Comparing Corrales, a great fighter who didn’t know how to use his size and reach at all, to Thomas Hearns who was the epitome of a fighter who could use size to create leverage to beat the brakes off anyone, is like comparing a great sedan to a Ferrari. The sedan is solid and good but it’s got nothing on the Ferrari in terms of handling or horsepower. Hearns was a far superior boxer and a much much much better puncher. Look at what Hearns’ did to Pipino Cuevas, a welterweight champ in his prime with a chin of granite, one right hand and Cuevas became a noodle. Hearns became the first fighter to knock Roberto Duran out cold. He outboxed Sugar Ray Leonard for 13 rounds before he was dramatically stopped in the 14th. Corrales had fights with a couple solid fighters but no one of that caliber and he never had any performance close to Hearns who’s an all time great welterweight and junior middleweight.

clearly, you have never watched him "box". the man covers up, bounces around the ropes for a few rounds, lands a few punches cleanly but weakly, bounces on the ropes some more and wins by pure numbers for some reason. there has been no deviation from this method in his entire career.

@@rorybisson756 if anything that is the definition of boxing. Floyd learned the best way to box is to hit and to not get hit. He wasn’t always like that though as back in his early days he was very aggressive until he got caught by a significant strike in a fight (forgot the name of his opponent). He decided in order to last he had to switch his style and that style is still boxing. All you gotta do is look at the canelo fight. Canelo couldn’t touch him while Floyd was hitting him at will. Also, how you describe his style is wrong he is so good because of his ability to adapt to his opponents switching his game plan multiple times in fights if needed (his opponents praise his ability to adapt themselves if you dont believe it from me)

How do you assume Mayweather doesn't have enough pop to hurt Hearns or keeps Hearns's respect? Canelo stood toe-to-toe with Golovkin but he wasn't careless with Mayweather. Shane Mosley said Mayweather and Canelo have equal power. I've heard several boxers state that Mayweather Jr. hits a lot harder than you might think. Hearns couldn't put Benitez to sleep but some how you think Hearns would put Mayweather to sleep in a 15round fight? Another thing... don't compare Leonard to Mayweather; they are nothing alike in style and I used to see Leonard get hit a lot which means Leonard's defense was mostly his legs. (In 2008 - Floyd pretended to be retired to avoid top competition - Pacquiao started the year as a 130 fighter and fought Marquez the 2nd time on March 2008. July 2008 - Pac won his 1st fight at 135 against Davide Diaz - ) ----- August 2008 Welterweight Rankings ----- 1. Antonio Margarito 2. Miguel Cotto 3. Paul Williams 4. Shane Mosley 5. Joshua Clottey 6. Carlos Quintana 7. Kermit Citron 8. Andre Berto 9. Luis Collazo 10. Jackson Bonsu . Pacman a natural LIGHWEIGHT has fought more fighters in the 2008 welterweight rankings by the end of 2011 than Floyd Mayweather a natural welterweight. Boxing analysts were expecting Floyd to commit to a fight against Miguel Cotto in late 2007 or early 2008. By 2008 Margarito was expected to fight Floyd but Floyd pretended to retire in 2008 to avoid top contenders. Floyd should be the one doing the house cleaning in the 2008 welterweight Rankings bcoz 147 is Floyd's division but Instead Pacman who was a 130-pound fighter at the start of 2008 was cleaning out the 147 division in 2009. Floyd would rather fight a lightweight Marquez for cherrypicking and easy money in 2009, while Pacquiao a natural lightweight was fighting welterweights doing the house cleaning at 147. Clearly FLoyd has been CHERRYPICKING before 2009 when we started pitting FLoyd and Pac together...

Im not just talking about floyd, but i now understand what people do in boxing. Challenge them either when they are 20yo and let that guy know for the rest of his carrer that you won against him without giving him a shot at a rematch, or, after a decade plus of the people asking, finally fight someone that was the best or one of the best in the game that are a shell of themselves. No wonder why alot of people dont watch PROFESSIONAL BOXING ( No youtubers) anymore. It seems like everyone has a 95% plus win ratio

@@YourFavoriteCoolCousin Mosley and De La Hoya and Gatti. Pacquiao was younger than Floyd yes but Styles make fights and make fighters. Floyd’s style was tailor made to age well props to him Pacquiao’s was reliant on explosiveness, speed and athleticism. Pacquiao was bound to be a shell of himself once he got past 35. Floyd knew that and waited til Pacquiao had been viciously knocked out by Marquez and beaten by Tim Bradley. Floyd never fought all time great competition at their best. His other title fights were against a Canelo who was way too young and green to be fighting Floyd, Cotto who was a good fighter but never all time great, Hatton would reigned over the weakest junior welterweight division of all time and who’s biggest victory came over a shot fighter in Tszyu, Baldomir who was a solid fighter but never world class by any means, Maidana who you could argue won their first fight (I scored it a draw), he should have lost to Castillo, statistically he lost that fight, Ortiz again a good but never great fighter. Floyd was a great fighter and a boxing genius who fought mediocre competition and topped it off with dominat wins over past their prime,or in Canelo’s case before their prime, fighters oh and he also beat Zab Judah who was a talented fighter with a insanely weak mental game who never lived up to his potential

@@YourFavoriteCoolCousin He beat an in prime Marquez, Barrera who was coming off dominant wins of Morales, Tapia, and Prince Naseem Hamed. He beat Morales after avenging a loss to him. He dominated Cotto, De La Hoya, Mosley, Margarito, Decimated Hatton worse than Floyd did. all the same fighters but he stopped them or put on a better performance than Mayweather did. Pacquiao also won titles in 8 weight classes. Floyd won titles in 4. Pacquiao is a better fighter all time than Floyd was. That being said Pacquiao isn’t in my top ten all time P4P. Pacquiao isn’t the greatest but Floyd definitely isn’t either. Read up on Sugar Ray Robinson, Harry Greb, Willie Pep, Henry Armstrong,Roberto Duran, Joe Louis, Muhammad Ali, Joe Gans, Benny Leonard. They set the standard and Floyd never touched that standard he barely missed it. Great fighter I have him 12-14 on my p4p list. I agree to everything you just said besides one.. Prime doesn't necessarily correspond with age. Floyd laid this out by saying his favorite quote from his father : "the less you get hit the longer you can last in the sport". Floyd style let him preserved his body much better than other athletes in our era.. Pac on the other hand get's hit a lot, has bleed a tons of blood, etc.. So when the two fought, even though floyd is older, It is clear that floyd still has much more left in him than what's left in pac. That is a commendable job for floyd.

Max is correct, Floyd would've avoided Hearns. That's a very difficult and dangerous fight for Floyd. People are to quick to say " Floyd already beat that type of opponent in fighting Corralles ". Hearns was more skillful in terms of setting up his offensive shots, better at cutting off the ring, faster (hand speed), more power (1 punch KO power).

Floyd avoided rangy fighters like Paul Williams and Antonio Margarrito. No way does he ever get in the ring with an animal like Tommy Hearns, who as Max correctly stated, outboxed Wilfred Benitez and Ray Leonard. When Hearns first fought Leonard at 147lbs., we all remember the moment Tommy got stunned and had to shift gears. Tommy became the boxer - up on his toes, working that broomstick jab, and giving beautiful angles - and Ray became the stalker. In the process, Ray's eye swelled up so bad it resembled a golf ball. "You're blowing it now, son! You're blowing it!" cried Angelo Dundee. Going into the championship rounds, it was looking dire for Ray, and then it happened in round 13: Ray lands a monstrous right that rocks Tommy and follows with a flurry of punches that sends him through the ropes. With dead legs, Tommy was stopped in 14th round. What a fight! Floyd never had what Tommy and Ray had, nor did he ever take the risks that both fighters took throughout the course of their careers.
