Next Carolina traded for him as a rental, followed by Chicago who obviously wanted to trade him off at the deadline (in rebuild) … to Dallas which got him as a rental to finally the Leafs who signed him for 1 year …. As a rental ? Tryout ? Prove it deal ? Hometown discount ? Toronto might be the first team actually signing him since Phoenix to be more than a rental or plugging holes.

Hyman's value wasn't as high as Domi's value because of Domi being a center and he can center the #1 line but 5m+ is cheaper now than it was back than so I have a hard time believing you.

I think big changes are going to happen. Tavares's contract is almost up and Treliving might look to break up the core 4 by trading one of them this off season. I don't want Samsonov as our #1 goalie but it's also not impossible to win with average goaltending as we can see the Edmonton Oilers are consistently making it to the conference finals with one of the worse defence and goalies in the league but yeah I still want a real goalie for less stress. It's too bad Joseph Woll is injury prone because if he wasn't injury prone he would have probably been our #1 goalie by now. We also lost our top goalie prospect to retirement because he was injury prone and couldn't play anymore because of it and that was the goalie we drafted 1 spot before Swayman. Man our luck really sucks..

Domi was the best playoff player on the Leafs by far. The Leafs need more players like Domi. He hard to play against, with a ton of grit you need to succeed when the games count. I could see the Leafs signing Domi and Bert while taking a touch of a hit on a Marner trade. Domi and Bert combined bring what Marner brings while freeing up cap space which is why I could see this happening. Think of it this way: would you rather have Marner (making 13 million) or would you rather have Domi, Bert, and a BIG Zadorov for 15 million??? I think business wise it makes sense to trade Marner but it is a really hard thing to ask Marner to waive NMC really ruins the relationship with the team and Mitchy is obviously an impact player that any team would want.

Domi is 29 and does not score enough. Plays big but is not a big player. 3mil is a fair amount. The extra cap space is already gone to Mathews and Nylander. Defence, goaltending should be top priority. Not to mention we need more size up front and on defence. They are going to have to go young and cheap. Minten and Cowan. No real change can happen until next year when Marner and Tavares contracts are up. Unless of course they trade them for what we really need.

No more than 3 years for Domi for 3.3- 3.5 per year. 10% raise. Most people would be happy with that. No more nmc to any player. Domi as people commented has been with 7 teams. Hum. Weak defender. Scored only 9 goals and went 20 odd games without a goal. Took stupid penalties in playoffs. Don't overvalue players who are average. Same old same old with Leaf management😢

Berrtuzi sucks during the regular season. And Domi, another light weight, is not what is needed here. Didn't Hyman and Kadri once play for the Leafs? Add Connor Brown to the mix. Marner should of never been paid so much. The figure skater is another light weight that can't engage at playoff time! Time for a big shake up! Light weights can't compete at playoff time!

Ryan Hartman got 3 years at $4M. I'd say Hartman and Domi are equal in the value that they bring to the team. If he wanted $6M, I'd say the Leafs are better off at letting him walk and going after Zadorov.

I'd happily pay 5.5-6 for domi, he was arguably one of the best players on the ice this series. Make him center for mathews and whoever and watch it work. Makes no sense to have your best scorer stuck in a face off instead of on a wing for a good 1-2 in the back of the net

He’s brutal and not worth any amount! American hockey league player at best! The leafs think just because they pay more for a player, they’re going to be good and often and the best example is Bertuzzi completely being overpaid for more than 2/3 of the season!

Agreed. He was way overpaid this season. Domi isn't worth a penny more than 4 mil, and I wouldn't go past 3 years.

Let's not forget about the Habs and them giving Domi 5.5mil for a one year wonder and then he's bounced from team to team. If Tre gives Domi that kind of money both should be shown the door. Bert just say goodbye. Free agency has a good crop of player's.

It’s only natural that he make bank. He’s watched the big 4’s contracts. He’s worth 3.5 on a long term. 4-5 on a short term contract. Why should he take the hit? He can get money on the market.
