Thank you for watching! Are you more of a maximalist or more of a minimalist when it comes to your decor?

I am definitely a maxi. It's funny though because on occasion I pull back. Question though, is it weird that I want to kind of incorporate themed props?

Whats hilarious is, my design style is maximalist. My clothing is minimalist 😂 maximalism in design is like a warm hug ❤

I'm a maximalist who is messy. I do need to get organized so I can show off my cool stuff.

I feel like half of these questions I couldn’t even answer because neither option resonated with me…which probably indicates I’m somewhere in between! Or maybe I lean towards maximalism, just not those particular examples of it.

Definitely a maximalist! I find bare, empty spaces make me not exactly anxious but restless, bored and antsy, whereas a room full of books, art and colour is far more cosy and relaxing. I can sink right into it and never feel bored. But when it come to clothes I'm a minimalist, I like to keep it simple and not draw too much attention to myself :)

I'm the same way. My home leans more maxi, but my fashion sense leans more classic and simple. I think it's because I have a pretty boisterous personality that can overwhelm others at times, so I need my clothes to balance that energy. I still like deep, jewel-toned colors in both my home and my closet though.

I am a minimalist. I downsized many times differently as my life changed. I never had a lot of stuff but when I had a Georgian style home four poster beds and tea sets on trays on beds to roaring fire places and blue and white porcelain. Now I am alone I live in a city and I have very few things. Either way I am highly organized and detail oriented. Great post! I don’t necessarily agree with the clothing I always was and am a minimalist in clothing but always had a flare or a funky style but my home as I said was Georgian. My current space now reflects my style. Love your necklace is it from Dylanex? Hug’s xoxo

I always thought I was both but leaned minimalist but always had a very hard time maintaining minimalism I just had so many pieces of art and things that I really loved. According to this I lean maximalist which makes sense 😂

No doubt - I am a minimalist😊 But I also find my self drawn to and inspired by the maximalist style and enjoy visiting others homes, bars or just looking at peoples outfits that are way more maximalist.. never really thought about the differences in this way before, so interesting video👌

As always loved your video... I am a maximalist, I feel happy and calm looking at and surrounded by things I love, that inspire me, and that have meaning in my life somehow... I love collecting. But I am very organized and like neatness, so I'm always looking for ways to keep all my stuff organized. Gallery walls, trays, groupings... And I definitely can appreciate minimalism. It's just nor realistic for my space or my life.

I’m a mix of both. I am able to express myself with a minimum of bold pieces. As I get older I declutter internally, thus decluttering externally energies not needed.

I think I am somewhat in the middle. I want objects in my home to express my self and exude a sensuality that appeals to all my senses but I want a bit of negative space. I do want every corner of a room in my house to be filled with stuff.

Thank you for the video! I feel like I'm a maximalist at work (entertaining children with music), but I need a calm space at home to unwind. So maybe a bit of both based on what I;m doing!

I used to be a maxamilst but now I’ve become a minimalist just because I’ve had to downsize my apartments so many times that I realize that it’s not “the stuff” that I have it’s the atmosphere I create around me that matters. And I also realize that I hate clutter gotten too old, but I realize now that I hate clutter

I am a definite Minimalist and, as I get older, I find that I tolerate “stuff” less and less. I’m not a beige, cream, tan kind of minimalist though. My walls are a soft blueish-grey with my furniture being more of the calm tan, cream, and beige colors. Every once in awhile I try to add some color to my space such as deep hunter green throws and pillows , but I’m happier with simple blues and creams. I admire maximalism, but I can’t live in it.

Hi, I'm in between and I find, as time goes on, that I need less visual stimulation because otherwise I feel overwhelmed. The flip side of that is that I have issues with object permanence (out of sight, out of mind) so I do need to be able to see things to know that I have them. Aside from all that, I'm going to disagree with you on a couple of specific points. First, minimal spaces do not have to be clinical, sterile, monochromatic or boring. And maximalist spaces don't have to be wildly coloured, totally eclectic, and a mishmash of patterns. Showing such disparate photos reinforces those stereotypes (although it obviously simplifies a quiz like this, right?). All interior design is about self-expression (whether your own or that of your decorator, lol). All design, therefore, even a very minimal aesthetic is driven by self-expression. And, finally, I would challenge your feeling that a minimal lifestyle requires more upkeep. The exact opposite is true. The more stuff you have, the more you have to maintain, to clean, to tidy up, and the more likely it is to look like a giant mess. This is one of the things that has pulled me towards a less maximalist outlook. I'm just not willing to put in the hours and hours of work that a maximalist place requires, especially now that I'm past the kiddie stage. (I frankly can't believe how much I did when my kids were little!)

I'm a minimalist maximalist--I love color, texture, liveliness w/out looking at a room with the doom that I'm going to break things as I fall to my death in a pit of piled up junk.....

I like your term "Midimalist." That fits me pretty well. I love art and self-expression, but I also think art, books and collectables need to breathe in order to be appreciated properly. I know I want my home to reflect where I've been, what I value, and the experiences I've had over the years. But I also believe in white space. So I want enough of my home to reflect me, but not so much that I get a headache. If that makes sense. A lot of minimalist homes actually make me feel anxious, like I would spend all of my time cleaning it and making sure it was spotless and perfect at all times. I wouldn't be able to fully relax in spaces like that. But give me just enough self-expression and the tension just leaves my shoulders. 😊

Definitely more of minimalist feel in My 400sqft Apt. I also LOVE ART! SO ...intentionally being surrounded by my idea of " beauty" works. My "esthetic"...is Minimalist/ industrial/farmhouse. I always wanted to live in an Art Gallery or showroom.. Trying to recreate that feeling. Btw, living alone: You put into words what I have always thought.

Is there such a thing as a minimalist maximalist? I detest clutter and busyness, but I love dramatic pops of complexity that shine all the more for the simplicity around them. A place for everything and everything in its place, but broken up by points of interest to avoid monotony. A minimalist-dramatist maybe?

I would describe myself as a "Colorful Minimalist" . Maximalist is too cluttered , loud and busy for me - it's jarring. Minimalist I like very much , but it can feel a bit too sterile and unfinished when everything is some shade of gray or beige. That's a great start but add some colorful throw pillows, some more colorful artwork, and some plants and i'm happy .
