I bought the Peninsula on a whim as an upgrade for my freshwater tank because the size was absolutely perfect. The sump setup is far more complicated than I need for a boring little fresh tank, but I'm now excited at the possibility of transitioning to a salt tank someday! And oh my god, it is the nicest tank I've ever owned

Hi Rick, Overall I am very happy with the Peninsula. I think overall it is a very good system. The small ATO reservoir is frustrating just because of the size. I am using a 5gal. container and a Tunze ATO. So much better. Just do to the size of the tank “water parameters” always a concern. The tank has started to grow coraline algae so that is a positive. The tank has probably has 80% LPS, 8% SPS and 10% Soft in it and 5 fish. I have had wins and losses that is for sure. I posted some pics in Reef2Reef also under Brian Berry.

This is very ideal for me. Downsizing my tank as I'm gng to a new place. However how do we introduce a chiller? For eg. A teko tk150 which should be ideal for such tanks. Doesnt look like there's a good pick and return point for the water.
@Redseafish2 жыл бұрын
You will have to retrofit it in. Removing the ATO is one option.

Will the gap fit a typical 1/2 inch or 3/4 connection bracket? Would redsea have an option to purchase this ?

I always thought smaller tanks were worse for first timers because the swings in salinity and nutrients is so much more than in a bigger tank. In a Bigger tank the more diluted everything is.

Hello, do they solved the noise problem with the protein skimmer and the pump. like the problem with the splashing noise during overflow? (Max Nano) I had to invest 250€ for a new pump and a new protein skimmer because the noise. I did my own tinkering with the overflow until the water runs out at the fltersock and does not overflow with the skimmer. Your engineers should rework.

Love the design of these tanks! Planning to pick one up in the future, but I live in an area that gets very warm (90-95 degrees in worst cases). Any suggestions for chillers or ways to cool this specific peninsula tank? I saw another comment asking about chillers and saw you said that retrofitting the tank/removing the ato is necessary. Is there any work around to this? Thanks!

You can remove the ATO and connect a chiller or add fans and keep the ATO.

@Naltharian4202 жыл бұрын
Red Sea covers are DIY, took me like 5 mins to build mine for my Max nano. It is expensive AF for DIY product tho, that is for sure.
@Redseafish2 жыл бұрын
Probably not, we have so many models and the DIY Netscreen requires some work but is a cost effective solution. For the smaller tanks a little rectangle is pretty easy to make.

@ronniekregar34822 жыл бұрын
Nooo....24" is literally the perfect size!!! Once you get above 30" it's not a nano tank anymore. Then you also start running into lighting and flow problems too. You can't even use a single arm light mount on a 30" peninsula tank.

@@jkelley1263 yeah man, its what makes the world go round lol....I hear you, but it's not about limiting your dreams, I'm just sayin everything changes when tanks are more than 24" deep, aesthetics and function change dramatically, from lighting to the placement of powerheads and you also lose the form and function of a plug n play system...but that's just my 2 cents lol.

Hey, I’ll be setting up either a 48x24x24 inch 120 gallon tank or a 60x24x24 inch 150 gallon tank. It will be a mixed reef tank, and I was wondering if I can light these tanks with the Red Sea reef 90 lights? And if so how many will I need? I also plan on changing it to a sps dominated tank, so how many lights would I need then for 4 foot and the 5 foot tank?
@Redseafish2 жыл бұрын
For a 48"X24"X24" you will need 2 RL90s and for the 60" 3 RL90s. You can see the recommended specs for the REEFER XL425 and XL525 which have similar dimensions. Or the "Recommended usage by tank size" table here: www.redseafish.com/hardware/lighting/

When we asked for fish to volunteer for the video they all jumped in. They all wanted to shimmer in the spotlight. They are all back to their homes in the big tanks around the office now. Long term we do recommend keeping less fish. Thanks for noticing.
