Every parent so far that I've seen since the verdict has been extremely disappointed! My heart breaks over and over for these parents. Cruz did in fact premeditate this heinous crime. Just like Jodi Arias who claimed if she was guilty she'd want the death penalty and she quickly changed her mind.....Cruz changed his mind about pleading guilty. Imagine yourself in the shoes of these parents and the person who murdered their child is granted life when he showed zero mercy for his victims. Wouldn't you be extremely upset? Every juror, prior to the penalty phase, should have been asked if they were against the death penalty. I realize some people are completely against the death penalty and I can respect that. However, in a case like this, they should NEVER have been in that jury!

So much pain and frustration and hurt and anger felt by the families. And so many of the victims, shot by the killer, they were the heroes. God bless them. Nevertheless, we are a nation of laws. The accused has rights. Even though Florida has the death penalty, judges have to instruct the jury according to the law. A thousand years ago, the blood relatives would organize a lynch party and go after the murderer. But in our country we have a constitution, and due process of law. Ironically, the Bible is ambivalent. “Whoever sheds man’s blood, by man his blood shall be shed; For in the image of God He made man." (Genesis 9:6) Yet the Psalmist asks God, "Do not kill them, lest people forget. Scatter them by Your power, and bring them down, O Lord, our shield." (Psalm 59:11)
