Max Payne Blood Maze 2

Easily the worst part of any game i have ever had the displeasure of having to complete. Awesome game but this bit is just horrible. PS4 clip of the original PS2 game. Listen to it loud for the full bloodcurdling effect. Hopefully this saves people having to endure the hell that is completing the second maze far too many times..

It’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever done in any video game, ever. This part made me so angry, I almost put the game down for good. Who decided to make the controls extra slow and unresponsive, making it nearly impossible to beat… I will never understand how this didn’t get removed from the game, it’s so bad I can’t believe it.

This level isn't scary at all. It's just fucking annoying. I can handle the controls alright but it's more the fact I don't know where the fuck I'm going that annoys me. I did finish the game many times but I can't remember the mazes very well. They aren't as straight forward as the regular game play and I hate playing all aimlessly.

Right there with everyone on the screams. Been playing games that are meant to be terrifying for right around 20 years now. Silent hill, the RE series, etc. which all have their moments. Yet this is the only one thing from a game that has, and continues to make the hair on my neck and face stand up. Makes for one hell of a representation of a banshee.

I got stuck on this for ages, then accidentally found there was a way to jump from the start of the blood maze down to the right and land near the end, otherwise I never would have finished that game, which would have been a shame as I loved the game otherwise. I still hope we'll someday get a remake with this part completely removed.

I have been doing this part about 1,000,000 times and still can't seem to stay on it. That second jump isn't that easy cause you can't run jump only jump and you don't make it to the other platform. I heard to have it set to 60fps instead of 165fps but that helped only so I can stay on the platform a little longer. I wonder if the PC version is different than the PS2 version. Like maybe there is no faster run to jump on the PC version. Just a basic jump that is slow. I was thinking maybe that wasn't the area you are suppose to jump to.

Did PC have a different version? I played this on PS2 when it first came out and everything was just like this video. My friends at school played on PC and said it wasn’t THAT scary. There’s another video of this level on youtube and there’s music playing during this part and also the scream is way less scary and just sounds like a generic scream.

Part with music is the first nightmare sequence. This one is the second and Payne is under Valchiria effects. On Pc version they deleted the baby's scream , that's on PS2 it is so much crepier and scary. I was just 8 when I played this part...I got literally terrorized. I never putted that fucking disc on Ps2 again from that moment Then I finally played whole game at 20th, 3 years ago and shit this part still scares me a lot. They did something more disturbing than any other horror game.

Currently replaying the game and I'm at this part. That mixture of imprecise controls, crappy collision detection and a too narrow path with wonky geometry that you keep sliding off of is indeed the worst game design that I've seen in my almost 40 years of gaming. I fucking hate it ... whoever designed and tested this part and thought "Yup, that's great" still deserves a slap to the face to this day. It completely ruins the narrative and the mood of that sequence.

2022 fix: At least for me I could not jump so I side rolled onto platforms, however the last platform with childs crib is impossible to reach doing a singular side roll. After trial and error I found that I could get onto last platform if I side rolled thrice from middle ish of the last red line not the square.

This happened like 13 years ago when we were pre-teens I remember when I was at my best friend's home when he was playing on this part and I got very distraught at the baby crying and the dark, blood trail I stared crying too, begging him to "please turn the game off" while he was laughing nervously saying "Dude calm down it's just a game, it's ok" and when I started to cry too he got a little frustrated and reluctantly turn the Ps2 to put another game I'm sorry Ale XD We had literally the same age but I've been a really scaredy cat since early childhood lol
