So, I used to live literally a 5-minute drive away from Phoenix Sky Harbor and I have to admit there's something very comforting and relaxing about just sitting in a parking lot next to the runway and watching planes take off, aside from just the mechanical and physics involved in such a large machine being able to fly but you also think about the people inside all the people inside the plane and where they're going and the adventures are going to have, the places they're going, the people they're going to meet, watching planes take off and land is very relaxing.

Great video and glad you fixed your car issue. My 99 Fird Explorer spare tire is the same set up. Need to lower/raise spare tire by cable tucked under rear cargo pan behind bumper😮

Speaking of plane spotting, what are some of the coolest planes you have spotted?

My 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan has the same type of spare tire (a mini of course) carried underneath, though the crank mechanism is between the front seats. Knowing trying to use this on the road would be a major hassle, I bought a fullsize spare wheel and standard tire, keeping it in the back of the van. Imagine trying to use that spare tire crankdown on a muddy roadside, in the rain! 😮

Glad to see you are back and tgat thevtrip was as enjoyable as you had anticipated it to be. Btw - that reason the rep from Tamiya gave is, as you said, a perfectly proper goal for any model company.

A wonderful shop. It has been ten years since I used to go there every year during the Lovecraft Film Festival across the street. Gotta get back there.

So about the tire, I guess part of this is the fact I used to work at a tire shop. I guess I'm very acutely aware of Tire Care and maybe part of it is my OCD but every morning before I get in my car and start my day I walk around the car and inspect all the tires, so being a truck driver for many years we do what's called a pre-trip and post-trip inspection and you're taught to inspect your vehicle before you go somewhere and you do a post trip inspection including checking tires and I'm proud to say that in all the years that I drove trucks I never once ever had a blowout Tire!!! also my many years of working at a tire shop I can spot a low tire from three car lengths away and in my attempt to be a good person I will endeavor to alert a driver if I see that one of their tires is low or going flat-it doesn't always work as in the modern world the idea of someone coming along side of you and trying to interact with you in a car to most people now is a foreign or almost scary event, however I'm just trying to be a good samaritan but I can spot a tire that's even 10 lb low and I can tell you that whenever that little tire light comes on your dash you need to immediately pull over!!!!!! stop and find out which tire is losing air never keep driving on a low tire because you're destroying the inside of the tire and often times what could simply be a $10 patch, if the person continues to drive on a flat or low tire results in a hundred-dollar new tire purchase....

Wow, I was a little bummed about no livestream last night. But Max, I'd say this is a real good reason. What an honor

Mike is such a fantastic person. Who wouldn’t give their left hand for one of those prints or better yet paintings.

Gotta read the Dash-1 for your vehicle! My “brotha from anotha motha” and I were driving down the road to the next town (only an hour’s drive in NM, not far at all) to meet some flying buds at Hooters. We get a flat tire. Changed and back on the road in less than 5 minutes. While dating my soon to be wife between flight training assignments, we’d sometimes go to a spot next to one of MEM’s runway approach/departure end overruns. Pretty cool experiencing the wingtip vortices…(cue “Oh What A Night”). 😊

Very cool meet up. Something I had always hoped that Tamiya would do would have been for them to use their 1/350 Yamato as a base and do the Space Battleship version but if its outside of their corporate culture plans that is unfortunate but understandable. Would still love to see them do new tooling of jets from the late 50s/early 60s.

In the 70’s we had a car with a wind down spare tyre, was really annoying when we had to change a tyre going on holiday as we had to basically empty the boot to get to the bolt, that’s trunk for you Americans :) glad it all worked out Max, well done in getting a word in with chatting to everyone :) model on

😂. Boot, bonnet…wrong side, um, left side of the road… Remember my first day driving around RAF Upper Heyford to inprocess. Taking a turn and go to downshift only to rap my right hand knuckles on the door…😂

That Star Destroyer must be a public file as there is one up here in a hobby shop in Mississauga.

If it ever happens that you miss a connection in FLL , give me a call . I would love to have met Hiro and everyone else. Hope you got at least one picture of the Star Destroyer. Glad you had a great time other than the flat tire. Model On

The total tread separation of that tire looks like a product defect to me unless Fireball Kohnke was seriously exceeding the speed rating of the tire or it was underinflated, etc. You could show it to the KIA dealer and contact the tire manufacturer. Check online to see if there is an endemic issue with that particular make and model tire.
