Max for Live: Kapture by Plastikman & Liine

Richie Hawtin's legendary performances as Plastikman are a world-wide phenomenon. To pull off his ambitious 2010 tour, Richie enlisted longtime technical collaborator Gareth Williams to build a Max for Live device that could manage the complex configuration of parameters necessary to make the show happen. ASTONISHING!!! Richie is Always surpassing the cutting edge of electronic music and it's manipulation. I've been following his shows since I first saw him in the Midwest back in the mid 90's just bangin' it out on the ole 1's and 2's with just an e.q. and his bag a tricks. This man alone is, has, and always will be, in my eyes, the face of techno. Thank you, Richie, for always bringing the new school but still continually mixing in traces of where we came from.

I caught Richie leaving the now defunct nightclub LOVE in Manhattan one time. I was across a street and no matter who he was with I called over to him and he met me in the middle of the street for a brief conversation. The same thing at Movement 09. He was right down the hall from me at the Marriot Courtyard fans would call out to him as he was cutting through the lobby, he would about face and make a B line right for them. He might be pretentious about technology, but very good to his fans.

Hi, i have Ableton 10.1.13 and Kapture 2.0.4. Kapture is working just if clicking the snapshot from the max 4 live device but not if I launch a clip with same name ... can't figure out why it does this, help me pls.

some one can show me how i have to setup the kapture for recall parameters by clips?? i simply put a clip in an empty midi track with the same name of the snap.. but what in/out i need to set? from midi to i cant see kapture.. help?

Holy crap. That Ableton session from 1:15 is badass. "Master out: 95/96". Now that's a lot of outputs. ;-) Any details on the routing and setup itself? For a next song preparation during performance (from the same Ableton session) I simply use MIDI automation for recall of effects/sends/devices on-off/other stuf (clips on the first scene of the new track). That Max device will make things a lot easier and quicker. Can you customize it (for example to recall external fx unit settings via MIDI)?

the simple sometimes is more dificult.. the artists use many tracks as default is like a template....he use the first half for clips..and the other half for effects..midi control..by aux.. and very others things..

Live 10. Not working. Dummie clips dont recall snapshots. Can not use push 2 to use kapture. Could you please fix it!

Dude, you're totally wrong. First of all, it is indicated in the video 2:31 that the snapshots could be linked to MIDI clips and you can trigger those from whatever MIDI controller you want. Additionally, from within an M4L device, you can enumerate and utilize any MIDI device connected to your system. It doesn't even have to be available to Ableton. You can send and receive SysEx, CC, Note, etc. It's a free addon called imp.MIDI at www.theimpersonalstereo.com/max-externals/. Windows don't have a native multi-client MIDI driver so you need to manually manage which program uses which MIDI device on Windows but you can do whatever you want on OSX.

if anyone with some ties with max for live developers is reading this, what would be the best way to create new programs such as Kapture? Let it be known I am someone who doesn't need Kapture, Kapture is a good program but it's a program for noobs and lazy people who want to experience advance techniques without intermediate knowledge. saying that, I just want to know is there a better way to create such programs without playing techno famously for 2-20 years plus? is there a lead i should know about? I kinda went hiatus for awhile due to kids, but i'm ready to face the world, hit me up
