1998-2005: the years games were growing up cinematically and story-wise yet were fun to play and gave you enough of freedom.

The level design is a lot more open in this version than it is in the final game. They probably wanted the levels to be bigger but limitations caused them to scale back the level design. It would've been cool to play on the more wide open levels, but Max Payne 1 and the series itself still has a place in my heart!

They managed to put Matrix influence in a very short time.(I think the movie was out only 1 month before E3 1999)

They didn't. They had all of these features before the Matrix came out. Mostly based on noir and John Woo movies. As I remember correctly, they wanted to release the game sooner then it eventually was. But the Matrix with the similarity and also some internal problems caused it to be delayed. But to be onest, I think it's a good thing. The final version is a pure gold. In the meaning of the game in general and also the graphics. This trailer version would suck I think.

This version of the game trailer does look good but they kept delaying it to make the game even better and make some improvements to the game. I am happy to say Max Payne 1 is an absolutely amazing game!

look at Dying Light 2 Stay Human a downgrade in the graphics nothing like e3 of Dying Light 2 Stay Human 2019 e3 the retail of Dying Light 2 Stay Human is a big disappointment in 2022 look at Max Payne e3 that is what we received in 2001 Dying Light 2 Stay Human techland should be held responsible.
