I was having dinner in Bournemouth one day with my family and I met Max Bygraves since our family's host had invited Max Bygraves to join us for dinner. At the time he was hosting the game-show, Family Fortunes at ITV, however, because of the Industrial strike at ITV, he had time off presenting the show. I noticed Max was really down-to-earth - no airs-and-graces, and kind, too.

He was a massively popular star yet when he died very little was made of it. Can't help but think the likes of the BBC and contemporary entertainment in general are obsessed with youth when their viewing audience are at the opposite end of the scale. RIP Max you brought a great deal of happiness into people's lives.

believe it.......the little girl singing at the end of the show it's me. I think I was 6 or 7 years at the time and I learned the words to the song in phonetic at that time I did'nt speak english at all. What a great emotion to see Max his lovely wife Blossom and his daughters Christine, Maxime and his son Anthony such a beautiful family.

Just a couple of weeks before my 9th birthday. Max always came across as a good laugh and genuine character. Another one of those Stars that was always on tv when l was growing up.

Great to see Max Miller. Surprisingly enough, he was never a subject of This Is Your Life.

The great Max Miller. I have not seen much of Max Bygraves performances, but if Max thought he was very good he must have been. Max B had an easy rapport with the audience and was very professional. He was a good singer too. In private, he was not always the affable man that you thought he was, but I will leave it at that.

Bessie Braddock is allegedly the woman who made the mistake of saying 'Winston, you're drunk' to Churchill, prompting Churchill's legendary reply........ It's also AMAZING to see Max Miller speaking (Max died in 1963). Such a shame that the dopey old BBC didn't think to make and preserve an interview with Max talking about the art of comedy of which he was of course a master.

Yes it was. That would have been great to see. I wonder if Bob Monkhouse made a recording? Max Miller held up the Brighton Belle for 12 minutes as he was late leaving the theatre and the stationmaster waited for him. He said " You are late this evening Max", Such was his fame. Sir Laurence Olivier also lived in Brighton in the sixties and held up the Brighton Belle for 20 minutes as they did not have any kippers for his breakfast en route and he said "What! No kippers!" and someone was sent to the local fish mongers to buy some. Such was his fame as well.

Where's the end? Love the wing commander calling Eamonn 'Andrews' old habits and all that. Max Miller looks in great health although not too sure about being in Cannes with the lattice fence and peony behind him it looks more like a back garden, he died 18 months after this show.

OldiesAl I was thinking the same thing, looks like max is sat in his own back garden. Lol
@davidwhyberd76125 жыл бұрын
@@adrinathegreat3095I thought that as well. He had a heart attack in 1958 and was advised to take it easy. Max did his last performance in 1959. He was probably not up to the journey in 1961 when this was film. He was only 68 when he died, 2 years later.

I believe he said ‘Cairns’ in his Aussie accent. My mum, like many of her generation loved Max Bygraves, I now see why.

His " warmth" and " concern for others" :) Ask any Postman who turned up at his house and was directed to The " Tradesman" entrance round the side as they were " neither friend or family". Once the lights are off a different MB emerged. He was fine if you massaged and fuelled his ego but could be, famously, sensitive and prickly.......

@@Isleofskye I am not convinced by this anecdote. I am asked to believe that Max was naughty with other women and fathered two boys to different ladies. But, I am convinced he never lost his Rotherthide roots.

Max Bygraves was a nasty man. Horrid to his wife, and awful to the many women he had affairs with but especially horrible to the children he had from the affairs. Don't believe the smiley, goofy Max he was hard and cruel. He deserves to be forgotten.
