Truth about Singapore: increasing dissatisfaction among people living and working in Singapore concerning the political system --- it's not a true democracy --- the PAP government has been and is still persecuting civil society, including the opposition --- the PAP government strategizing in fining and taxing more, so that it could use the surplus tax for its own political benefit. the current PAP government has not landed with Singaporeans the 10% GST increase. This lady must have the courage in proclaiming the above ; if not, i don't see any of so-called de-bunking as refreshing.

This was the BEST interview this channel has done IMHO. I’m blown away by Jane’s knowledge of our history, past to present, about how our country runs and understands why it has to be this way. I love that she truly appreciates and enjoys being here. Having lived in various countries, she has a good understanding about the different cultures and mindsets. Most of all, I hope she gets her citizenship.

I must say this is one of the best interviews here. This lady is knowledgeable and has great awareness of the situations, be it or not part of her job or identity. Have to agree on most of her points and it's difficult not to like her. It's not easy to accept opinions from tourists who were here for a few days especially if they were bad ones. The people they came across were probably service providers, drivers hawkers etc. To me she's as good as our locals here, with her Indian form of dress and the chinese character pendant to begin with...

She'd have done well if knowing Singapore was a criterion to become a Singaporean. She has the right thinking about foreigners becoming PR / Singaporeans. Unfortunately, I think it's much easier to become a Singaporean if you have tons of money to dump down or some people like Gong Li & Jet Li who are Singaporeans who know nothing abt S'pore and hardly ever stay in Singapore!

I'm an S.E. Asian. This is the first time I heard that Singapore is called a Police State. I thought it was the U.S. who has so many police, I've seen the facts in movies. Singaporean have certain sense of humor, which is S.E. Asian humor. European or African or Central Asian won't understand. But Singapore is very clean and people are civilized. It is a good place to live for people who like to have civilized people around them. Like me.

A police state describes a state whose government institutions exercise an extreme level of control over civil society and liberties, not necessarily lots of polices everywhere. I like her, I think she is knowledgeable. I feel she has passion for this land and she knows about SG more than many of us. As for her wish for transparency in citizenship criteria, I am afraid she will never get her wish fulfilled since every government works differently depending on geopolitical situations and since acquired citizenship is a privilege and not a right, so they are not obliged to reveal. Her two failed applications must be rather frustrating for her but it does say something. I am inclined to believe that the amount of assets that you bring in and your age could be the deciding factors among other things like your affiliations. Our population is super aging, the government needs young blood with specific expertise. I also believe the criteria is not cast in stone. It changes as the local socio-political situation evolves. Perhaps she could do another attempt right after GE🤣
