’t even get away with stuff like adult jokes anymore, if you do, you will get people complaining about your show and you might possibly get sued or get your show cancelled.

the new thing that happened to him lately is that he got psychic powers from toys of the devil'd toy box and went through all kinds of things like having to deal with an alien space ape, finding video reels of sam and max's ancestors, max's brain getting stolen by the space ape named general scunkape, having to deal with sam clones controlled by a ventriloquist doll (one of the toys of power) also bringing the dead back to life as max defeated the ventriloquist doll with his psychic powers gets turned into a giant monster then sam and others disquise the desoto as a corn-dog to get into monster max's body to stop him from being a monster by electracuting him causing him to die in the process but then comes back from another timeline to have more adventures with sam (The End)
