The wiki says a bunch about the tree, but if you lack water then plant it with water near by and water should grow every 2 cycles. Also the space around it is crucial for amount of resources from what I understand. I think a 3x2 is good enough for a 3 branch but could go with 4x3 just in case. It only needs one resource in the vicinity so for example if you have one water node than if its a 3 tree then 3 waters will grow ever 2 cycles. Iron is 1 cycle and cobalt is 3

You’ve really got to upgrade your drones’ speed. The combination with their quantity upgrades is practically multiplicative.

Yeah, the upgrade for 30% more drones was 12 iron and 5 water. But a 50% increase in speed was only 4 gold and 2 water.

Drone speed is definitely worth it, especially with meticulous iron worms. 16 drones and max speed is usually where I stop upgrading them.

Considering how much iron was everywhere at the end, I think the lift absolutely would have been worth it if drones are smart enough to drop off what they're carrying in the lift.

I think the packaging upgrade would have been way better than the blast mining one. It would combo very well with the drones. Instead of carrying 1 resource per trip, they carry 4, 7 or 11. You multiply their carry capacity, basically. And they certainly weren't keeping up with how fast you were finding/mining resources. All you have to do is do a quick detour by the worms to package the bunches of dropped iron. And you can package the water/cobalt you find as well.

Not to back seat game but you should drag the materials toward the center shaft so the drones can get to it faster.

@@MattyGamer9513 Nah, I remember it being put nicely once: Streamers are playing a game fundamentally differently from a casual player. Not only are they trying to play the game but their focus is split with trying to also entertain and keep commentary going.

Tree (which you can find and plant) when dropped on normal tile, just gives iron, so you dont need to drop it on iron resources if you want iton tree.

You can also drop it on water/cobalt and it'll grow those instead

Yep. Good to find early on. And the space matters for the number of branches. And iron grows every cycle, water every 2, cobalt every 3. I would say one of the best ones is water if your quite good at the combat part and if you need more healing then do cobalt. And I only requires one resource node to grow 3. Just need enough space

I find that with about 11 drones with level 5 speed you can’t keep up with collection. They really zoom ! Pair this with the fast worms and it’s kind of insane how quick your iron goes up. Absolute ton of fun!

I like dropping the tree next to 3 resources together near the mine shaft. It helps if it has 3 resources nearby, best returns. It doesn't HAVE to be Iron.

I am so mad about this. I've failed this scenario 5 times because i have been trying to use the laser instead of any AOE weapon. Well, lesson learned

After your second or third fail, why did you expect things go any differently? Don't press "read more" on this comment unless you are ok seeing some spoilers. If I compare fully upgraded domes, I don't think anything can hold candle to the artillery dome. For a few small enemies and one or two bosses the direct hit version is the goat, but for chaotic all out assault this AOE build is the best. The electric dome comes close second and is good for any situation, but I don't really like much how it plays. The melee is just bad due to how difficult it is to play with keyboard and mouse because only the turning spear can be targeted with mouse. With a controller it might be better. Laser is good for ground attacks only because it _kind of_ have AOE against small ground targets and good single target damage against bosses, but is bad against fast moving fliers. Although easy mouse targeting makes it much better with that than with controller. Fully upgraded missile is just insane and I highly recommend that one the _broken main weapon_ challenge, although the small jumping enemies almost hard counters it due to automatic targeting and lack of AOE damage.

@@anteshell I've only been using the laser dome for challenges so far (to my now obvious detriment) and i will look at all the others. I kinda hate the electric one though, it's annoying how much the speed upgrade is required to travers the whole map. The laser is obviously the worst choice for this challenge, because air defense is always me last upgrade, it probably would have won a couple of those runs. The _Broken Main Weapon_ challenge is broken right now with just the stun laser. I did it yesterday and finished during the first round. Just upgrade it enough during the first wave to have a face-slam guy bash his face in slowly enough that you can tank it. Extend the stun, mine for everything else and boom it's done. It will probably get nerfed shortly.

@@Johnny-uy4iu Yeah, I forgot to mention the electric needs the speed upgrades before it becomes usable. Before that, it's just a slow suicide in combined attack. And I didn't know the stun laser is that good. I pick it so rarely. Thanks for the tip!

Also, to overcharge your drones, you needs to activate eh drone gadget inside your dome, same as with the overcharging shield gadget.

You are totally underestimating drone speed. The drones spend 99% of their time moving. Either to pick something up or carrying something back. Upgrading drone speed from 30 to 60, is the same as _doubling_ the number of drones you have. They carry twice as much in the same time. 60 to 90 is another +50%. 90 to 130 is +45%.

Huh? -But why would 30 to 60 double it, it's not like Drones start at 0 speed, it's just the bonus speed they get. Like if you have a base 1000 and get 30, then another 30, then the second 30 didn't double the speed. What I will believe it's that it's useful, but the math sounds off- Checked it, they start at 40 and get increased to 60, then to 90, so the first one is already a +50%. I understood that wrong and just thought it's a bonus to the speed and i don't know the base value. So pretty much every level up increases their total speed by 50% (I assume)

@@DexTagI was worried I got it wrong myself, but it definitely lists the total speed. I still had the baseline wrong, that makes this upgrade a lot less impactful.

I specifically did 2 other guild assignments to unlock the drone yard so I can do the 200 iron easily as then I don't have to carry things back and with iron worms it should be a breeze

What hurts _my_ soul is seeing you ignore drone speed again and again when it has a multiplicative effect with the number of drones and your map is choked with tons of resources that can't be harvested. And you wasted so much time digging up resources that would never be picked up... With the ridiculous amount of iron you got, you could have gotten a ton of carrying capacity to help out. It'd have paid back for itself in no time. Iron that just lays on the ground in the mine does you no good. Things to keep in mind for next time, I guess! (not that it stopped you from winning, of course)

The carry capacity and speed would have been a good purchase, but MUCH earlier on. At the end there, you spent 36 iron to be able to carry 13 iron and 2 cobalt on that trip up. Even if you had been able to do 3 more trips like you thought, that would have barely been a profit even: 13x4 = 52, 52 - 36 = 16 profit... instead of the 3x4 = 12 profit you would have carried without upgrades. And I doubt you would have gotten 3 extra trips. Probably just 2. The single 1 way trip you were able to do took 30-40% of the enemy timer. Sure you had delayed a bit by digging, but that wouldn't make up for 3 downward trips. Taking the upgrades earlier would mean each of your trips could have included a bunch more resources. And 4 iron early on to carry 2 more every time would really add up and pay for itself.
