Food from the region where Max grew up is actually pretty good in my opinion. More versatile at the very least. The Dutch kitchen can be split in 3 parts. North, West and South. Food from the North is mainly highly nutritious, in the West you notice the influence of the times when Dutch were spice traders and in the South the kitchen is a bit more luxurious (for lack of a better term), maybe it's best described as German food with a touch of French. The south is also mainly catholic, while the rest of the country is mainly protestant and the difference can be noticed in many other cultural things as well. I still like all parts of my country though (except the parts where "the elite" lives).
