One thing that still bothers me is that Vegas traded him away for literally nothing and then won the cup that very season without him, making him a member of the "Close, but no cigar" club. As a Canes fan, I was super stoked when we got him and then was heartbroken to see his fate unfold the way it did. As much as I don't care for the Capitals, I wish him nothing but the best (except against us, of course). I was hoping maybe we could get him back at the deadline if the Capitals are outside of a playoff spot and we have a playoff lock. Regardless, I hope he can retire with a cup to his name.

@@nickfenton2334 Disclaimer- my heart would still like to see him get a cup as he used to be my fav player. Pierre Gervais released a book last year about his 35 years with the Habs as an equipment manager and said that Patch was a piece of work. Would sulk in a team winning streak if he didn't score, was egocentric, never smiled, had few allies in the dressing room, mostly kept to himself, and the staff were happy to see him go. Another big one was the fact that he colluded/politicked with Gallagher to have Subban traded (my other favourite player). Georges Laraque spoke about this in a YT clip and PK even spoke about it in an interview. There have also been other anecdotes about him being a jerk to others. Notably when he was traded he returned his car to the dealership in a terrible condition inside and didn't say a word.

@@chrisxavier3147 Wow. That's really unfortunate. I've always been a big fan of his no matter where he's been playing, but I guess I need to read the book. What a sad day to have eyes.

@@nickfenton2334 Yeah it was heartbreaking when I found out. I thought that the fans were giving him an abnormally hard time after he left, but a fair bit of them were in the know. Also, he was the one that requested the trade, not management. Pierre mentions too that the Habs staff shared a laugh with the Golden Knights staff when they met in the playoffs about his true nature, and the Knights confirmed that he hadn't changed. I still have a Patch jersey but it would be weird to put on now. Still have my custom Subban one though too!
