We're kicking off a brand new series with a look at four terrible video game movies that are bad and did badly. Starting with 2008's Max Payne starring Mark Wahlberg. Aiming to capture the tragedy, action and frenetic energy of the original two games it absolutely does not. But at the same time as discussed it certainly takes the franchise to a new level. I already made the joke in the other thread, but true story, I did actually accidentally get drugged in a club once thinking the bathroom attendant was giving me candy in exchange for a tip. Not a bathroom attendant, and not candy, but it was Blue. And I did trip and start thinking he was going to Harvest my organs. So... just like Star Wars apparently.

I absolutely loved the Max Payne games, and was completely dumbfounded as to how they screwed it up so badly. All they had to do was stick to the source material... but nope.

Mason uncharacteristically using a swear but in the case of Marky “loathsome arsehole” Mark it’s the perfect descriptor.

I saw this in the theater when it came out and saw part of it on tv a couple years ago when nothing else was on. Definitely not a good movie. Just dull and boring. I only played parts of the games so didn’t have much to base my enjoyment on but sounds like it didn’t matter.
