I have a disco ball that reflects light like your sequin pillow (not sure if disco balls are whimsigoth or just '70s but I love it)! Super into Anna Sui vibes right now (black lace, purples, dark reds) since she feels very whimsigoth to me. Also highly recommend Sin In Linen for whimsigoth bedding and lace curtains! They have a dark/alt vibe and their quality is EXCELLENT (spendy but worth it). I got a dark purple duvet cover from them for a Practical Magic vibe :)

an Ofrenda Altar, gothic style lamps and rock art with dimmer lamp bulbs, warmer colors to contrast white walls. Most of my art has darker colors too. I have crystals and handmade wands too.

Yes, I do. I practice mindfulness and read tarot. I have crystals, celestial items, and magical related décor. I love this style and have been moving towards it more and more.

I'd never heard of thay term but that's essentially my interior style! Well, maybe more dark academia but have all those elements. I think whimisgoth is a little easier to achieve as you can get relatively inexpensive trinkets and accessories, whereas dark academia I find it harder and more expensive to source antiques. Funny to see your office chair draping, I do the exact with mine - also a dark, fringed piece 😄 Thanks as ever for the videos. You cover some of my favourite topics that I don't really get to indulge in anywhere else!

Yaaay I'm so happy you liked it! And yes, dark academia can be trickier because of the antique (or antique-inspired) sourcing, AND I think that the existing architecture of a space can really help or hinder the dark academia aesthetic. Like, I could do dark academia in my apartment, but the fact that it's a pretty modern, builder-grade McApartment building is pretty antithetical to dark academia! It's possible, but an added challenge. 😊

This is so fantastic! Definitely how I’m going to be decorating once we’re back into our apartment since it’s being upgraded. The only thing I’ll be doing that I don’t feel was impressed apon much in this video is the GOTH part of it, I’ll be using many many bones and skulls along with candles and a things of the sort. Agreed SO much on the whimsical mirror! A few years ago, I got a white-washed cathedral-window mirror. I sanded it, painted the white wood dark brown, then glued fake moss to the edges. It's my favorite piece. ♡

I love the idea of whimsigoth and that quote has me sold (I also totally need to look up grandmillennial). But my brain is craving a more retrained whimsigoth/dark decor--think like dark Cabin by a stream in the woods meets Mike Flanagan film set. Like is there a more simplified version of whismigoth? I am def not a minimalist but my anxious brain craves simplicity

I never knew it was called whimsigoth but I'm looking at my apartment like yep, this goth jungle is that. Edited to add: I showed my wife some whimsigoth examples on Pinterest and she looked around our home and said "yep." We're going to do up our kitchen in black, green, and copper. Can you recommend some whimsigoth rugs please..or tell me where you purchased your current living room rug and your other black rug from your former apt. Both rugs I love. Question 2.
