So, holy crap! Until you have one of these installed, it is hard to quantify how much effort it takes to run the charging handle. YIKES!!! The effort needed is boarder line absurd. That's my initial installation, unfired preliminary observation.

@@stevegillespie6424good point. I already have a 380 buffer spring in mine. Wonder if it would be heavier or lighter to charge. My AR9 runs amazing but as mentioned in the vid…. There is a lot of weight moving back n forth. Bc I shoot suppressed, I’m also running a 45ACP buffer weight. All this said…. Just shows how important the “last round bolt hold open” feature can be. Only having to charge it once. And not for a reload.

@@Blowback9 I can definitely say that the recoil impulse of my AR-9 is quite different. Can I claim that the recoil, or the felt recoil, is less... maybe a little. I've always perceived the recoil on my AR-9 to be almost circular, the way the gun fires and then settles. Today at the range, I had a few folks with me who said the same thing. All my AR-15 platforms recoil so differently. I've had this setup for about 3 years now (Aero Precision dedicated AR9, 8.5" barrel) and now today is the first day with the Maxim Defense RDS. So, I'm not entirely sure it was worth the money for what I got out of it, if that makes sense? A few years ago, I've shot some full auto MP5's, but I never took the time to 'feel check' the recoil impulse and how light that platform truly is. When I built the AR9, I was like, 'This thing kicks.' So, in conclusion, yes, it reduces the recoil somewhat and changes the impulse or feeling of how it recoiled before. Is it worth the money? For me, probably not. By the way, I love your channel; thank you for all the info you provide to the community. 👍

I installed a Timber Creek Enforcer charging handle on my Maxim Defense Roller Delayed AR9 in hopes of reducing the draw weight. How? Well, the Timber Creek C/H has a much larger handle than almost any other handle I've ever seen. In short, it works. The greater surface area of the Timber Creek lets you spread the load and reduce the apparent weight required to charge the rifle. The downside? It's a much larger handle. I have gorilla hands so I like it...a lot.

I wonder how that would fair against +p and or +p+? I finally got my extractor in after blowing it into the next county with Underwood 147gr +p+. I know I said I would stick to +p but, I got an order of Underwood Extreme Defender 90gr +p+. My guess is that round would not have caused the failure that 147 caused. My thought is it would be exiting the barrel so much quicker that the chamber pressure would likely drop to a safe level before the bolt had any substantial reward travel. This system sounds good for a carbine length firearm. Even though this may reduce the felt recoil on an AR-9 pistol, I’m not sure that the reduction in felt recoil justifies this system over using a heavier buffer/spring combination. My AR-9 set up uses a carbine compatible buffer/ spring combination due to the SBC Tactical SBPDW brace I use. It has given me zero issues in over 1,000 rounds fired (actual number is probably higher, but I stop counting after 1,000 or so). Felt recoil is slightly more then AR-15 carbine, but not appreciably more than an AR-15 pistol IMHO.

Weight of the roller delay mechanism and collar is about 4.3oz. The mechanical delay allows the use of much lighter masses in a blowback. With a 12oz. empty bolt, this would give about 16.3oz. total blowback reciprocating mass.

This is a really awesome product. Having that extra back pressure and having two delays might really help with the gas to my face. Although I don’t know if it would work having two delays.
@Blowback93 ай бұрын
It probably wouldn't cycle. Each mechanical delay is designed to dissipate a large part of the recoil energy. There wouln't be enough left over to operate the 2nd mechanical system.

I just received my Maxim Roller Delay widget in the mail about 2-hours ago. It looks really well made. It had absolutely no directions with it as to maintenance. I'm wondering should I oil it? Pair it with a CMMG radial delay bolt and it should give you some unexpected results. Whether that be good or bad will depend on the amount of tuning that goes into the system. Funny enough with both of these delay systems at the same time we might be able to build a pure delayed blowback 5.56.
